Biden administration bypasses Congress on weapons sales to Israel

 from al Jazeera

The administration of United States President Joe Biden has once again bypassed Congress to greenlight an emergency weapons sale to Israel, which has only intensified and broadened its attacks on the Gaza Strip despite growing international outrage.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Congress that he had made a second emergency determination in less than a month, covering a $147.5m sale of equipment to Israel, the State Department said on Friday.

“Given the urgency of Israel’s defensive needs, the secretary notified Congress that he had exercised his delegated authority to determine an emergency existed necessitating the immediate approval of the transfer,” it said...

First Lady Emine Erdoğan urges globe to end massacre of Palestinians

 from Daily Sabah

First Lady Emine Erdoğan appealed to the global community to mobilize to stop Israel's persecution of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as she pledged to work toward making the voices of Palestinian children heard across the world.

Speaking at the "Bulletproof Dreams: Exhibition of Gazan Child Artists" in Istanbul, Emine Erdoğan said they must make the voices of Palestinian children, whose right to life is their most basic right, more audible and their suffering more visible.

"We call on the world to take action as soon as possible to end this persecution and as Türkiye, under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we are making intense efforts in this direction," she said.

The exhibition was organized by the Turkish Communications Directorate in Taksim Square...

Israel sued for ‘genocide’ at The Hague

 from RT

South Africa has filed an appeal before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, alleging that Israeli actions in Gaza amount to “genocide” and asking for “provisional measures” to stop it, the top UN court announced on Friday.

The application claims “acts and omissions by Israel... are genocidal in character, as they are committed with the requisite specific intent ... to destroy Palestinians in Gaza as a part of the broader Palestinian national, racial and ethnical group,” the ICJ said in a statement.

Israel’s conduct towards the Palestinians in Gaza “is in violation of its obligations under the Genocide Convention,” the government in Pretoria said. They also accused Israel of having “failed to prevent genocide” and “failed to prosecute the direct and public incitement to genocide” since October 7...

Hamas refutes Israeli claims about 'discussion of prisoner exchange'

 from Press TV

Hamas refutes the Israeli regime's claims of taking place of "discussion of prisoner exchange" between the Gaza Strip-based Palestinian resistance movement and Tel Aviv.

"There is no discussion of prisoner exchange before stopping the aggression as Israel propagates," Osama Hamdan, senior Hamas' representative in Lebanon, said on Friday.

"The occupation is attempting to leak ideas that suit its narrative and are not true to alleviate internal pressure," he added.

Gaza's resistance movements took hundreds captive during an operation they staged against the occupied territories, dubbed Operation al-Aqsa Storm, on October 7.

The regime began taking the coastal sliver under an unrelenting genocidal war following the operation.

At least 21,320 people, mostly women and children, have been killed during the Israeli military campaign so far...

Western media’s reference to the ‘Hamas-run’ Health Ministry is another dehumanizing tactic enabling Israel’s genocide

 from Mondoweiss

Western Media’s blatant hypocrisy that insists on transforming the Palestinian struggle for liberation into either terrorism or antisemitism is a clear declaration that Israeli lives are more valuable than Palestinian lives. One of the blatant examples of the Western media’s adoption of the Israeli government’s propaganda is its reference to Gaza’s Health Ministry as “Hamas-run.” This language can be seen in the reporting of the BBC, CNN, and the New York Times, among many others, a terminology meant to demonize Palestinians, subconsciously divert the sympathy of readers from the horrific and rising Palestinian death toll and ultimately justify the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

This Western media bias serves as an extension of the foreign policy of Europe and the U.S. and acts to foment exclusive sympathy for Israel at the expense of the Palestinians.

In this crucial moment of survival for the Palestinians, attaching “Hamas-governed” to Gaza, and “Hamas-run” to its Health Ministry — almost every time — poses a real threat to the lives of the Palestinians in Gaza, because Israel’s association of anything Palestinian with Hamas is an implicit association of Palestinians with evil, essentially making Palestinian lives dispensable, from the newborn to the elderly. Netanyahu took this even further by calling Hamas ISIS in the first few weeks of the so-called war...

UN convoy attacked by Israel on designated 'humanitarian route'

 from The Cradle

The Director of the UNRWA in the Gaza Strip, Thomas White, announced on 29 December that the Israeli army had targeted one of the organization’s aid convoys as it was returning from north Gaza on a route designated by Tel Aviv itself.

“Israeli soldiers fired at an aid convoy as it returned from Northern Gaza along a route designated by the Israeli Army,” White said via social media.

“Our international convoy leader and his team were not injured, but one vehicle sustained damage – aid workers should never be a target,” he added...

Kanye West Gets His Mind Right Promises Not to Back-sass the Jews Anymore

from RT  (title and video per me)

Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, posted a formal apology to “the Jewish community” to his Instagram account on Tuesday. Written in Hebrew, the post has replaced all of Ye’s previous content on the platform.

In the statement, Ye expressed remorse for “any ‘unintended outburst’ caused by my words or actions,” which many interpreted as referring to the artist’s frequent tirades about Jews and their alleged control of industries including entertainment, education, and medicine – rants that effectively ended his career last year as corporate partners raced to distance themselves from him.

It was not my intention to hurt or demean, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused,” Ye wrote, adding that he was “committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future.

“Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity,” he concluded...

Israel a ‘terrorist state’ – Cuba

 from RT

Israel is a terrorist state committing genocide in Gaza, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said on social media on Tuesday. He was commenting on the ongoing military operation that West Jerusalem launched against Hamas in retaliation following the militant group’s deadly October 7 surprise attack, in which approximately 1,200 were killed in the south of the country.

The Caribbean nation, which has no formal diplomatic relations with Israel, has been highly critical of Israel’s war on the militants, which maintain de facto rule over Gaza. During the military operation, large swathes of the enclave have been devastated and more than 20,400 Palestinians have been killed, according to local officials.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) Diaz-Canel called Israel’s actions “a humiliation for all humanity” and lamented that the nation was getting away with it.

“Cuba, which will never be among the indifferent, raises its voice for Palestine again and again,” he added...

Biden has blood of Gaza children on hands; Netanyahu only succeeds in massacre: Hamas

 from Press TV

US President Joe Biden’s hands are soaked in the blood of Palestinian children in Gaza, says a senior official of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.

Speaking at a press conference in Beirut on Tuesday, Hamas’s representative in Lebanon Osama Hamdan said Washington was “orchestrating the aggression” against the besieged Palestinian territory.

“The hands of US President Joe Biden are stained with the blood of Gaza’s children,” he said.

He reaffirmed the resistance movement’s position on the “necessity of stopping the aggression against our people” by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza.

“Our people are not awaiting temporary pauses that the occupation would violate with additional atrocities against civilians; rather, they are after a comprehensive halt to the aggression,” the Hamas official said.

He stressed that Israeli prime minister Netanyahu moves from failure to failure and "only succeeds in killing civilians."..

Skepticism Grows Over Israel’s Ability to Dismantle Hamas

 from New York Times

Standing before a gray backdrop decorated with Hamas logos and emblems of a gunman that commemorate the bloody Oct. 7 attack on Israel, Osama Hamdan, the organization’s representative in Lebanon, professed no concern about his Palestinian faction being dislodged from Gaza.

“We are not worried about the future of the Gaza Strip,” he recently told a crowded news conference in his offices in Beirut’s southern suburbs. “The decision maker is the Palestinian people alone.”

Mr. Hamdan thus dismissed one of Israel’s key objectives since the beginning of its assault on Gaza: to dismantle the Islamist political and military organization that was behind the massacre of about 1,200 people, according to Israeli officials, and which still holds more than 100 hostages.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel has repeatedly emphasized that objective even while facing mounting international pressure to scale back military operations. The Biden administration has dispatched senior envoys to Israel to push for a new phase of the war focused on more targeted operations rather than sweeping destruction.

And critics both within Israel and outside have questioned whether resolving to destroy such a deeply entrenched organization was ever realistic. One former Israeli national security adviser called the plan “vague.”

“I think that we have reached a moment when the Israeli authorities will have to define more clearly what their final objective is,” President Emmanuel Macron of France said this month. “The total destruction of Hamas? Does anybody think that’s possible? If it’s that, the war will last 10 years.”...

Hostages’ families heckle Netanyahu as he warns Israel ‘expanding’ Gaza fight

 from The Guardian

Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has said the offensive in Gaza “isn’t close to finished”, as he faces heavy domestic pressure to reach a deal to bring home the more than 100 Israeli hostages thought to remain in captivity in Gaza.

“We are expanding the fight in the coming days and this will be a long battle,” Netanyahu said after visiting Gaza on Monday, according to a statement from his Likud party.

As he vowed to continue the war during a speech in parliament, relatives of the hostages interrupted him and called for their immediate return. “Now! Now!” they shouted.

Families who have been awaiting their loved ones’ return after 80 days in captivity booed the prime minister, as Netanyahu said Israeli forces needed “more time” to increase military pressure on Hamas, which he argued would help to secure the captives’ release.

Later, protesters gathered near the defence ministry headquarters in central Tel Aviv before a war cabinet meeting, holding posters demanding “Free our hostages now – at any cost!”

On Monday, the opposition leader, Yair Lapid, said Israel needed to “bring the hostages home now”, adding: “We are not doing enough.” His comments were met with applause from the families of hostages...

Pope calls slain Gaza kids ‘little Jesuses of today’, urges truce amid ‘desperate situation’

 from Press TV

Pope Francis has deplored the “desperate humanitarian situation” in the Gaza Strip and repeated his call for an immediate ceasefire and provision of aid to the besieged territory.

“I plead for an end to the military operations with their appalling harvest of innocent civilian victims, and call for a solution to the desperate humanitarian situation by an opening to the provision of humanitarian aid,” he said in his Christmas message on Monday.

The pope called for for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to be resolved through “sincere and persevering dialogue between the parties, sustained by strong political will and the support of the international community.”

He said children dying in wars, including in Gaza, are the "little Jesuses of today" and that Israeli strikes there were reaping an "appalling harvest" of innocent civilians.

Stripped children among Israel-held Palestinians spark outcry

 from Daily Sabah

A video reportedly showing several Palestinian children, stripped to their undergarments and held at gunpoint by the Israeli army caused an uproar on social media Tuesday.

The footage posted on YouTube by an Israeli photographer, embedded within the Israeli forces in Gaza, shows dozens of Palestinian civilians, all stripped down to their underwear, being gathered at a playground-turned-detention camp in northern Gaza City.

Former Chief of Staff Calls for Leadership Change Amidst Israeli-Hamas Conflict

(also check out Scott Ritter as he explains the war is already over and Israel has lost)

 from BNN

In an unexpected turn of events, former Chief of Staff Dan Halutz has made a stark assertion on the ongoing conflict with Hamas, indicating that Israel has lost the war against the Palestinian organization. His comments, aired on Channel 7, are a clear critique of the current military and political strategy, suggesting a significant shift in leadership, particularly from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, could potentially lead to a more favorable outcome for Israel.

As the situation continues to escalate, Iran accuses Israel of assassinating a high-ranking military figure in a missile strike in Syria. This has led to heightened tensions in the region, with Israeli forces on high alert for potential retaliation from Iran and Hezbollah. Meanwhile, the Israeli National Library, a symbol of peace and cultural unity in the midst of turmoil, is set to reopen after a closure due to the war in Gaza.

On the other side of the conflict, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has made bold claims about the group’s progress against the Israel Defense Forces, even as Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issues threats and a potential truce proposal is discussed. The war, which began on October 7 with a deadly onslaught by Hamas, has continued for 81 days despite the Israeli military’s efforts to weaken Hamas’s capabilities.

The mounting losses of IDF soldiers and the strain on the nation’s army, families, and economy are taking a toll. There is also concern about political infighting undermining the war effort. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reiterated that the offensive will not stop until Hamas is destroyed, a stance that has led to criticism from figures like Halutz...

A Christmas Message on Aliens, Demons and the Grifters Trying to Fool Us

 by Scott Creighton

Tucker Carlson and the rest of the alt-right LARPer grifters are now turning to the Good Vs Evil grift.

That's right... Satan.

As it becomes clearer by the day their glorious Savage Capitalist Free Market system is the problem they happily deflect audience to fairy tales.

And speaking of Satan let's hear from the guy who is currently killing women and children while bombing the Holy Land into rubble.

People just don't want to understand. This isn't about some evil entity floating around making things worse for us and wrecking our world simply because it can. That's a childish pipe dream for those who wish to take no responsibility for where we are and what we have to do to stop what's coming.

After bashing it for 3 years and watching millions die, FDA now admits doctors had every right to prescribe Ivermectin as legitimate treatment for Covid-19

from Leo Hohmann

Just how corrupt is the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Anthony Fauci and the entire biomedical security state apparatus that peddled fear of Covid and said the only hope of defeating the virus was to wait for a new technologically advanced “vaccine” — the same “vaccine” that proved unsafe and ineffective?

We are talking about a corruption that is beyond the capacity of many Americans to comprehend.

The FDA, Fauci, the CDC, Biden, the entire U.S. medical system and the corporate media mind-controlled millions of Americans into believing that using the well-known anti-microbial drug Ivermectin was a laughingstock perpetuated by quacks and conspiracy theorists.

They kicked to the curb any physician who sought to prescribe Ivermectin to his or her patients infected with Covid. Despite the fact that Ivermectin has been FDA-approved for use in humans for decades, this same deep-state apparatus made it sound like Ivermectin was just a “horse drug” that stupid people were dangerously ingesting in a failed attempt to ward off Covid.

They mocked and derided us. Telling us we were using “horse paste” that was meant solely for livestock, when it was a known fact that Ivermectin, while used to protect equines and bovines from various viral infections, is just as effective in humans.

Now comes the bombshell report we’ve all been waiting for, exposing who the real quacks have been all along, detailing how they suppressed the administering of a well-known, very effective drug during the heat of the Covid pandemic that could have saved millions of lives.

The Epoch Times reports that doctors are now free to prescribe Ivermectin to treat COVID-19, more than two years after millions were killed by doctors listening to advice from Fauci and the FDA to not treat them with a known effective drug.

It all came out this week in litigation against the FDA...

Biden tells media to start reporting ‘the right way’

 from RT

US President Joe Biden paused on his way to his Christmas holiday vacation to demand more favorable media coverage of the nation’s economy amid his slumping approval ratings in the polls.

Biden stopped briefly to talk to reporters outside the White House on Saturday before boarding a helicopter with family members to fly to Camp David, the presidential retreat in Virginia. Asked about his 2024 outlook for the US economy, he said, “All good. Take a look. Start reporting it the right way.”

The president has repeatedly expressed frustration with media coverage as voters continue to give his economic policies poor marks despite statistical reports showing low unemployment and slowing inflation. He complained at a White House press briefing in October that public perceptions of the US economy had been dimmed by the negative tone of media coverage.

However, a Monmouth University poll released last week showed that only 28% of Americans believe that Biden is doing an adequate job in taming inflation, and just 12% report that their personal financial situation is improving. His overall approval rating has dropped to 34%,..

Israel storms Red Crescent center, kidnaps 8 workers in Gaza

 from the Daily Sabah

The Israeli army beat and arrested eight medical staff members of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society after storming its ambulance center in northern Gaza on Friday.

After storming the ambulance center in Jabalia, Gaza of the Palestinian Red Crescent aid group, the Israeli army arrested eight of its staffers, the group said.

They were taken to an unknown location by the Israeli army, the Red Crescent Society said in a statement.

The Israeli army also reportedly destroyed the Red Crescent ambulances and part of its headquarters in the northern city of Jabalia, about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) north of Gaza City.

The statement added that the Israeli army assaulted 47 men who were inside its building before stripping them naked and arresting them.

The Red Crescent said the Israeli army had ordered the people living near its ambulance center to go to it and then arrested them. The women present were kept alone inside the building, it added.

It also said the Israeli army destroyed the center's walkie-talkie communication system, cutting its contact and losing its ability to receive calls from the public...

In Campus Protests Over Gaza, Echoes of Outcry Over Vietnam

 from the New York Times

Richard Flacks remembers the challenges of building a protest movement during the Vietnam War as a pillar of the left-wing political and antiwar group Students for a Democratic Society during the 1960s.

“The whole idea of S.D.S. began with the idea of, ‘We need a new way of being on the left, a new vocabulary, a new strategy,’” said Mr. Flacks, who helped write the group’s manifesto, the Port Huron Statement, in 1962. “We knew we were right, and I don’t think we were arrogant about it.”

Sixty years later, Iman Abid sees similar challenges in the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas. “For so long, we couldn’t get Palestine to be that issue for people to care about,” said Ms. Abid, the organizing and advocacy director at the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights, which works with pro-Palestinian campus organizations. “But now people care about it because they’re seeing it. They’re watching it on their social media. They’re watching it on the news.”

It is too early to know whether the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will define this generation as opposition to the Vietnam War did for many young people more than a half century ago.

But to many who have studied or lived through the Vietnam era, the parallels to the Gaza protests are compelling...

Thousands take to Melbourne streets to demand permanent ceasefire in Gaza

 from Press TV

Thousands of pro-Palestine protesters took to the streets of Melbourne in weekly anti-war protests on Sunday to demand a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the Australian government's support of Israeli policy.

Protesters gathered in front of the state library and marched to a Zara store.

Footage shows protesters marching, holding Palestinian flags and placards reading: 'To stand with Palestine is to stand with Humanity,' 'Stop raining bombs on Gaza,' and 'They tried to bury us but they didn't know we were seeds'.

Protesters also demanded their government to call for a permanent ceasefire in the strip, chanting 'Ceasefire now!', 'Free, free, Palestine!' and 'Israel, USA, how many kids did you kill today?'

"We don't stand with what is going on and we really just want to save these lives, help and just a ceasefire to be called," said one of the protesters.

Protesters also called for a boycott of ZARA stores after the brand's recent controversial fashion collection that contained pictures resembling images from the Israel-Hamas war. Zara has pulled the promotional campaign after the worldwide protests.

Biden’s disregard for truce speaks volumes of US heartless approach to Gaza genocide: CAIR

 from Press TV

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has slammed US President Joe Biden’s administration for “actively supporting” Israel’s ongoing “genocide and ethnic cleansing” in the Gaza Strip and indifference to the genocide there.

In a statement on Sunday, CAIR national communications director of the US-based Muslim advocacy group said Biden’s actions will “stain” the US “international reputation.”

“The Biden administration’s callous indifference to – and active support for – the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing being carried out by [Israel] will stain our nation’s international reputation for generations to come,” Ibrahim Hooper said.

“The fact that President Biden admits that he did not even ask for a ceasefire in a recent conversation with [Israeli prime minister Benjamin] Netanyahu speaks volumes about the administration’s heartless and immoral approach to the genocide in Gaza,” he added.

On Saturday, Biden told reporters that his conversation with Netanyahu over the war on Gaza was a “long talk,” but he did not ask for a ceasefire in that call...

RFK Jr. Simping for Genocidal Zionists in Israel

by Scott Creighton

Pay close attention to this edited video from Crystal Ball as she interviews/debates Robert Kennedy Jr. on the subject of Gaza and Hamas (video below)

I hate RFK Jr. When he first announced his running for office I wrote and did videos telling to stay the hell away from him and that he was an unelectable hack posing as a leftie but really he was way right of Reagan, which he is.

These days he runs about with that Rent a Rabbi Schmuly guy pushing bullshit justifications for Israel killing children and babies in Gaza with weapons and munitions paid for by US taxpayers.

In the video below watch how he simply denies the obvious, that the IDF is indiscriminately bombing civilians, and then justifies it by trying that same old tired trope... Hamas is hiding behind them... or some other stupid shit.

Do Not Test for Covid-19: Vinay Prasad gives you the right advice but for the wrong reasons

by Scott Creighton

I've been sick for several days now and am only starting to feel well enough to spend a little time in the office working on my websites.

It's an upper respiratory infection (URI) of some kind which is particularly troublesome for someone like myself as I have both COPD as well as chronic acute bronchitis.

My case started this past Thursday and was really bad yesterday as I moped about the house feeling sorry for myself and wishing I had someone to make me chicken soup. Oh well. Life choices fail.

Today I feel much better. I bring this up not for sympathy points but instead because I saw this video from Vinay Prasad explaining why he suggests you do not follow CDC protocol when you get a little sick and rush out to take a Covid-19 rapid antigen test to see if it is Covid.

I agree with his conclusion, just not how he gets there.

Hamas official calls for Palestinian elections, national unity in the ‘day after’ the war

 from Mondoweiss

While the U.S. and other Western governments are discussing the prospect of installing an alternative administration over the Gaza Strip in the aftermath of the current Israeli assault, possibly with the Palestinian Authority at its helm, Hamas is now launching its own alternative vision regarding Gaza’s postwar reality.

This vision includes holding democratic Palestinian elections the day after the war and was shared in a wide-ranging interview with Osama Hamdan, the senior representative of Hamas in Lebanon. Speaking to Mondoweiss, Hamdan emphasized the importance of Palestinian self-determination in the aftermath of the current assault on Gaza, in addition to several other topics, including Hamas’s demands before reentering negotiations on a prisoner exchange, the resistance group’s motivation for Operation “Al Aqsa Flood,” and how regional politics have been reshaped in the wake of the October 7 attack...

Surrender or die – Netanyahu

 from RT

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to continue the war against Hamas until the Palestinian group is eliminated entirely and Gaza poses no threat.

His comments come after Hamas reportedly rejected West Jerusalem’s offer for another week-long “humanitarian pause” in exchange for freeing 40 Israeli captives.

“We are fighting until victory. We will not stop the war until we achieve all of its goals: Completing the elimination of Hamas and releasing all of our hostages,” Netanyahu said in a video message posted on X (formerly Twitter) by his spokesman Ofir Gendelman on Thursday.

“The choice I propose to Hamas is very simple: Surrender or die,” Netanyahu added. “All Hamas terrorists, from the first to the last, are dead men walking.”

He added that after eliminating Hamas, Israel will ensure that Gaza will no longer pose a threat and that “whoever thinks we will stop is detached from reality.”

How Israeli forces bulldozed, buried alive Palestinians at Kamal Adwan Hospital

 from Press TV

A horrifying scene is unfolding, the air is thick with screams and cries for help and people are fleeing in utter panic as Israeli tanks and bulldozers mercilessly rumble through the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza City, crushing to death scores of displaced Palestinians in tents set up in the courtyard.

The courtyard in Kamal Adwan Hospital, the only operational healthcare facility in northern Gaza, in the city of Beit Lahiya, is now full of clearly visible tracks of Israeli tanks and bulldozers after the Saturday attack which reportedly killed at least 20 people.

As the Israeli regime presses ahead with its no-holds-barred onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip, hospitals in the territory have become the flashpoint and key targets.

The regime’s military has destroyed many hospitals on the pretext that they serve as “command-and-control centers” for the Gaza-based Hamas resistance movement.

Hamas has rejected the claims and Israel has failed to provide any irrefutable evidence...

Javier Milei Drops Pure Neoliberal Economic Brick on Argentina

by Scott Creighton

Javier Milei and the new 'economic reforms' he passed by decree. Pure Milton Friedman neoliberal economic brick stuff being forced on the people of Argentina.  Here are the first 29 of his 300 royal dictates that promise to cripple the economy for the general population while making the nation's super-rich even richer.

New Argentine president warns of ‘worse’ times ahead

from RT

In his first speech as Argentina’s president, Javier Milei gave his supporters some sobering news, warning that the country’s economic crisis will get worse before a recovery can begin because his predecessors left behind a nation mired in hyperinflation and fiscal shambles.

The self-described “anarcho-capitalist” warned that after a century of leftist rule, it won’t be easy to turn around Argentina’s wrecked economy. Austerity measures, including drastic cuts to government spending, will need to be employed immediately, which will result in even tougher economic conditions in the short term, he said.

“Today, it’s the start of a new era for Argentina,” Milei said on Sunday in his inaugural address in Buenos Aires. “Today we close a long and sad history of decadence and decline, and we take the road of reconstruction of our country.”...

...“There is no alternative to a shock adjustment,” Milei said, adding that the economy would worsen in the short term. “There is no money.”

The new president campaigned on pledges to fight corruption, eliminate the country’s central bank and replace Argentina’s volatile currency with the US dollar. He said voters had given him a mandate for “change that has no turning back.”..

IDF Bombs Hospital in Rafah to End Peace Talks

As officials were meeting in Egypt and others from Tel Aviv reported they were also open to a cessation of  aggression between Israel and Palestine, the IDF launched an attack on residences and a hospital in Rafah in the southern part of Gaza.

Trump Disqualified by Colorado Supreme Court

As officials were meeting in Egypt and others from Tel Aviv reported they were also open to a cessation of  aggression between Israel and Palestine, the IDF launched an attack on residences and a hospital in Rafah in the southern part of Gaza.

All of this taking place while the Americans are distracted by Colorado's Supreme Court declared Donald Trump would not be allowed to run for president in their state.

An Israeli air strike hit an area near the Kuwaiti Hospital in Rafah in southern Gaza while Al Jazeera correspondent Hani Mahmoud was live on air.

'A large mosque in the area was completely destroyed, which also caused a lot of damage to the surrounding areas.

Two residential homes have also been destroyed in the attack.

Hamas head in Cairo as momentum builds towards new Israel-Hamas truce talks

from al Jazeera

The head of Hamas’s political bureau has arrived in Cairo for talks on the Gaza war, as hopes grow that the Palestinian group and Israel could agree terms for another ceasefire.

Ismail Haniyeh arrived in the Egyptian capital on Wednesday to meet with Cairo’s spy chief and other Egyptian officials, who are acting as key mediators. Meanwhile, Israeli officials have indicated in talks with US and Qatari representatives that Tel Aviv could be open to a truce deal.

Haniyeh planned to discuss “stopping the aggression” in Gaza, a Hamas source told the AFP news agency. The world is pressing both Israel and the Palestinian group to agree terms to halt the bombardment in Gaza, which after 10 weeks of devastating Israeli attacks has killed nearly 20,000 people, including 7,729 children, and left 1.9 million displaced and in need of water, food and medicine...

Trump Disqualified by Colorado Supreme Court for Committing the Unforgivable Sin

by Scott Creighton

In a remarkable turn of events, the Colorado Supreme Court (CSC) has declared in a 200-page ruling that former president Donald J. Trump is disqualified from running for office under Section 3 of the 14th amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.

' The ruling, which said that former President Donald J. Trump engaged in insurrection, applies only to Colorado. His campaign said it planned to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.' NYT
The CSC is made up entirely of Democrat appointed justices as this act reeks of political hackery.

'The Colorado Supreme Court’s seven-member bench was entirely appointed by Democratic governors, six of whom won retention elections, and a seventh will run to do so next year' The Hill

However, if we take a closer look at this development, we might just find fingerprints from all sorts of perps involved.

Section 3 Disqualification from Holding Office

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Despite their best efforts, no one was ever able to prove Donald Trump directed anyone to enter the hardly hallowed halls of congress on Jan 6 2021 either on that day or at any time during the lead-up to it. Therefore, this is not about his having 'engaged' in any 'insurrection or rebellion' against the United States.

'The FBI has found scant evidence that the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was the result of an organized plot to overturn the presidential election result, according to four current and former law enforcement officials.' Reuters
Instead, what I highlighted is the issue: 'or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof'

Did Trump give aid or comfort to his supporters? Is there a way to quantify such a claim?

But again, that is also not the sticking point here. What is really disturbing is the suggestion that Trump supporters who were calling for putting a hold on the ratification of the 2020 election are to be considered 'enemies thereof'

Unseen Crisis | Full Measure from Sharyl Attkisson

The number of people suffering problems after Covid vaccines continues to grow as researchers learn more about how to diagnose and treat the lingering illnesses. A new documentary, "The Unseen Crisis," examines the stories of some who got their shots, doctors vilified when they tried to help, and allegations that the government has long been quietly treating a select few of the injured.

Understanding Slow Covid Vaccine Uptake and a Look at WHO Treaty Debate in UK

Understanding Slow Covid Vaccine Uptake and a Look at WHO Treaty Debate in UK

Why are so few people getting the latest Covid-19 vaccine?

by Dylan Scott from VOX

The Covid-19 vaccines were hailed as a miracle upon their arrival. They were delivered earlier than anyone thought possible and proved exceptionally effective in preventing hospitalizations and deaths. More than 80 percent of all Americans, and more than 90 percent of adults, received at least one dose of the vaccines, remarkable penetration in a country where less than half of people get their flu shot every year.

But so far this year, just 14 percent of adults have received a dose of the new vaccine formulation that became available in September — compared to 28 percent who have gotten a flu shot.

This raises a question that would have seemed unthinkable three years ago: What if we make a miraculous vaccine and nobody wants it?

Ever since that first shot, the public’s interest in subsequent Covid-19 vaccines has been steadily dropping. Less than 70 percent of the US finished their initial two-dose vaccine series. Less than 20 percent of the country received last year’s bivalent booster shot.

Experts say the public’s disinterest in the latest Covid shots is likely a combination of poor messaging from authorities, a diminishing fear about a virus that three years ago was wholly unknown, and the political polarization of the pandemic itself. But whatever the reasons, that vaccine ambivalence still poses a health threat...

U.S. Urges Israel to Do More to Spare Civilians in Gaza and Pushes Hostage Talks

from the New York Times

Top United States officials prodded Israel on Monday to do more to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip and sought to restart talks aimed at releasing hostages as international pressure mounted on Israel to scale back its war against Hamas.

Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III, making his second trip to Israel since the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks, declared that U.S. support for Israeli security “remains unshakable.” But he also said that “democracies are stronger and more secure when we uphold the law of war.”

“As I’ve said, protecting Palestinian civilians in Gaza is both a moral duty and a strategic imperative,” Mr. Austin said at a news conference with Israel’s defense minister, Yoav Gallant. “So we will continue to stand up for Israel’s bedrock right to defend itself. And we will also continue to urge the protection of civilians during conflict and to increase the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza.”...

UNSC due to vote (today) on Israel-Hamas truce after repeated US vetoes

from al Jazeera

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is expected to vote on a halt in the fighting in Gaza after it was delayed by a day amid ongoing negotiations to stave off another United States veto and as Israel faces growing international pressure to change its tactics in the war against Hamas.

The UNSC is to convene later on Tuesday. An initial draft text of the new resolution seen on Monday called for “an urgent and lasting cessation of hostilities to allow unimpeded access of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip”.

Diplomatic sources said this language has been watered down to an “urgent suspension of hostilities”, and could be further weakened to satisfy Washington and get closer to a compromise.

“The key sticking point of course we believe is the ‘cessation of hostilities’,” said Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo, reporting from the UN in New York.

“The United States and Israel say that any resolution that has those words in it is akin to a ceasefire and they say that would only benefit Hamas and so the US would reserve its veto power as it has done in the past … We think they are trying to work out some sort of language there...

UK, France top diplomats call for sustainable cease-fire in Gaza

 from The Daily Sabah

The British and French top diplomats called for a lasting truce in Gaza following a meeting in Paris on Tuesday.

Speaking at a joint press conference in the French capital, U.K. Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that Britain wants to see a "cease-fire as soon as possible."

The French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, in the meanwhile, expressed hope for "another immediate lasting truce."

"For our part, what we want to see is a cease-fire as soon as possible, but it must be a sustainable cease-fire," said Cameron...

Getting serious about halting Israeli genocide

By Medea Benjamin and Nicolas Davies from Mondoweiss

On Friday, December 8, the UN Security Council met under Article 99 for only the fourth time in the UN’s history. Article 99 is an emergency provision that allows the Secretary General to summon the Council to respond to a crisis that “threatens the maintenance of international peace and security.” The previous occasions were the Belgian invasion of the Congo in 1960, the hostage crisis at the U.S. Embassy in Iran in 1979, and Lebanon’s Civil War in 1989.

Secretary General Antonio Guterres told the Security Council that he invoked Article 99 to demand an “immediate ceasefire” in Gaza because “we are at a breaking point,” with a “high risk of the total collapse of the humanitarian support system in Gaza.” The United Arab Emirates drafted a ceasefire resolution that quickly garnered 97 cosponsors.

The World Food Program has reported that Gaza is on the brink of mass starvation, with 9 out of 10 people spending entire days with no food. In the two days before Guterres invoked Article 99, Rafah was the only one of Gaza’s five districts to which the UN could deliver any aid at all.

Shame on Israel for exploiting the Holocaust to justify genocide

by Sig Giordano from Mondoweiss

If my grandparents were alive today, this October would have marked the 80th anniversary of their meeting. In 1943, my grandparents, Isidor and Marianne, met in Theresienstadt, a concentration camp in what was Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia. I was quite close to my grandfather, Isi, who outlived my grandmother. Among some of his things, he entrusted me with a yellow cloth “Jewish” star he was made to wear in the camp, with the word “Jude” on it.

At a United Nations (UN) meeting, on October 31, Gilad Erdan, Israel’s UN Ambassador, put on a Jewish star reminiscent of my grandfather’s. Addressing the UN Security Council, he said the reason he wore the star was to denounce their silence regarding the October 7 attack on Israel. Erdan compared this silence to the silence that allowed for the Holocaust to happen. In response to Erdan, Dani Dayan, the director of Yad Vashem, the Israeli Holocaust memorial museum, quickly called out this misuse of the star, arguing that Erdan was “disgrac[ing] the victims of the Holocaust as well as the state of Israel.”

Dayan was absolutely right to call attention to how offensive it was for Erdan to don the yellow star. Dayan’s reasons, however, are entirely wrong. To make his point, Dayan argued that the yellow star symbolizes the weakness of the Jewish people during the Holocaust, continuing a disturbing and false historical narrative.

Kamal Idwan Hospital: IDF Imposed Cell Phone Blackout then Bulldozed Civilains

 from @50317

'What did Israel do before they buried dozens of patients alive near Kamal Idwan Hospital and then crushed them to death with bulldozers? They imposed a full telecommunications blackout throughout Gaza so nobody could film it.'

Yuval Harari on the Future With mRNA Enhanced Super Elites and Billions of Useless Eaters

Yuval Noah Harari: at 1:12 mark in video

So we may be facing in the 21st century a completely new kind of inequality which we have never seen before in human history—on the one hand, the emergence of a new upgraded elite of superhumans enhanced by bioengineering and brain-computer interfaces and things like that, and on the other hand a new massive useless class, a class that has no military or economic usefulness and, therefore, also no political power.

PA health minister seeks probe into deadly Israeli raid on Gaza hospital

from al Jazeera

Palestinian Health Minister Mai al-Kaila has called for an “urgent probe” after Israeli forces were accused of crushing Palestinians, including wounded patients, using bulldozers in the yard of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.

On Saturday, doctors and other witnesses said Israeli forces bulldozed tents housing displaced Palestinians near the hospital – one of the 11 hospitals still functioning inside Gaza since Israel launched its military offensive on October 7 – and crushed them to death.

Witnesses told Al Jazeera that civilians were deliberately targeted.

“People were buried alive using bulldozers. Who could do that? All those who committed this crime should be brought to justice and taken to the international criminal court,” a witness said.

Several videos shared on social media also appear to show people crushed under the rubble in front of the Kamal Adwan Hospital...

So Palestine Doesn't Exist huh?

And updates from Gaza and around the world.

So Palestine Does Not Exist huh?

 by Scott Creighton

It makes it a LOT easier to wipe a nation off the map if they can convince you it never was on it to start with.

That sounds an awful lot like Winston Smith's job in 1984 doesn't it?

But the facts are the facts. Here's one you might like... as of November of 2023 (two weeks ago) more nations on the planet recognized Palestine as a state than recognize Israel as one.

After the fold a couple images for you to check out showing World Atlas and historical maps of Palestine as well as the info-graphic showing just which nations recognize Israel and Palestine as states.

Enjoy.

Turkey, UAE urge a permanent ceasefire in Gaza

from al Mayadeen English

In a recent phone conversation, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan engaged in discussions with United Arab Emirates (UAE) leader Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to address the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza. The Turkish president's office revealed that both parties deliberated on steps aimed at establishing a sustainable ceasefire in the region.

During the call, Erdogan emphasized the urgency of halting "Israel's" brutal attacks and underscored the importance of resolutely advancing efforts toward a permanent ceasefire. The leaders also tackled Turkey's initiatives to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestine and explored measures to promote lasting peace in the Gaza Strip.

Erdogan highlighted the significance of diligently implementing decisions arising from the joint summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States. He urged a continued commitment to these decisions and the pursuit of international support for Palestine. The statement from Erdogan's office emphasized the need for unity in these efforts to achieve peace in the region.

The bipartisan attack on Palestine solidarity is higher than ever

by Mitchell Plitnik from Mondoweiss

The campaign to delegitimize and even illegalize any support for Palestinian rights has reached a new level of Orwellian thought policing. Any statement of support for the basic rights of Palestinians is now being defined as antisemitism, with often devastating consequences, and if recent events are any indication, pro-Israel forces are just getting started.

While the campaign is being led by Republicans who have repeatedly demonstrated their hatred for both Muslims and Jews, it is being enthusiastically supported by Democrats, especially the White House.

On December 6, in a scene that demonstrates the absurdity of American politics, Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik mercilessly interrogated three university presidents to gauge whether they were sufficiently loyal to Israel. Stefanik employed the cynical tactic of presenting her questioning as protecting Jewish students on the campuses the three witnesses headed — Harvard, MIT, and the University of Pennsylvania — from the antisemitism that she claims has swept their campuses.

What made the scene so absurd is that it was Stefanik holding the pitchfork against the three women she was trying to burn at the stake. Stefanik has espoused perhaps the most notorious of contemporary antisemitic conspiracy theories, the so-called Great Replacement Theory, which claims that Jews are bringing immigrants of color into the U.S. to displace white people. If she were not concerned about the political effects on her career, Stefanik would have been perfectly comfortable with the tiki-torch carrying neo-Nazis at the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville six years ago.

Yet leading Democrats supported her witch hunt. That included the White House, which issued a statement after the hearing where the three university presidents were pilloried, that read, in part, “It’s unbelievable that this needs to be said: Calls for genocide are monstrous and antithetical to everything we represent as a country.” It also included Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who said, “I’ve said many times, leaders have a responsibility to speak and act with moral clarity, and Liz Magill failed to meet that simple test.” Under this pressure, UPenn President Magill — who had been under intense pressure since she refused to cancel the “Palestine Writes” literature festival in September — finally gave in and stepped down as the university’s president.

Stefanik, in classic McCarthy-esque style, was trying to force the university presidents to condemn what she referred to as calls for the genocide of Jews by students supporting Palestinian rights. But the rhetoric she was referring to was nothing of the kind. She focused on the phrase “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” and the term “intifada.”...

Turkish FM in Oslo to bolster global stance for Gaza cease-fire

from Daily Sabah

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Friday visited Oslo with the Gaza contact group of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to strengthen the shifting global stance for Israel to stop its attacks on Palestinian civilians.

Fidan, Palestine's top diplomat, Riyad al-Maliki, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi as well as Hissein Brahim Taha, the secretary-general of the OIC were part of the group. Diplomatic sources said that the invitation for the contact group to come to Oslo came from Scandinavian and Benelux countries.

The group held talks with the foreign ministers of Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, Iceland, Luxembourg, Norway and Finland’s permanent state secretary.

Nordic as well as Benelux countries are traditionally known for role their active in role mediation, international law and humanitarian issues. Sources said that these groups of countries adopting a more critical role toward Israel's actions in Gaza is vital to reaching peace. The sources further said that the Oslo visit is essential as an opportunity to increase the number of countries calling for a cease-fire.

Denmark, Finland and Sweden, which had previously not voted in favor of Palestine, voted so in Tuesday's draft resolution, showing a shift in stances...

5 killed, dozens wounded as Israeli army hits southern Gaza school

from Daily Sabah

At least five Palestinians were killed and dozens of others injured on Friday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a school sheltering displaced people in southern Gaza's Khan Younis, Palestinian media reported.

It was the Israeli army's second major attack on Palestinian civilians on Friday.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA had earlier reported that "at least four Palestinians, including children, were killed, and many others injured, in an Israeli bombing targeting the Abu Nasr family home in western Khan Younis."

The Israeli artillery shelling on several neighborhoods in Khan Younis since Thursday night has also resulted in dozens of casualties and injuries, the media outlet added.

Many residential neighborhoods and homes in Deir al-Balah, Gaza, Nuseirat, and Jabalia were also targeted, resulting in several casualties and injuries.

Israel has bombarded the Gaza Strip from the air and land, imposed a siege, and mounted a ground offensive in retaliation to a the Oct. 7 Hamas incursion.

At least 18,787 Palestinians have since been killed and 50,897 injured in the Israeli onslaught, according to Gaza’s health authorities...

Security videos show Israeli forces killing 2 Palestinians at close range. The army opens a probe

from The Independent

Israel on Friday said it was opening a military police investigation into the killing of two Palestinians in the West Bank after an Israeli human rights group posted videos that appeared to show Israeli troops killing the men — one who was incapacitated and the second unarmed — during a military raid in a West Bank refugee camp.

The B’Tselem human rights group accused the army of carrying out a pair of “illegal executions.”

The security camera videos show two Israeli military vehicles pursuing a group of Palestinians in the Faraa refugee camp in the northern West Bank. One man, who appears to be holding a red canister, is gunned down by soldiers. B'Tselem identified the man as 25 year-old Rami Jundob.

The military jeep then approaches Jundob as he lies bleeding on the ground and fires multiple shots at him until he is still. Soldiers then approach a man identified by B'Tselem as 36-year-old Thaar Shahin as he cowers underneath the hood of a car. They shoot at him from close range.

Btselem said that Shahin was killed instantly and Jundob died of his wounds the next day..

Protesters march on Tel Aviv after Israeli military accidentally kills hostages in Gaza

from The Independent

Hundreds of protesters have marched to the Israeli war cabinet’s meeting spot after the military revealed they had accidentally killed three hostages in Gaza.

The hostages were killed in the Gaza City area of Shijaiyah, where troops have been engaged in fierce fighting with Hamas militants in recent days. The soldiers mistakenly identified the three Israelis as a threat and opened fire on them, said the army’s chief spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari.

He said it was believed that the three had either fled their captors or been abandoned.

“Perhaps in the last few days, or over the past day, we still don’t know all the details, they reached this area,” Mr Hagari said. He said the army expressed “deep sorrow” and was investigating.

The three hostages were identified as young men who had been abducted from Israeli communities near the Gaza border — Yotam Haim, 28, Samer Al-Talalka 25, and Alon Shamriz, 26. The trio’s bodies were taken to the Hatzvi Centre at the Shura Camp, where they were identified.

Hundreds of protesters blocked Tel Aviv’s main highway late on Friday in a spontaneous demonstration calling for the return of the other hostages...

Protests rock Tel Aviv after Israel admits killing own people in Gaza

from Press TV

Hundreds of people have protested in Tel Aviv as the military admitted that it shot and killed three Israeli prisoners held in the north of the besieged Gaza Strip.

Daniel Hagari, spokesman for the military, said the three Israelis held by Hamas since early October were “mistakenly” killed by friendly fire in the Gaza neighborhood of Shujaiya.

“During searches and checks in the area in which the incident occurred, a suspicion arose over the identities of the deceased,” he said. “Their bodies were transferred…for examination, after which it was confirmed that they were three Israeli hostages.”

Hagari said the military was “reviewing” the circumstances around the fatal shooting. His statement identified the three prisoners as Yotam Haim, Alon Shimriz and Samer Talalka.

As news of the incident spread, hundreds of people gathered in Tel Aviv to call on the Israeli regime to secure the release of 129 prisoners still being held in Gaza.

"I am dying of fear," said Merav Svirsky, sister of prisoner Itay Svirsky. "We demand a deal now."

Last month, an investigative report by Press TV stated that Israeli forces were believed to have killed their own people, but the regime's media were blaming Palestinian resistance forces for the deaths...

News of the Day: Covid Jabs, Russell Brand, Gaza, Klaus Schwab, Clarissa Ward and Pedro Henrique

Russell Brand's 'Now it Makes Sense' (yeah, I know I know)

by Scott Creighton

Yes, I know. It's Russell Brand. Limited hangout womanizing hack and friend of Zionist WEF's Yuval Noah Harari. Yeah I get it, I have slammed this fraud for years.

However... this is a good video of his talking about a report from the Blaze (YEAH I KNOW!!) showing how our government is STILL funding disinformation campaigns aimed at getting more suckers to take needless and dangerous mRNA experimental jabs.

Everything else aside, this is Brand at his best and its worth your time. I just threw up in my mouth.

Clarissa Ward in Gaza - She Finally Sees REAL Horrors of War Not the FAKE ONES CNN Makes Up

by Scott Creighton

Clarissa Ward of CNN was finally allowed to report on a brutal war they didn't just make up out of thin air. This time she and a film crew got into Southern Gaza and her reporting is riveting.

You know things are bad for your genocide campaign when CNN gets around to covering it. Back in the day that very shift signaled the end of Mubarak's reign of terror in 2011. Once CNN was shamed into covering his brutal crackdown on protesters in Tahrir Square, that was it. Something had to be done. Could not be ignored anymore.

Watch Clarissa report on Israel's genocide in Gaza. It's worth the time just watching her reaction to real horrors rather than the fake one's she's mugged her way thru over the years in support of one globalist campaign after another.

Pedro Henrique Drops Dead of Heart Attack at 30 On Stage - 'Must be the will of God' and NOT the JABS

 by Scott Creighton

This has become almost commonplace. Young people suddenly and without warning dropping dead of a heart attack in the prime of their lives. On Monday Night Football we saw a perfectly healthy young man die on the field in front of us last year. Several other athletes have done the same since, with no fanfare from the complicit media.

College athletes, politicians, broadcasters... and now a religious singer in Brazil, Pedro Henrique, have dropped dead right before our eyes and we are told everything is normal or that it's some kind of BS lingering side effect of the mythical 'Long Covid'

According to Radio 93, Henrique’s record label, Todah Music, confirmed that the cause of death was a massive heart attack.

“These are very difficult situations in life for which we have no explanation,” Todah Music wrote in an Instagram post.

“We just need to understand that the will of God prevails.” Hindustan Times

No explanation. It must be the will of God. Move along. Nothing too see here.

The Great Reset Straight from the Nazi Horse's Mouth

by Scott Creighton

In a series of videos, Klaus Schwab is going to explain to us how we must completely remake global governance (doing away with the illusion of democracy), how we need to get used to AI systems 'prescribing' to us who wins future 'elections' and how we need to get used to EVERYTHING we do being monitored by Nazi Big Brother at all times.

This is, of course, everything we have been warning folks about over the years and here he is confirming all of it. As with Covid and the fake mRNA vaccines, the 'conspiracy theorists' were attacked for being right all along.

Looming deadline puts pressure on slow pandemic treaty negotiations

 from EURACTIV

Controversial topics, little time and closed doors – talks are moving slowly and significant disagreements are yet to be negotiated among the World Health Organisation (WHO) members on a Pandemic Accord.

Given the complex and delicate topics on the table, doubts persist as to whether the 194 WHO member states will be able to agree on a pandemic treaty with any significant impact. At the same time, their deadline for an agreement on 24 May 2024 at the World Health Assembly (WHA) is extremely tight.

“I think it’s going to be challenging for member states to meet the deadline. My perception from the last session [in July] is that the process is moving slowly,” Daniela Morich, manager and advisor at the Governing Pandemics Initiative hosted by the Global Health Centre at the Geneva Graduate Institute, told Euractiv.

Agreeing on a new WHO instrument could be an opportunity to ensure better prevention and preparedness for future pandemics as well as agree on how to improve global response and global access to medical countermeasures.

The talks are happening in the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB), which WHO members decided to establish in 2021 to draft and negotiate a new WHO instrument.

Many of the ongoing informal talks and drafting sessions have happened behind closed doors until now. So far, countries have been meeting to try to understand each other’s positions, but text-based negotiations still have not begun and compromises on the most tricky topics will be difficult to reach...

WHO pandemic treaty: Negotiations falter as pharma companies warn that intellectual property rules will harm profits

the BMJ

Pharmaceutical representatives and Germany’s health ministry have publicly opposed the latest draft of the World Health Organization’s pandemic treaty as a disagreement over waiving intellectual property (IP) rights becomes a sticking point in negotiations.

WHO’s pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response accord is intended to prevent future health threats from becoming as catastrophic as covid-19 by legally obligating countries to cooperate, share knowledge, and reduce health inequities.

Since WHO’s 194 member states officially began negotiating on the treaty’s content in March this year disagreements have centred on the scope of the accord and how strongly countries should be obligated to fulfil its stipulations. The disagreements, which often follow the dividing lines of lower and higher income countries, seem to be hardening as the thorny issue of IP comes into focus...

Draft “Pandemic Treaty” Fails to Protect Rights

from HRW

World Health Organization (WHO) member states should push for clear commitments to human rights protections in the text of a draft “pandemic treaty” being negotiated on November 6-10, four rights organizations said today. The current draft fails to enshrine core human rights standards protected under international law, most notably the right to health and the right to benefit from scientific progress, therefore risking a repeat of the tragic failures during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The WHO’s Intergovernmental Negotiating Body is meeting to debate the draft of a new international instrument on pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response with the goal of addressing the failures of the Covid-19 response and preventing another global crisis. However, rather than acting on the lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic, the current proposed text offers a weak framework for ensuring that countries will be accountable for maintaining a rights-compliant response to future pandemics.

This is the position taken by four international human rights groups: Amnesty International, the Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the International Commission of Jurists, and Human Rights Watch..
