And speaking of “fake news”… CNN has some breaking this morning.
Fake news outlet CNN is reporting on this story as if it is the gospel truth and they apparently refuse to link their readers/viewers to the actual 35-page document so folks can judge it for themselves. There’s good reason for that. It’s ridiculous. Here is a link to the entire 35-page “report” (PDF)
Here’s the story in a nutshell: an organization of Trump rivals in the primary contest last year hired some former British MI-6 liar to dig up some dirt on Donald Trump during the run-up to the election. The guy cobbled together some bullshit fabrications about Russia cultivating Trump for the past 5 years while simultaneously collecting sex videos of him and some hookers peeing on a bed the Obamas once slept in for blackmail purposes. The “report” was so stupid and devoid of actual facts, the group shelved the “report”. In their desperation toward the end, the Hillary team bought the rights to it, but again, because it was so stupid and sophomoric sounding, even they refused to use it.
CNN calls this “breaking news” but in fact, it came out on Oct. 31st, 2016 when David Corn of Mother Jones covered the stupid story in an attempt to help usher Killary into the White House. They also refused to publish the document because, as they said, it was “completely unsubstantiated” which translates to “if folks look at it they will immediately recognize it as either a hoax or the work of an out of work desperate man looking for a paycheck”

Not that long ago President Obama said that Russia and President Putin had tried to influence the outcome of our election process and that it was “unacceptable” behavior for a nation to attempt to influence the democratic process of other nations. Forget for a second that his evidence was so laughable that the Department of Homeland Security, the agency that cobbled it together, posted a disclaimer on the first page of the report that said it didn’t stand by a single shred of “proof” in it’s own report:
“this report is provided “as is” for informational purposes only. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) does not provide any warranties of any kind regarding any information contained within.”
Let’s also forget for a moment the troubling rise
of the New McCarthyism in America and the lynch-mob
mentality that goes along with it.
Russia did not attempt to influence our election. They did not “hack” the DNC, Hillary Clinton’s illegal private email server nor the email account of the perpetually corrupt John Podesta. Even if they did, which they didn’t, all they did was expose the truth about these three deeply tainted entities. No one has disputed the authenticity of the leaks. They stand as an accurate representation of the level of corruption that exists in the fake left that is the unDemocratic Party of America these days. This is a footnote that gets lost in the discussion far too often.
Which leads me to ask one simple question: since when is it considered unacceptable behavior to expose the truth about corruption at the highest ranks in the American political system?
The Declassified Russian Hacking “Intelligence” Report Is Devoid of Any Evidence and Apparently Based on Previous Lies (archive)

Yesterday (Friday Jan. 6th 2017) around 1pm, the Department of National Intelligence released their declassified report (PDF) on the Russian hacking story or the Russian “influence” story that has been taking shape here in the States surrounding Hillary Clinton’s crash and burn presidential campaign of 2016.
At about the same time, a man got off a plane in Florida and took a gun from his checked bag and opened fire on people in the baggage claim area of an airport, emptying 3 clips before lying down on the ground and waiting to be arrested. That man claimed earlier that the CIA had been trying to force him to watch “ISIS” videos.
Each and every page of the declassified report contains in the top header an official disclaimer of sorts which reads:
“This report is a declassified version of a highly classified assessment; its conclusions are identical to those in the highly classified assessment but this version does not include the full supporting information on key elements of the influence campaign.”
Key here is the fact that the report contains no facts. None. Zip. Zilch. No evidence reported in the report whatsoever.
Also key is the word “assessment” and in the beginning of the declassified report, they take the time to explain that term:
“When Intelligence Community analysts use words such as “we assess” or “we judge,” they are conveying an analytic assessment or judgment. Some analytic judgments are based directly on collected information; others rest on previous judgments, which serve as building blocks in rigorous analysis“
“(O)thers rest on previous judgments”. Got that? No evidence reported in this report and they tell you right off the bat that in all likelihood, this “assessment” is based on “previous” assessment, which as we all know, were bullshit. “Grizzly steppe” anyone?
Hamas ready to free 34 Gaza captives as part of cease-fire deal

Palestinian resistance group Hamas is prepared to release 34 hostages as part of the "first phase" of a potential deal with Israel, a Hamas official announced Sunday.
The development comes following reports of resumed indirect truce and hostage negotiations in Qatar.

Israeli forces block food to north Gaza’s Indonesian Hospital to force doctors out

The Israeli regime forces have blocked the supply of water and food to northern Gaza’s Indonesian Hospital to force the doctors there to flee.
The doctors are refusing to leave their patients behind, the nongovernmental organization that funded the supplies to the Indonesia Hospital said on Sunday.
The Indonesia Hospital in Beit Lahiya near the Jabalia refugee camp was built from donations organized by the Jakarta-based Medical Emergency Rescue Committee.
The four-story facility has been sheltering more than a dozen patients, caregivers, and health workers from Gaza’s Kamal Adwan hospital, which was destroyed in December after months of relentless Israeli attacks.
The doctors who have remained in the building are defying orders to leave the Indonesia Hospital, MER-C said, adding that they last received food aid from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
“They are still holding out. The condition is deteriorating, there’s a lack of water and food,” Marissa Noriti, a MER-C volunteer in Deir el-Balah told media via WhatsApp.
“The Israeli occupation forces are blocking supply … The doctors are staying for the patients. They refuse to leave them behind.”...

Israeli lawmakers call on military to destroy food, water and power sources in Gaza

Eight members of the Israeli Knesset (parliament) have called upon the regime’s minister of military affairs Israel Katz to instruct the occupation army to destroy all water, food and energy sources in the Gaza Strip “to achieve the war goals.”
The letter to Katz asserted “the Israeli military’s operations were failing to achieve the political objectives set for the war”, the Israeli Haaretz daily newspaper reported.
Despite Israel’s complete siege on the Gaza Strip and the reduction in aid being allowed into the coastal territory, the legislators said the current plans to displace north Gaza residents to the south are not being implemented “properly”.
The Knesset members urged Katz to re-examine war strategies, asserting that after besieging northern Gaza and displacing its residents, the Israeli military should destroy all energy, food and water sources in the area.

Security Council Debates Israeli Attacks on Hospitals Allegedly Misused by Hamas, as UN Rights Chief Urges Independent Probes

Following Israel’s 27 December attack on the last functioning hospital in north Gaza, the Security Council today heard calls for urgent international action to protect civilians and ensure accountability, including independent investigations into these incidents and the alleged misuse of medical facilities by Hamas.
“A human-rights catastrophe continues to unfold in Gaza before the eyes of the world,” said Volker Türk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. Citing a recent report by his Office, he pointed to a pattern of attacks on hospitals between 7 October 2023 and 30 June 2024 that begin with Israeli airstrikes and are followed by ground raids and the detention of patients and staff — “leaving the hospital essentially non-functional”. Meanwhile, Hamas and other armed groups continue to reportedly operate behind civilian infrastructure, including health facilities, exposing them to attacks.
Israel’s recent attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital — the last functioning hospital in north Gaza — “reflects the patterns of attacks documented in the report”, he said, stating that Israeli military operations in and around hospitals across Gaza “have had a terrible impact, precisely at a time of massive demands on healthcare due to the ongoing conflict”. Underscoring that military operations must always distinguish between military targets and civilians, he observed: “The use of heavy weapons against hospitals is difficult to reconcile with that principle.”
While noting that Israel has alleged that hospitals were being improperly used for military purposes, he stated that Israel “has not provided sufficient information to substantiate many of these claims”. Against that backdrop, he called for independent, thorough and transparent investigations into all Israeli attacks on hospitals, healthcare infrastructure and medical personnel, as well as the alleged misuse of such facilities.

Can Anyone Tell Me What Chance Is?

UPDATE: Turns out she's a Guinea Hen.
Sometime just after Thanksgiving, Chance the Bird showed up in the neighborhood.
I am guessing Chance the Bird is a turkey someone bought for a fresh Thanksgiving meal and either Chance was more wily than they expected or they didn't have the heart to do him/her in themselves.
I could be wrong. Could be a magpie for all I know. Or a raven.
What follows are images of Chance the Bird visiting the White Trash Veranda and hanging out in my backyard.
I have tried to block him/her in of sorts but I know he/she can get over the 3' fencing pretty easily.
Will contact rescue place again however my first calls went unanswered.
Perhaps Busch Gardens would like Chance the Bird.

It is not just isolated voices advocating for normalization; the new Syrian government and its backers appear determined to establish ties with Israel, even as Israel continues its occupation of Syrian territory and the bombardment of what remains of its infrastructure. While apologists attempt to justify Damascus’s Israel-friendly comments, the writing on the wall has long been clear.
The new Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) backed Mayor of Damascus, Maher Marwan, stirred controversy last week when he called for normalization with Israel. Even though Damascus, the city he now governs, endures frequent Israeli airstrikes, Marwan defended his stance in an interview with NPR. “Our problem is not with Israel,” he stated, adding, “We don’t want to meddle in anything that will threaten Israel’s security.”
Following widespread public backlash, the HTS-led government in Damascus released a statement addressing Marwan’s remarks. The statement proclaimed that Marwan’s comments didn’t necessarily reflect the policies of the al-Jolani government, but it stopped short of explicitly denying his call for normalization with Israel.
The sentiments expressed by Marwan are consistent with those of Syria’s de facto leader, Ahmed al-Shara’a, known more commonly by his ISIS-associated moniker, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani. Al-Jolani once said that Syrian territory must not be used as a launching pad for conflict with Israel. He emphasized, “We do not want any conflict, whether with Israel or anyone else.”...

There is a goose or duck in my backyard making a hell of a racket. He's been on the block a couple of days. Shooed him out of my yard Monday hoping he would find his way back to the retention pond one block to the east but no such luck. Now he is back there. Threw some bread his way. He acted like they were ninja stars or some shit. He might find them later.
I've been sick for a little while. Not bronchitis at least but still a pain in the ass. Lots of Theraflu and Nyquil and sleep.

Until... duck. Or goose. Or whatever he is started yapping his duck SOS call.
