A growing number of oil tankers are rerouting away from the strategic Strait of Hormuz ahead of a planned US naval blockade set to begin Monday, Reuters reported, citing shipping data and official statements.
Trump issued threats against vessels that continue making transit payments to Iranian authorities, while also announcing that the US Navy would commence mine clearance operations in the Strait. The US president alleged, without providing evidence, that Iran had placed mines in the waterway.
