Israeli forces kill four aid seekers, injure several others in Gaza as starvation worsens

Israeli forces have opened fire at a group of Palestinians seeking humanitarian aid in Gaza, killing at least four people, medical sources said, as hospitals in the besieged territory record more deaths from famine and malnutrition.

The official Palestinian WAFA news agency, citing the sources, reported that Israeli troops directly targeted the civilians in the central Wadi Gaza area on Saturday. Several others were wounded in the shootout as well.

The development comes as more than 1,000 Palestinians seeking aid have been killed by Israeli forces near aid distribution sites run by the so-called US and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which launched operations in late May.

The GHF has received considerable criticism from the UN and other humanitarian organizations for its failure to supply adequate aid and for the critical security situation at and around its aid distribution points.
