The Battle of Lepanto took place on 7 October 1571 when a fleet of the Holy League, a coalition of southern European Catholic maritime states, decisively defeated the main fleet of the Ottoman Empire in five hours of fighting on the northern edge of the Gulf of Corinth, off western Greece. The Ottoman forces sailing westwards from their naval station in Lepanto met the Holy League forces, which had come from Messina, Sicily, where they had previously gathered. That was the fate of my own country’s empire of the past (16th century Portugal), which went down in a single day: at the huge battle of Alcבcer Quibir (al Quasr al-kibr), known by Arabs as the Battle of Three Kings, which took place on 4 August 1578.;
portugal was even centuries after this (mid- late 1800's) a major actor in the free-for-all in carving up africa into zones of control, so that the major powers wouldn't have to go to war against each other over it:
Fourteen countries were represented by a plethora of ambassadors when the conference opened in Berlin on November 15, 1884. The countries represented at the time included Austria-Hungary, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden-Norway (unified from 1814-1905), Turkey, and the United States of America. Of these fourteen nations, France, Germany, Great Britain, and Portugal were the major players in the conference, controlling most of colonial Africa at the time.
So now u know why that huge voting bloc of countries in AFRICA just a week ago put a torpedo (until 2024) in that WHO self-annointed power grab!
And why just days ago 'the west' announced (under the lie of saying it's for their trading with russia outside the dollar) that they're drawing up sanctions against pretty much all of Africa (1.4 billion, 1/6 exactly of world pop.)!
