Armed militia members are serving as Israeli agents in Gaza: Investigation

Al Jazeera is set to release a new investigation on armed groups in Gaza accused of collaborating with the Israeli military against Palestinians, detailing their names, movements and training locations, as Israel’s genocidal war on the enclave continues unabated.

The investigation, a new episode of the programme What is Hidden is Greater, by Al Jazeera journalist Tamer Almisshal, will be broadcast at 9pm in Doha (18:00 GMT) on Friday. It includes audio and video material that the network says documents how individuals inside Gaza were recruited and operated.

The investigation reveals how the armed groups have been moving freely from northern to southern Gaza behind the so-called “yellow line” – the self-proclaimed demarcation line, effectively a buffer zone, where the Israeli army is entrenched under the first phase of the Gaza “ceasefire” that came into effect in October.

Israel has repeatedly violated the “ceasefire” on a near-daily basis, killing more than 525 Palestinians.

Israeli collaborator Yasser Abu Shabab reportedly killed in Gaza

Israeli collaborator and Daesh-linked leader Yasser Abu Shabab, participating in looting aid and targeting Palestinian civilians, has been reportedly killed in Gaza, according to local media.

Several Israeli outlets reported that he was killed on Thursday, though details regarding who was responsible for his killing or the circumstances surrounding it have not been confirmed.

The incident was said to have taken place in Rafah, in southern Gaza—an area currently under full Israeli control.

Israeli Channel 12 initially reported that Abu Shabab had been taken to Soroka Hospital after being struck, where he was later pronounced dead. The hospital, however, denied receiving him.

Channel 12 journalist Amit Segal described Abu Shabab’s reported killing as a “bad development for Israel,” highlighting his role as a local collaborator.

Abu Shabab emerged during the two-year genocidal war as the head of the Popular Forces, looting aid and killing or kidnapping Palestinian civilians and Hamas fighters as well as collaborating with Israeli forces.

Hamas issues 10-day ultimatum to Daesh-linked group leader to surrender over ties to Israel

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has given Yasser Jihad Abu Shabab, leader of a Daesh-linked group, 10 days to surrender to authorities, waning he will be tried in absentia if he fails to comply.

Abu Shabab faces charges of treason, armed rebellion, and forming an armed gang.

Palestinian and international reports have described the group as a "militia" cooperating with Israeli forces, particularly in areas of Israeli military control east of Rafah near the Karam Abu Salem crossing.

Hamas’ armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, has slammed Abu Shabab for leading a network of collaborators recruited by Israel to sow chaos in the Gaza Strip.

This marks the first such public move by Hamas since Israel began its genocidal war on Gaza 21 months ago.
