House Passes 2027 NDAA With Section to Integrate US and Israeli Militaries

(As I told you, they always get just enough Dems to cross the aisle to pass the really important fascist stuff)

from AntiWar

The House on Wednesday passed its version of the massive $1.15 trillion 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes Section 219 (formerly Section 224), a provision to further integrate the US and Israeli militaries, a scheme Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described as “my plan.”

The NDAA passed largely along party lines in a 216-212 vote. Seven Republicans voted against it, and two didn’t vote, meaning that the Democrats could have blocked the legislation, but six Democrats voted yes on the sweeping military spending bill despite President Trump’s continued war against Iran, which was launched without congressional authorization.

The Democrats who voted for the bill include Reps. Henry Cuellar (TX), Donald G. Davis (NC), Jared F. Golden (ME), Vicente Gonzalez (TX), Adam Gray (CA), and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA).

The Republicans who voted against the legislation include Reps. Thomas Massie (KY), Chip Roy (TX), Anna Paulina Luna (FL), Harriet M. Hageman (WY), Elijah Crane (AZ), Tim Burchett (TN), and Josh Brecheen (OK).

The vote came after the House Rules Committee didn’t allow a vote on an amendment introduced by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) to strip Section 219 from the NDAA. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), who supported Massie’s effort, has said he would “fight to strip this amendment in the conference between the House and the Senate,” when the two chambers negotiate the final NDAA.

The Senate’s version of the NDAA also includes a provision to integrate the two militaries, but the legislation was blocked by Senate Democrats last week over President Trump’s war with Iran, which hasn’t been authorized by Congress and has continued despite both chambers passing a concurrent War Powers Resolution directing the president to end the conflict.

Pentagon Raises Israeli Spy Threat as NDAA Seeks Deeper Defense Ties

from Military (dot) com

The Pentagon's Defense Intelligence Agency recently elevated Israel's counterintelligence threat designation to “critical,” the highest level in its system.

The assessment was raised in recent weeks, though officials reportedly did not disclose the exact date of the change. The designation became public June 6. The disclosure comes as Congress considers legislation that would significantly expand defense technology cooperation between the United States and Israel.

U.S. officials reportedly believe Israeli intelligence services have intensified efforts to collect information regarding internal American deliberations involving Iran and conflicts in the Middle East. Officials told NBC that those concerns prompted the Defense Intelligence Agency to raise the threat designation. Israeli officials denied the allegations and reiterated that Israel does not conduct espionage operations against the United States.

The White House and Israel have denied the allegations described in those reports.

The reported assessment has drawn attention because it became public while lawmakers are debating a provision in the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would deepen defense technology cooperation and industrial integration between the two countries.

The reported designation does not mean Israel is considered an enemy nation. Rather, it reflects the Pentagon’s assessment of the counterintelligence risk posed by potential intelligence-collection activities...

Democrat fails to block US measure to deepen Israel military cooperation

' On June 1, 2026, Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu wrote a letter to representative Marlin Stutzman thanking Stutzman for endorsing a plan for a "new framework of joint defense cooperation, codevelopment, coproduction and mutual investment in areas including advanced missile defense, artificial intelligence unmanned systems, cybersecurity and next generation military platforms."[27] Responsible Statecraft described Netanyahu's letter as an endorsement of Section 224 of the 2027 NDAA, writing that the Section "essentially transforms Israel from a top U.S. aid recipient to a full member of the U.S. defense and intelligence apparatus."[28]  'g US/Israel Futures Act Feb. 2026

from al Jazeera

A congressional panel in the United States has rejected an effort to revoke a provision from the defence budget that would further integrate the US and Israeli militaries.

An amendment to sink the pro-Israel measure, introduced by Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna, failed in a voice vote on Thursday in the House Armed Services Committee.

That defeat paves the way for the proposal to advance to the floor of the House of Representatives.
