Global Sumud Flotilla UPDATES

by Scott Creighton

Last night provided the first real bit of drama in this saga. After the Italian ship cut and ran leaving the flotilla folks to fend for themselves (so much for their promise to stick around and pick people out of the water if shit went south), the leaders of the group thought they might be attacked by the IDF so they got everyone up and dressed and into their life preservers so they could sit around on the decks of the boats waiting like good little protesters for the boarding parties which never came.

But it made for good social media theater, which may have been the point all along.

Gotta get those views.

Right now they are sailing under clear blue skies in beautiful conditions, picture perfect for the Mediterranean Sea. By my calculations (from the image from the Global Sumud Tracker website) they are currently 118 miles from the coast of Gaza.

Here is a live stream (H/T AuntBB) showing a number of vessels in the flotilla peacefully cruising to Palestine.

I am not surprised the Italian ship took a powder. Their fascist prime minister makes no bones about her support for all things Israel.

She recently said the Global Sumud Flotilla could 'blow up' the peace deal, since of course the capitulation agreement depends on the people of Gaza suffering as much as possible.

'Earlier, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told the activists to stop the journey, saying they risked derailing a US plan to end the war.

Meloni said the US proposal had sparked "hope" of ending the Israel-Hamas war, adding it was "a fragile balance, which many would be happy to destroy".

"I fear that the flotilla's attempt to break the Israeli naval blockade could serve as a pretext to do so," Meloni said.' BBC

I don't believe they can make Gaza before nightfall and that's a problem because the Glorious Israelis like to attack at night since we gave them night vision gear and since they are cowards at heart.

They need every advantage.

So my guess is they will be alright until this evening at which time all bets are off.

Again, I want to give them credit for moving on with the operation and telling the Italians to go fuck themselves.

Hopefully either the Egyptians or the Turks will step up and join the flotilla in order to provide a little security for the activists on board.

Not holding my breath.

Good luck flotilla folks.

The world is watching.
