The Ceuta Operation: Washington Wrote the Script in March, Morocco Ran It in July

from AntiWar

Seventy-two bodies came out of the water at Tarajal, and the sea kept giving some of them back through the weekend. They drowned in sight of Europe, in the fourteen-kilometer channel where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, reaching for a seven-square-mile scrap of Spain on the African shore. Most were young men. Some were children. They died over three days at the end of July, crushed against a breakwater barrier or pulled under while swimming around it, and within forty-eight hours of the last of them entering the water more than forty-eight thousand of the living had turned and walked back into Morocco.

Between fifty and sixty thousand people crossed into Ceuta in seventy-two hours. The enclave holds about ninety thousand. In three days its population rose by seventy percent and then drained away, a tide come in and gone out on command. Spain’s prime minister called the crossing an attack and a violation of the country’s territorial integrity, and sent in the army.

Tides do not take instruction. States do. A crowd of sixty thousand does not gather the way weather gathers. It gathers because people are told where and when, because they travel, some of them from the far side of a country, because they arrive together, and because the security apparatus of one of the most heavily policed states in North Africa elects not to stop them. Each of those is a decision, and the decisions were Rabat’s to make...

Israeli forces raid multiple West Bank areas, abduct Palestinians as settlers attack homes, vehicles

from Press TV

On Tuesday, the forces raided residential areas, searched Palestinian homes, and used live fire, stun grenades, and tear gas during operations in several West Bank areas, according to the Palestinian Shehab News Agency.

At least eight young men were abducted during the raids.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said a Palestinian civilian was shot and wounded during an Israeli military raid in eastern Nablus. Israeli troops also threw tear gas grenades at civilians as the assault continued in the area.

In Jenin in northern West Bank, Israeli forces entered the towns of Qabatiya, Fahma, and Kafr Ra'i. The forces fired stun grenades during raids in Fahma and Kafr Ra'i.

Israel raises issues with US-backed Gaza plan hailed by Trump

(The ONLY plan Netanyahu will accept is a concentration camp belonging to the Zionists, serving their oligarchs, housing Palestinians. Nothing else will do for Bibi.)

from Daily Sabah

Israel has raised concerns with the U.S. over a Gaza plan praised by President Trump, after Hamas agreed to disarm, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Monday.

"Israel has conveyed its comments and concerns on the proposed framework to our American counterparts. The version that has been made public does not reflect Israel's positions," Doron Spielman, spokesman for the prime minister's office, told AFP.

He claimed that Israeli intelligence had allegedly found that Hamas had been rearming and recruiting forces since a cease-fire announced by Trump in October, which has reduced the level of violence although Israel has kept up strikes.

Hamas announced Friday that it had agreed to the next stage of a deal that includes handing over weapons to a nascent Palestinian governing committee.

Hamas disarmament efforts are doomed to fail, IRGC says

from Tehran Times

In a statement marking the second anniversary of Haniyeh's assassination, the IRGC said any response to 'major crimes" would be 'firm and crushing,' adding that plans aimed at disarming Hamas had already suffered a strategic defeat.

The statement asserted that the anti-Israel resistance remains resilient and predicted that the Palestinians' ultimate victory over the occupying forces is closer than their adversaries expect. It further stated that anti-Zionist discourse has evolved into the dominant global narrative.

The IRGC described Haniyeh's assassination in Tehran—while he was attending the inauguration ceremony of Iran's president as an official guest—as 'a grave crime' and 'a flagrant violation of international law, Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.'
