EXACTLY 322 years ago this month, the 13 year long War of Spanish Succession started. THE most wide-covering in area since the horrific 30 Years War, & the biggest till the Seven Years War (French Indian War) of 1756-63, which was truly the first post-Renaissance "modern-era" WORLD WAR.
It even featured, right in the middle of it 1709, a true "Year without a summer" in Europe/Scandinavia, resulting in poor/no crops, moldy grains etc. Dunno which eruption that was.
& mass starvation, but don't worry that was only in the lower classes . Nobility & royalty made out just fine.
Just like the very well known later 1816 crop season, after Tambora blew in spring of 1815.
