Abby Martin is the left version of Astro-Turf Adam and deserves the same credibility
Though she and her assets do everything to present her as such, Abby Martin is not alternative, she is not a dissident and she is not opposed to the corporatist neo-liberal status quo.
Abby Martin is a careerist who has sold out to the “3rd Way” neo-liberal centrist establishment and it shows over and over again in her pathetic efforts to gin up support for whatever agenda the globalists have on the menu in their desperate quest of establishing a New World Order.
I don’t delve much into the taking down other activists. I only do so when they rise to a certain level of visibility and still only then when they really deserve it and since Abby dearest has gained just such a standing in the alternative “progressive”-minded community without further ado, let’s lite this candle, and do our part to put an end to her propaganda campaign.
Let’s follow this idiot over the bridge to D.C.! Does this image make anyone else think of Adam Pearlman a.k.a. Adam Gadhan or is it just me?
Hell, it worked pretty well getting rid of that other RT host Adam Kokesh didn’t it? When the “interwebs” decide to expose a fraud in a concerted public manner… hell hath no fury like a movement scorned. The libertarians figured out pretty quick that Adam VS The Man (read as “Adam Services the Man”) was setting them up to be arrested in D.C. or at least have their guns confiscated, so they dumped him like a hot rock and after which, he busted on guns and drugs charges and sank to the bottom of obscurity faster than the Titanic.
Even though his wealthy daddy got him off without prison time for his multiple drugs and weapons charges (same types of charges that put poor black people in prison for years) , now he’s reduced to publishing ebooks promising not to get busted for drugs again.
Not a bad example of how an open and independent internet can work if you ask me, so let’s get to work on that other fraud, Abby Martin, shall we?
First things first, let’s give some credit where credit is due:
Igor Rasputin has a Twit Longer piece about some rather disturbing connections between Abby Martin’s staff and various 3rd Way U.S. congress-critters.
“If you do a Google or Twitter search to see how many times Abby Martin’s “Breaking the Set” mentioned or criticized Republican war monger U.S. Senator John McCain, you come up quite empty. In fact, without mentioning McCain, Abby Martin & “Breaking the Set” has served as his mouth piece by her parallel editorial positions on Ukraine, Crimea, Syria as well as having guests who tow the McCain line on the show to debate & promote his lies.” Igor Rasputin
Igor makes a good point here in that isn’t it odd that the supposedly “progressive” Abby Martin seems to spend an increasingly disproportionate amount of time promoting the neo-Con efforts of war-mongers like John McCain. Of course, one might ask that same question of the Obama administration, the CHANGE administration.
Over at The Truth Serum, they recently posted an article which dealt with the same issues and they concluded that RT and specifically Breaking the Set, Abby’s show, had been “infiltrated”

Barrett is the Policy and Media Manager of The Syrian Emergency Task Force. The SETF organised the visit to Syria of Senator John McCain, a visit which yielded this now infamous photograph of McCain with some rather unsavoury characters” The Truth Serum
Really? Breaking the Set featured a neo-liberal regime change activist and John McCain supporter as an expert in their discussion about “ISIS” and Syria? Are you kidding?
No, unfortunately, I’m not.
Here’s the video. The section of the show starts at 2:09 after the ridiculous intro featuring Abby pretending to be frustrated making sense out of all the chaos of the news these days. There’s some hip-hop as well to attract the younger crowd I suppose. Notice just how many pro-Obama administration pro-war talking points Manuel Rapalo hits on during the first few minutes of this horrible bit of uninformed propaganda. Honestly this is about as bad if not worse than what Fox News used to do on the Iraq war during the Bush years.
Manuel Rapalo – “The U.S. along with a coalition of international partners (Coalition of the Willing?) has been engaged militarily against members of the Islamic militant group ‘ISIS” for almost two months now… This quickly evolving conflict is extremely complicated… just today reports came out that Iraqi pilots mistakenly dropped food and arms to the people they are fighting against. So to help us gain a clear understanding of what this campaign is really about, I’m joined by Evan Barrett, political adviser to the Coalition for a Democratic Syria“
OK. So in order to help figure out what this whole thing is about, or more specifically, to provide disinformation and lies to his audience about the “ISIS Crisis”, Rapalo chooses to bring in a propagandist for the regime change organization, the Coalition for a Democratic Syria. The same guy who did indeed plan McCain’s trip to Syria to meet with various regime change terrorist groups our State Department had hired to destabilize and terrorize Syria.
As a political adviser of that organization, Evan Barrett needs to be held accountable for such statements issued by that organization in the past, including this one:
CDS Welcomes White House Statement on Assad Regime Use of Chemical Weapons ““This statement by the White House today is a step in the right direction for United States policy on Syria. With over 4 million internally displaced persons, over 1.6 million refugees, and hundreds dying everyday, immediate assistance to the Free Syrian Army and Syrian Coalition is crucial. We welcome this increased engagement by the U.S. and hope it will quickly translate into concrete actions to turn the tide of the conflict on the ground and protect Syrian civilians from chemical weapons attacks, aircraft, scud missiles, and mortar fire. We hope such actions include safe zones in addition to strategic arming of the vetted elements of the Free Syrian Army.”
There is no doubt that the Syrian government did not use chemical weapons on it’s own people and the reality is, the very folks that the CDS seek to empower and equip inside Syria are the ones who DID USE THE CHEMICAL WEAPONS on several occasions against Syrian military forces and civilians alike.
UN Mission Report Confirms that “Opposition” Rebels Used Chemical Weapons against Civilians and Government Forces “The United Nations Mission collected credible information that corroborates the allegations that chemical weapons were used in Khan al Asal on 19 March 2013 against soldiers and civilians.” “The United Nations Mission collected evidence that suggests that chemical weapons were used in Ashrafiah Sahnaya on 25 August 2013 on a small scale against soldiers.” “The United Nations Mission collected evidence consistent with the probable use of chemical weapons in Jobar on 24 August on a relatively small scale against soldiers…”
The fact is, the chemical weapons attack was a false flag operation designed to give Obama cover for entering into the Syrian conflict, which the White House created in the first place. It backfired almost immediately, again thanks to an open internet, and was subsequently dropped from the talking points memos almost as quickly as it turned up.
Now you can try to justify CDS’ position on this by saying they issued their support letter prior to the facts on the ground becoming public but that isn’t actually true is it? Many independent journalists, myself included, understood the chemical weapons attack to be a false flag event almost immediately because the truth was out there to find, if one were so inclined to look for it.
But that doesn’t matter. This interview on RT’s Breaking the Set with this regime change propagandist took place in early Oct. of this year.
How could any self-respecting news agency have this lying propagandist on their show supposedly being called upon to give a truthful explanation of what is happening in Syria?
Let’s get back to the interview and see where it went from there. After introducing this propagandist as an “expert” on the Syrian situation (remember this guy COMPLETELY got it wrong with regard to the chemical weapons attacks):
Manuel Rapalo -“We’ve seen airstrikes in Iraq, we’ve seen airstrikes in Syria… is it safe too say there is no non-violent solution left to deal with “ISIS”?
Evan Barrett - “Well, we’ve come down a certain road and I think we are in a position where this threat has to be addressed militarily but I would certainly say the solution to terror in the region and the world is free and open states that account for participation from diverse sectors of their populations and if the United States had more robustly supported the Arab Spring… we would not have gotten to this place where the international community must address “ISIS”
In Iraq, the United States is backing a brutal dictatorship which routinely rounds up dissidents and even slaughters them in protests. That is why there is a legitimate uprising in the country against our puppet regime.
In Syria, the United States and people like Evan Barrett (and now we can obviously include RT’s Manuel Rapalo and Abby Martin) are dedicated to overthrowing a democratically elected and very popular leader Bashar Assad.
Even RT has to admit that simple and obvious fact:
“The sweeping election victory of Bashar Assad not only shows the depth and breadth of popular support for his government, but also it demands an objective interpretation of events inside Syria. ” RT
Not only does this “expert” on the region want to further arm the kinds of terrorists in the area that use chemical weapons on civilian populations, but he also is 100% wrong in his interpretation of the political facts on the ground in Iraq and Syria.
He’s also completely wrong about “ISIS”:
Evan Barrett - “I want to go back to one thing you said – first of all from my years of study of the region and from my time in the region, I have to reject any suggestion that the United States played a part in forming ISIS. You know… I certainly think the evidence and the history of the Assad regime shows they actively facilitated the rise of ISIS”
How about that for complete disinformation? Assad created ISIS? The State Department and our allies in the region had nothing to do with it? Really? Do I need to address that stupidity?
You might notice Evan’s lapel pin. It’s modeled after the typical AIPAC lapel pin which shows an American flag flying alongside one from Israel. In this case, his shows an American flag flying proudly beside one of Syria. But not the CURRENT Syria… rather the one from years gone by when Syria was a client state of the French and ruled by a brutal oligarchy.
I could keep going with this ridiculous bit of propaganda from Breaking the Set, but honestly, it’s depressing. Watch the interview here if you like. I won’t put that kind of disinfo propaganda on my website.
So instead, let’s a look at another contribution from Mr. Rapalo. In this one, he is promoting a video with Mr. Mouaz Moustafa in which he praises Moustafa for helping John McCain meet with some terrorists (who later used chemical weapons on civilians in Syria and possibly even the leader of “ISIS”)
Here’s an important little fact, remember that coalition that Mr. Barrett belongs to that supports the terrorists who used chemical weapons on civilians in Syria? Guess who’s a board member of that group? You guessed it, Mouaz Moustafa.
He’s also the executive director of yet another regime change terrorist backing NGO called the Syrian Emergency Task Force (Mr. Barrett serves with that group as well as the Policy and Media Manager):
Mr. Moustafa was born and raised in Damascus, Syria before moving to the US as a teenager. He is the current Executive Director for SETF, Political Director for UFS (United For a Free Syria), as well as a board member of the Coalition for a Democratic Syria (CDS). As former staffer for Congressman Vic Snyder and Senator Blanche Lincoln, Mr. Moustafa spent four and a half years working in Congress before leaving to work briefly with Egyptian opposition. Mr. Moustafa also worked with the Libyan Revolution. During this period, Mr. Moustafa was the Executive Director of the Libyan Council of North America (LCNA), Political Director of the Libyan Emergency Task Force (LETF), and worked closely with top officials within the Transitional National Council (TNC). Mr. Moustafa joined SETF in the fall of 2011 to help advocate on behalf of the pro-democracy movement in his native Syria. Moustafa boasts an extensive network of Syrian activists, opposition figures, and FSA commanders with whom he is in regular contact.
Not only did this organization set up the trip John McCain took to Syria and Turkey to meet with terrorists who kill women and kids so we can crush a democratically elected and popularly supported government in Syria, they also more recently set up YET ANOTHER little meeting this past September between terrorism leaders and members of congress. Guess they didn’t learn from the last time, huh?
Sep 26, 2014 SETF organized a meeting between Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois and Rep. George Holding, R-North Carolina and more than 20 Syrian rebel commanders, including members of Christian opposition groups. A historic agreement was signed by moderate Muslim rebel groups fighting under the Supreme Military Council of Syria to form an alliance with the predominantly Christian Syriac Military Council in the fight against ISIS and President Bashar al-Assad SETF
So I think it’s fair too say, Abby Martin’s producer is nothing more than a propagandist working on behalf of globalist interests. Now, you might ask what that has to do with Abby…
Well, Abby uses this guy in her show all the time building up his credibility. Here’s an example of the two of them doing a bit about how congress should have given 3.7 billion dollars to the Executive branch when they asked for it to save all those BILLIONS of unaccompanied Mexican children that were being bused to the border to create a crisis this past summer. Open borders and hence Comprehensive Immigration Reform is a big part of the neo-libral globalist agenda.
Some blogger did an interview with Rapalo in which he describes the work he does for Abby Martin;
DD You are the producer of Breaking The Set, hosted by Abby Martin. What kind of work goes into producing this show? How does this balance with your life outside of the job?
MR Wow, I don’t even know where to begin. Producing this show is a 24/7 gig, between booking guests, digging for the stories that the corporate media misses (either deliberately or not), fact checking our sources, writing and timing the show and God knows what else… it can really be overwhelming sometimes, and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t exhausting. But it’s a team effort, and we care deeply about the content and believe in it strongly, that makes it worth it. Work definitely bleeds into my personal life, but I’ve been lucky enough to surround myself with amazing friends and family who both inspire me and keep me from going crazy.
This guy books guests, writes the copy, does the fact checking and produces Abby Martin’s show Breaking the Set. The guys who we have already proven to be nothing more than a full on asset for the globalist agenda in places like Libya, Syria and Iraq.
All of this leads up to this one moment of remarkable hypocrisy on Abby Martin’s part. Her staff, her guests, they are the biggest proponents of the United States’ illegal regime change operations overseas and yet, back in March of this year, Abby did a little editorializing at the end of one of her shows and had this too say about the situation in Crimea:
“Just because I work here for RT, doesn’t mean I don’t have editorial independence,” said Martin. “I cannot stress how strongly I am against any intervention in a sovereign nation’s affairs. What Russia did is wrong… military aggression is never the answer and I will not stand here and apologize or defend military aggression” UPI
Russia had nothing to do with Ukraine. The Obama administration destabilized the country with the help of neo-Nazi fascist because the government was leaning toward refusing to join the EU. So they ran a fake color revolution and have now installed another brutal dictator (don’t forget the various false flag attacks staged during that regime change operation like the downing of flight MH17 and the burning of dissidents in a public building) who is currently shelling eastern Ukraine once again, killing more and more civilians.
That’s a fucking fact. Crimea wanted to align themselves with Russia rather than the unelected puppet regime of the West and so they VOTED FOR IT in an open referendum. Fact.
Russia had NOTHING to do with it.
The Obama backed unelected regime in Ukraine led by technocrat oligarchs are instituting LEGALIZED SLAVERY. Yes, slavery folks. And that is apparently what our friend Abby Martin supports. In fact, US military forces are now training some new terrorist groups to go into eastern Ukraine and destabilize that part of the country. I guess Abby supports them as well? We know her producer does.
But, apparently Abby’s hypocrisy knows no limits. She also said this in that same monologue :
Furthermore, the coverage I have seen of Ukraine has been truly disappointing from all sides of the media spectrum and rife with disinformation.” UPI
Everything Abby Martin does is disinformation and it is pretty obvious that her shelf life has run out, like that of her former colleague Adam Kokesh.
I hope that people circulate this article and visit the links I posted to the others who seem to have had enough with Ms. Martin.
