UPDATE: the Mikeno is an aid ship so maybe some good will come of this for the people of Gaza
Well that's it. For all it's promise and all the efforts from those on board and those left behind, for all the donations of food, supplies, aid and time... all of those resources are now the property of the Glorious IDF and will undoubtedly be taken straight to the West Bank and given to the rabid Zionist settler criminal scum.
Why?
Because the steering committee had all the boats wait off the coast of Crete for 3 1/2 days until the Friendship Seas exercise was over before making way through that area on to Gaza.
They are all reported as either 'intercepted' or as 'presumed intercepted' today on the Global Sumud Flotilla tracker website.
The GSF website claims a bunch of the boats got thru and I certainly hope that is the case, but unless they tossed their GPS tracking hardware overboard, those listed as 'presumed intercepted' don't seem to be going anywhere.Their live-stream is showing nothing but posters from months ago.
According to the tracker, there is one boat, the Mikeno, flagged out of Ramallah, still making way to Gaza and currently moving at 0 knots inside Gaza's territorial waters.
It is unclear what or who it is carrying.
It would appear some of the vessels are now sailing for Ashdod, the Israeli port north of Gaza. This is where they will all be taken and their supplies off-loaded for transport to the waiting scum-bag settlers in the West Bank.
A couple others appear to have tried to flee, heading north in the Mediterranean, only to be tracked down and hijacked by the Glorious Israelis while heading away from Gaza, not toward it.
Because Glorious Isreal can commit any crime they want, don't you know.
Thus far there are no reports of injuries or of any resistance being presented to the IDF vessels of any kind by the vast majority of the boats involved. Seems like they trained so hard on how to surrender, they never even considered any other action.
The flotilla folks should hire Somali pirates to crew the next attempt rather than influencers, activists and grifters.
Don't get me wrong. I give them all the credit they deserve. They went out there and gave it a shot. And for that they deserve credit.
However, they seem to have been satisfied 'bringing attention to the cause' from the start rather than going all in to get food to starving children at all costs. I mean that is supposed to be the idea, right?
Or am I somehow just an asshole for pointing that out?
On May 31 2010 ( I covered it back then by the way), the Gaza Freedom Flotilla was raided by the IDF, illegally in international waters.

All of those killed were Turkish.
I certainly do not blame the activists on board those vessels for peacefully surrendering to the brutality of the IDF.
What I suggest is maybe next time the organizers decide to leave the influencers and aging activists, journalists, writers and politicians back home on the docks and send vessels and crew who can better deal with what is inevitably going to happen.
Or maybe, just maybe, the rest of the world gets off their asses and sends a couple warships, attack helicopters and subs to accompany the next freedom flotilla... before the whole of Gaza is remade into Israel's playground for the rich and famous.
Maybe that would be nice.

BTW... fuck Israel. It will forever be known as an abomination in the eyes of humanity for the occupation and genocide they are committing.
