Netanyahu’s son accuses Shin Bet of staging coup against Israel’s PM

The son of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Israel's internal spy agency, known as Shin Bet, of staging "a coup" against his father.

Yair Netanyahu made the claim in a series of posts published on social media platform X on Monday.

His remarks came as the prime minister’s office was under investigation for misconduct relating to leaks of classified intelligence documents aimed to harm the chances of a ceasefire deal that would include exchange pf prisoners.

Four members of the Israeli military and a spokesman for Netanyahu, Eli Feldstein, have been detained as part of the investigation into the theft of top-secret army intelligence documents.

Shin Bet “is now arresting and torturing” military officers for “slanderous nonsense”, Yair further claimed, commenting on the detentions.

He also referred to his father’s trial on corruption charges, describing it as "a coup" against Netanyahu "by the prosecutors, the media and the courts.”

Yair, who has been living in the US for the past year, has long been an outspoken social media critic of his father’s political opponents...
