Donald Trump has backed away from his MAGA promise to deport 15 million + illegal immigrants living and working in the country.
In a Truth Social post he says he's talked with business leaders from farming and hospitality sectors (and probably construction as well since he is both a hotel owner and developer) and suddenly learned that arresting all their illegal cheap laborers would mean those businesses would have to pay more for employees and that would hurt their bottom lines.
So... screw MAGA says TrumpyBear... the cheap labor stays.
But, he says, some reform is coming now that there has been a nice crisis to move the needle on the American people sufficiently enough to provide cover for congress to finally pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR).
'President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post on Thursday that both farmers and "people in the Hotel and Leisure business" have said that his approach to immigration enforcement "is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace."
"In many cases the Criminals allowed into our Country by the VERY Stupid Biden Open Borders Policy are applying for those jobs," Trump added. "This is not good. We must protect our Farmers, but get the CRIMINALS OUT OF THE USA. Changes are coming!"
At a White House event later on Thursday, he said that "we're going to have an order on that pretty soon, I think." Yahoo News
Going into 2025 the folks over at the Heritage Foundation knew they wanted to see CIR finally signed into law.
Why?
Because it creates a second class citizen status for immigrants who will be 'sponsored' by Big Business and essentially forced to work for them for years with no rights and little pay. After that time THEN they can pursue a 'path to citizenship' and a Green Card and some flexibility and freedom.
But if they screw up or backtalk their Big Business owners, then the near-slaves get rounded up and deported and Big Business gets some more new cheap labor provided by the government.
And all they needed to do to set the stage for CIR to be passed was create just the right 'crisis'
- ICE raids
- Latino agent provocateurs disrupting small demonstrations that were largely peaceful
- TrumpyBear over-reacting sending in the Marines on U.S. soil
- a Hispanic Senator gets a little roughed up at a meeting...
... and PRESTO! A crisis fit for Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
Congrats MAGAites and lefties! You BOTH gave Big Business what they wanted. An abundance of near slave labor to rival that which built Abu Dabi and all the new billionaires of the UAE.
