Our Castronasti commie czar's namesake old man (not really of course, we all know who it really is) in the 1970's out here completely ransacked the western o&g industry (BC mostly mountain gas, Hellberta & most don't know Sasquatchewan huge oil AND gas, MB has a little the oil deposits extend to Brandon MB inside their west border) along with a few others from the quebec french mafia (now by far the biggest so pretty much the only real industry holding up our dollar, because our mfg base has been gutted thoroughly). His name out here is still worth the same (toxic shit) as those 5 decades ago.
That surname sure does fit the two, never ever pronounced by the working schlubs out here as spelled in everyday talk, but with that colloquial slur, like Cajun= Acadian, etc..
To add anyone here any stretch of time in the 90's before the net growing up remembers well the news stories which did subside tho, the fallout from that 70's was so intense & pronounced that the Hellberta politicians were threatening in order to prevent any future intrigue and schemings by the feds (present day it's the Castronistas) to allow TO EXPIRE the co-op agreement fed-prov which is renewed every 5 or 10 years to have the rcmp operate as the "landed" police force (Only a few other of the biggest like ontario=OPP and quebec=QPP have their own). That's not provided free---the province pays the fed for the costs of having them out here. Then Hellberta would setup and operate and fund their own APP I assume it would/will be named. THIS COULD BE SEEN NEXT SOON VERY BIG IF/WHEN IT DOES!
I THINK (don't even have time to follow details)that Hellberta gave LBT a choice---they were either going to invoke this Sovereignty Act (provincial resource rights, no exceptions) OR they were going to pull out lock/stock out of the CPP (common pension plan all but Quebec), which would absolutely implode it.
