Netanyahu paid Google $45 mln to spread Israeli propaganda

from al Mayadeen English

An investigation by Drop Site News has revealed that Google is engaged in a six-month, $45 million agreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office to promote propaganda through digital platforms. The contract identifies Google as a “key entity” in advancing the prime minister’s messaging strategy.

The contract surfaced just hours after "Israel" announced a complete blockade on food, fuel, medicine, and humanitarian supplies entering Gaza on March 2, 2025. Rather than addressing the humanitarian disaster, members of the Knesset focused on how Netanyahu’s office was preparing to contain the international backlash.

During a hearing, Avichai Edrei, spokesperson for the Israeli army, reportedly suggested launching digital campaigns to deny reports of hunger in Gaza. According to government records reviewed by Drop Site News, the prime minister’s advertising bureau soon initiated a vast messaging drive, deploying influencers and investing heavily in paid advertising on Google, YouTube, Meta, and X.

One widely promoted video on YouTube, published by the foreign ministry, declared: “There is food in Gaza. Any other claim is a lie.” The video, which has amassed over six million views, was amplified through the secretive $45 million campaign run with Google’s advertising arm, Display & Video 360...

How American tech giants are aiding Israel’s AI-powered genocide in Gaza

from PressTV

Microsoft, a multinational tech giant headquartered in Washington, fired two employees last week after they organized a vigil at the company’s headquarters for Palestinians killed in the year-long Israeli-American genocidal war on Gaza.

Abdo Muhammad and Hossam Nasr, the two dismissed Microsoft employees of Egyptian descent, were both actively involved in an employee coalition called “No Azure for Apartheid.”

This group has been vocal for months in opposing Microsoft’s sale of its cloud-computing technology to the Israeli regime, citing concerns over gross human rights violations and the company’s support of Israel’s genocidal practices and war crimes against Palestinians in Gaza.

Microsoft, a global leader in cloud services, computer software, and hardware, confirmed the termination of several employees “in accordance with its internal policies” without providing specific details regarding the dismissals.

“So I guess the cat is out of the bag. I was fired from Microsoft on Thursday, hours after a vigil we organized to honor and remember the lives of Palestinians killed by American-funded and Microsoft-empowered Israeli genocide,” Nasr wrote in a thread of posts on X, formerly Twitter.

Nasr, however, emphasized that his dismissal, as well as the unfair treatment of other Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim employees at Microsoft, is not an isolated incident...

Google fires anti-Israel employees

Google Ditches "Don't Be Evil ...

from RT

Google has fired 28 workers who protested against the company’s ties with the Israeli government amid the war in Gaza. The US tech giant claimed that defiant employees were disrupting the normal work process.

“Physically impeding other employees’ work and preventing them from accessing our facilities is a clear violation of our policies, and completely unacceptable behavior,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement to the media on Wednesday. “After refusing multiple requests to leave the premises, law enforcement was engaged to remove them to ensure office safety.”

According to tech publication the Verge, a group of employees occupied the office of Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian in Sunnyvale, California on Tuesday, while another group staged a nearly eight-hour sit-in in the common area of the company’s office in New York. Disgruntled workers also demonstrated outside several Google campuses.

The activist group behind the demonstrations – No Tech for Apartheid – described the firings as illegal and “retaliatory...”

Google workers revolt over $1.2 billion contract with Israel

from Press TV

A growing number of Google employees have joined protests calling on the company to drop the $1.2 billion contract that provides Israel with cloud and machine learning services, codenamed Project Nimbus.

Time magazine's recent coverage highlights the increasing influence of No Tech For Apartheid, a protest group that has taken a stand against Google's collaboration with Israel and now has around 40 Google staff among its members.

Last week, Eddie Hatfield, a 23-year-old Google Cloud software engineer, stood up at Mind the Tech, an annual conference promoting the Israeli tech industry, shouting, "I am a Google Cloud software engineer, and I refuse to build technology that powers genocide, apartheid, or surveillance!”

He was supported by the anti-Zionist Israeli groups Shoresh and Jewish Voices for Peace...

It's NOT Your System: Google is Sabotaging Your Computer for Using Adblockers

You know my experience with this. I had to switch computers. Turns out Google is jamming up your computers upping the load on em with each website you open where you have an adblocker engaged. Meanwhile they are selling propaganda ads to countries like Israel while laying off hundreds of employees working in sales (using AI systems now instead)  Google is just plain EVIL.

Google lays off hundreds of employees in advertising sales team

(meanwhile at DAVOS, GOOGLE exec boasts about how AI is going to be a 'force for good' and how so many people are excited about the positive changes coming in their lives because of it. Can't make this shit up folks.)

from Reuters

Google is laying off hundreds of employees in its advertising sales team, the Alphabet-owned (GOOGL.O) , opens new tab company said on Tuesday, marking the latest cuts at the search giant.

The move adds to signs that job cuts will continue this year, as companies look to adopt artificial intelligence software and automation to lighten workloads.

Last week, Google said it would lay off several employees in its Voice Assistant units, hardware teams responsible for Pixel, Nest and Fitbit, as well as in its augmented reality team....

In January 2023, Alphabet announced plans to cut 12,000 jobs, or 6% of its global workforce.

Israel pays Google to manipulate search results on ICJ genocide case

from Daily Sabah

The Israeli government, which is currently in panic mode, is paying U.S.-based search engine Google to manipulate search results by prioritizing their websites to spread their propaganda, as the country stands trial at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, following South Africa’s initiative.

An ad saying South Africa’s claim is “meaningless” appears at the top of the page when a search using the keywords “icj israel case” is made on Jan. 13 on Google from a browser without an ad-blocker.

When the same search using the same keywords is made on a different browser, another ad saying “SA's case against israel - Stand with Us” pops up at the top of the page, with a URL directing the reader to an Israeli government website.

A brief scroll shows video results from YouTube, saying “Israel accuses South Africa of distorting the truth in ICJ” and “Germany weighs in on South Africa's 'genocide' case against Israel at ICJ.”

The same search made on a browser with an ad-blocker does not show Israel’s ads but puts the videos mentioned above at the top of the search results.

Turns Out Google and YouTube are Messing Up Our Computers if We Use Adblocker

by Scott Creighton (H/T.. you know who you are)

I thought it was my system. Turns out Big Business is fucking up our computers if we dare opt out of their glorious advertisements and keep them from getting all that Mammon. FTR, GOOGLE OWNS YT and this article fails to mention their reach.

It's not just you: YouTube is slowing down your PC if you have AdBlock installed by making your CPU sweat—though despite the company's past behaviour, it's probably AdBlock's fault - PCGamer

AdBlock users have been reporting widespread performance issues with the extension enabled on YouTube, and while suspicion justifiably fell on YouTube's head, the problem may not lie in the platform itself.

In a thread posted to the YouTube subreddit over the weekend (thanks, 9to5Google) users noted that having AdBlock enabled caused slow load times and increased CPU usage, as one user writes: "This messes up the resources on the computer as a whole. It just kills chrome it seems."

I decided to test this myself, and I noticed that having YouTube open with AdBlock increased my rig's CPU usage by around 17%. While using AdBlock or similar programs is against the website's terms of service, AdBlock is also a massively popular extension. On the Chrome web store it boasts 60 million users.

From what I could see the increase was pretty consistent—so not a dangerous spike—but lower-end laptops mainly used for browsing could start having heat problems. At best it's inconvenient and annoying.

This has led to troubleshooting paranoia, as sudden and unexplained performance dips can be a sign of hardware problems. User JotaroKujoxXx says they were "wondering why my laptop ran like a fucking jet for the last few days", while another commenter replies: "Yeah I've been deleting shit randomly thinking it was my storage space problem." PCGamer

The article states that this slow down also happens when someone pays for YouTube Premium but goes to other sites with their Adblocker enabled.

The slow-down also appears to be impacting users who are subscribed to YouTube Premium while using AdBlocker for other websites, which is a problem—seeing as a subscription is a way to avoid ads without violating ToS, causing some users to feel hard done by. Our Guides Writer Sarah James tested the extension with Premium, and noted an increase of about 15-18%. PCGamer

What should this tell us that the writer of this article seems to be missing? The elephant in the room is GOOGLE.
