How the UK media devalues Palestinian lives

from Mondoweiss

The UK media's coverage of the killing of World Central Kitchen workers shows how much Palestinian life is devalued.

“It may seem wrong that, after more than 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza have perished, it took the deaths of just seven international aid workers to stir Western governments into a sense of outrage, but that is the reality.”

Thus reads the front page of the British newspaper, The Independent.

“These were not Hamas militants,” it continues. “They were not illicitly transporting Hamas commanders…The seven have become symbolic of the lawless and reckless manner in which Benjamin Netanyahu has prosecuted this war.”

The Global North has drawn its red lines, and it is the deaths of World Central Kitchen charity workers from Britain, Australia, Canada, America, and Poland. Six months on, Joe Biden finally called for an “immediate ceasefire.” Across the pond, the UK government summoned the Israeli Ambassador and demanded an investigation into the deaths on April 2. Labour leader Keir Starmer condemned the strike and asserted “international law must be upheld,” and the Scottish National Party requested an immediate recall of parliament over arms sales to Israel. The SNP’s call follows a letter signed by over 130 parliamentarians last week urging the halt of arms exports to Israel.

It is profoundly disturbing to see politicians value the lives of a handful of WCK workers over tens of thousands of Palestinians. Such currents are shared in the UK media. Although over two hundred aid workers have been murdered since October 7, and agencies such as the Palestine Red Crescent Society have been vocal that PRCS “team members have been repeatedly killed despite coordination efforts and wearing the RED Crescent emblem,” it is only with the death of British civilians that the British media has acknowledged Israel’s concerted targeting of aid workers...

Israel fires 2 officers for lethal drone strikes on Gaza aid workers

(So a super quick investigation leads to the firing (scapegoating) of two officers and the reprimand of a couple more. Col. (res.) Nochi Mendel is the only named officer who was fired. I wonder what kind of job he will land now.)

from Daily Sabah

The Israeli military announced on Friday the dismissal of two officers and the reprimand of three others for their involvement in drone strikes in Gaza that resulted in the deaths of seven aid workers.

The army stated that the officers mishandled critical information and violated rules of engagement.

The investigation's findings, conducted by a retired general, are seen as an embarrassing admission by Israel, which is facing increasing criticism from key allies, including the U.S., for not adequately protecting Gaza's civilians during its conflict with Hamas.

These findings are likely to raise doubts about the Israeli military's decision-making process, with Palestinians, aid groups and human rights organizations accusing Israeli forces of indiscriminately targeting civilians throughout the conflict, a charge Israel denies...

Oh Lookie: Establishment Propagandist Colbert Pushing Netanyahu to Stop the War

Told you it was a regime change ploy.

Was the Attack on WCK an Insider Attempt to Regime Change Israel?

Yeah I think it might have been.

Western media slammed for sanitizing Israel's bombing of Gaza

from Daily Sabah

The recent deadly Israeli strike on a World Central Kitchen (WCK) convoy has once again highlighted the way Western media covers Israel’s actions in Gaza, especially in terms of visual representation.

Award-winning veteran photojournalist Patrick Witty has criticized the U.S. mainstream media for their coverage of Monday’s attack, suggesting that they failed to convey its devastating human toll.

Witty specifically mentioned the photos taken by Anadolu Agency (AA) photographer Ali Jadallah, which showed the bodies of WCK workers killed in the attack.

He expressed shock that these photos were not prominently featured by major U.S. media outlets like The New York Times and The Washington Post.

The attack, which occurred on April 1, resulted in the deaths of seven aid workers, including three British nationals, an Australian, a Polish national, a U.S.-Canadian dual citizen and a Palestinian...

UN expert: Israel 'intentionally killed' aid workers to continue starvation of Gazans

from Press TV

The UN special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories says the Israeli military has “intentionally killed” aid workers of the World Central Kitchen (WCK) in the Gaza Strip.

Francesca Albanese made the remarks in a on social media post on Tuesday, after seven employees of the WCK food aid charity were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Dayr al-Balah earlier in the day.

The human rights expert went on to say that the Israeli military’s deliberate attack on the aid convoy of WCK, which is responsible for distributing food aid among the Palestinian people in Gaza, was meant to scare donors of humanitarian relief and ensure the continued starvation of Palestinians in the besieged territory...

Who authorised the Israeli air strikes on the aid convoy in Gaza?

INTERACTIVE Israel attacks World Central Kitchen convoy WCK Gaza aid workers hunger starvation-1712133039

Al Jazeera’s investigation into the deadly Israeli air strikes on the aid workers’ convoy shows three separate attacks on vehicles.

Omar Ashour, a professor of military and security studies at the Doha Institute of Graduate Studies, says after the first two vehicles were hit, there had to be communication among the Israeli military before the third was targeted, indicating “an intentional issue there”.

He said the great expense of the missiles used in the strikes “would need some command level” authorisation. However, he noted, the way the military operates, it may have been a less senior officer who ordered the strikes...

Israeli strike kills foreign aid workers in Gaza – NGO

from RT

Seven aid workers, including four foreigners, providing meals for the World Central Kitchen (WCK) have been killed in a “targeted attack” by Israeli forces in Gaza, the NGO, founded by Spanish-American celebrity chef Jose Andres, has said.

All of the group’s operations in the Palestinian enclave have been suspended following the Monday incident, it added.

Five fatalities were reported initially as a result of the airstrike, but WCK announced an updated death toll in a statement on Tuesday. The victims include a dual US-Canadian citizen, three Palestinians, an Australian, a Pole and a British national, the group said.

According to the NGO, its staff members were attacked in the town of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza as they were leaving a warehouse after unloading tons of food aid earlier delivered to the Palestinian enclave by sea...
