Operation American Spring – The MindWar Rolls On (archive)

(archived from May 15, 2014)

by Scott Creighton

UPDATES:

  1. Meanwhile, in France, thousands protested austerity measures today.
  2. See the end of this article to read part of OAS’ rules of engagement as Riley lays out what the “patriots” can and cannot do against the “Communist forces” that are ruining our country: “Bring Bibles and constitutions” – you just can’t make this sh@t up. I dare you to even try.

————

When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”

Operation American Spring is upon us, being led by a war-mongering “Gathering of Eagles” organizer (Colonel Harry G. Riley, U.S. Army (Ret.)) and a pure fascist ultra-Zionist (Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely) who recently visited the terrorists in Syria to lend them his support. It is their stated objective to force a regime change in Washington.

Tomorrow, a fascist former NSA Division Chief (’88-’92) Colonel Harry G. Riley, U.S. Army (Ret.),  will be leading the Neoliberal March on Washington to replace Obama and a few others with their own hand-picked gaggle of neoliberal Libertarians and far-right conservatives because… Obama is such a socialist and he’s not implementing the IMF’s austerity measures fast enough for his tastes.

“Phase 3 – Those with the principles of a West, Cruz, Dr. Ben Carson, Lee, DeMint, Paul, Gov Walker, Sessions, Gowdy, Jordan, should comprise a tribunal and assume positions of authority to convene investigations, recommend appropriate charges against politicians and government employees to the new U.S. Attorney General appointed by the new President.” OAS website

Clearly, what claims to be a “non-partisan” movement, isn’t. Ted Cruz? Rand Paul? Scott Walker? That’s the trifecta of austerity gurus in America and this group wants them, or those with their “principles”, to convene investigations?

Riley now claims 10 million “patriots” will be showing up and hopes that around a million or so stick around to surround the White House and congress until they force the resignation of Obama and others (mainly democrats)

Of course, he also claims this will be a non-violent protest, but can’t promise his followers they won’t be attacked by the ebil sooOooooocialists.

“Will this be a cake-walk? No, it will be painful, and some people may die because the government will not be non-violent; some of us will end up in a cell, and some may be injured. If that’s what it will take to save our nation, do we have any choice?… Will our national patriot leaders step forward and declare, “send me”, I’ll lead? There are millions of veterans and patriots ready to follow and have said “I will go”.” from Riley’s webpage

How about a little background on Col. Riley and Gen. Vallely so you guys can be ready for the MindWar that’s taking shape tomorrow? It’ll be enlightening, I promise.

Harry Riley was a spokesman and organizer for a group called Gathering of Eagles. You might remember them from the anti-war protests back in 2007 when the people of this country had finally had enough of the endless calls for “6 more months” of occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan.

You might also recall how the Gathering of Eagles “patriots” attacked a group of protesters at that Sept. 2007 anti-war march, specifically targeting a man who was marching against the war with a mock coffin tribute to his son who died in Iraq.

Here are photos of members of “Gathering of Eagles” who assaulted gold star father Carlos Arredondo in broad daylight in Washington, D.C., on September 15, 2007, throwing him to the ground and kicking him.” Crooks and Liars, 2007

Here are a few of Riley’s comment from back in 2007 from an interview he did with Front Page magazine in the run-up to the D.C. counter-protest he helped lead.

We have plenty of evidence of how the Vietnam era anti-war movement emboldened the North Vietnamese, and in effect gave them the encouragement to hold on even in the light of battlefield defeat. The anti-war movement and liberal media were the most important ally the Vietnamese enemy had and the same is happening with regard to the Islamic radical butchers.” Col. Harry Riley, 2007

FP: What is your angle on how the Iraq war has been handled?

Riley:  The Iraq war was won quickly; the problem was a bumbling clean-up. The follow-on was handled poorly, politics as usual got in the way of practical decision making. In my opinion, the Bush Administration had poor advisors, made faulty assumptions, fell into the trap that wars can be won on the cheap, fooled around too long cutting tentacles off the octopus rather than hitting the brain, and worried too much about “world opinion”.

We should have been much tougher with Syria and Iran, maybe even bombing their military sites, industrial, nuclear sites. Instead we are viewed as weak, indecisive, and are paying the price in blood and lives.  American leaders have not learned the valuable lesson that war must be approached with decisive force, and the enemy, wherever he is, must be pursued, confronted and destroyed.” Col. Harry Riley, 2007

According to our great Liberty-minded leader, the Iraq war was fine and dandy because we adopted the Blitzkrieg technique of the Nazi’s (we called it “Shock and Awe”). It’s where you don’t give a damn about the massive civilian casualties you inflict on the targeted nation, calling it “collateral damage” rather than what it is, indiscriminate killing or “terrorism” if you like.

The fact that the Iraq invasion was based entirely on lies (no WMDs, no connections to 9/11, no “Yellow Cake from Niger”) doesn’t seem to bother Riley.

Col. Riley also seems to think we need to be bombing Iran and Syria’s critical infrastructure without the tedious necessity of a congressional declaration of war or any kind of provocative action by either of those two nations.

Yeah, I really want that guy helping to pick a tribunal of folks ready to assume “positions of authority” in Washington.

Well, how about Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely? He’s got to be better, right?

Paul E. Vallely was the leading military analyst for Fox “news” during the run-up to the Iraq invasion. There was no lie this man wouldn’t make public just so long as it brought us closer to Shock and Awe.

He serves as the Military Committee Chairman for the Center for Security Policy , that’s a think tank founded in 1988 by ultra-neocon Frank Gaffney, Jr..

In 2003, Gaffney called on the United States military to “take out” Al Jazeera news network for inciting violence against the Western world by showcasing Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein‘s “calls-to-arms.”[16]

On March 12, 2009, Gaffney appeared on MSNBC‘s Hardball with Chris Matthews and accused former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein of being involved in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the Oklahoma City bombing, “There is also circumstantial evidence, not proven by any means, but nonetheless some pretty compelling circumstantial evidence of Saddam Hussein’s Iraq being involved with the people who perpetrated both the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center and even the Oklahoma City bombing.”

If you think Vallely is opposed to tyranny and unconstitutional oppression of the people of this country, think again. Here’s a review of his Global War of Terror supporting book (introduction by Ollie North) called Endgame: The Blueprint for Victory in the War on Terror

“Dismissing critics of the Bush Administration’s approach to the war on terror, this hawkish manifesto calls for more of the same. The authors, both retired generals and Fox News pundits, allow that terrorism involves a worldwide network of Muslim radicals aiming at a global Islamic empire and possibly plotting nuclear attacks on American cities. But they insist that the spread of terrorism will not be stanched through “the law-enforcement paradigm of counterterrorism” or the settlement of Middle East political crises, but by going after the state sponsors (including Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and North Korea) that the authors identify as being part of the “Web of Terror.” The authors nod to soft measures—encouraging democratization and public diplomacy initiatives—to foster moderation in the Muslim world, but the heart of their agenda is regime change. As the authors would have it, North Korea must dismantle its nuclear program or face U.S. invasion. Syria, unless it stops supporting terrorism and coughs up the Iraqi WMDs the authors say it’s hiding, should also be invaded. Saudi Arabia should be nudged toward a diversified economy and political reform, but if Islamic radicals take over, it too must be invaded. Iran, too big to invade, should be slapped with an embargo and naval blockade, while Pakistan should be enticed with aid packages into curbing its nuclear proliferation and cracking down on the Taliban and al-Qaeda. The authors’ ambitious schedule of ultimatums and conquests leads them to focus almost exclusively on the U.S. military, for which they recommend the Rumsfeld doctrine of light, mobile forces, supplemented by additional weapons spending. Homeland security gets scant attention beyond vague proposals for a Terrorist Security Department and Special Terrorist Courts involving substantial infringements on due process. With little analysis of costs and feasibility and not enough attention to homeland security, the authors’ blueprint may not satisfy those who don’t already support the ready use of U.S. military might” Publisher’s Weekly

That’s right. We need a new, Terrorist Security Department to round up all those domestic terrorists (leftists) here in the states, just like Vallely helped do in places like Indonesia.

He has over fifteen (15) years experience in Special Operations, Psychological and Civil-Military Operations. (that’s psyops folks)

He served in many overseas theaters to include Europe and the Pacific Rim Countries as well as two combat tours in Vietnam. He has served on US security assistance missions on civilian-military relations to Europe, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and Central America with in-country experience in Indonesia, Columbia, El Salvador, Panama, Honduras and Guatemala. He has served as a consultant to the Commanding General of the Special Operations Command as well as the DOD Anti-Drug and Counter -Terrorist Task Forces Vallely’s website

When someone like this starts writing about “special terrorist courts” you should stop and pay attention. They don’t have your best interests in mind.

What does this guy have in mind? Well…

Vallely has worked with rightist figures and serves on the boards of several hardline advocacy groups, many of which promote a Likudnik line on Middle East peace, including Family Security Matters, Rachel Ehrenfeld’s American Center for Democracy, the Jerusalem Summit, the International Intelligence Summit, and Brigitte Gabriel’s American Congress for Truth (ACT), which is “dedicated to educating millions of uninformed Americans about the threat of radical Islam to world peace and national security.” Vallely is co-chair of the Military Committee of Raymond Tanter’s Iran Policy Committee and chair of the Military Committee of Frank Gaffney’s Center for Security Policy. Rightweb 2008 Vallely bio

The Jerusalem Summit is an Israel-based advocacy outfit that has brought together Evangelical Christians, neoconservatives, and hardline pro-Israel figures from across the globe in an effort to shape the debate over the status of Palestine, radical Islam, and what its members view as the “relativism” of the West. “The ultimate goal of Jerusalem Summit,” according to a statement on the group’s website, “is to create an alliance of all individuals and organizations from different nations and faiths who realize the grave danger our democratic civilization faces from the new Totalitarianism, represented by radical Islam, and the moral relativism which erodes our resolve to fight and destroy these evil forces.” It adds, “We believe that the center of such an alliance has to be in Jerusalem. Not for nothing these forces of Evil chose Israel as the focus of their attack: here lies the front line of that new battle. If Jerusalem falls, so shall the entire free world.” Jerusalem Summit page from Rightweb 2013

Vallely’s support for radical right-wing terrorists like those mentioned above, made itself evident recently when a video of him visiting the FSA terrorist destabilization campaign in Syria surfaced.

.

He covered it on his website afterward claiming he was there to support the good terrorists. He even posted a picture of him standing in the back of a truck in Aleppo alongside a deck mounted gun with a smile on his face.

But these are the good terrorists according to Vallely. The fact that the Salafists and al Qaeda are fighting alongside them, from within their ranks, for the same desired goal, is a point that seems lost on him.

Back in 1980, Vallely co-wrote a paper called From PSYOP to MindWar: The Psychology of Victory. It is a credo dedicated to rethinking the means by which they employ psychological operations on their targeted audience, including Americans.

“shall rid ourselves of the self- conscious, almost “embarrassed” concept of “psychological operations”. In its place we shall create MindWar . The term is harsh and fear-inspiring, and so it should be: It is a term of attack and victory – not one of the rationalization and coaxing and conciliation. The enemy may be offended by it; that is quite all right as long as he is defeated by it. A definition is offered: MindWar is the deliberate, aggressive convincing of all participants in a war that we will win that war…”

“… Unlike PSYOP, MindWar has nothing to do with deception or even with “selected” – and therefore misleading – truth. Rather it states a whole truth that, if it does not now exist, will be forced into existence by the will of the United States…”

…Under existing United States law, PSYOP units may not target American citizens. 12 That prohibition is based upon the presumption that “propaganda” is necessarily a lie or at least a misleading half-truth, and that the government has no right to lie to the people. The Propaganda Ministry of Goebbels must not be a part of the American way of life. Quite right, and so it must be axiomatic of MindWar that it always speaks the truth. Its power lies in its ability to focus recipients’ attention on the truth of the future as well as that of the present. MindWar thus involves the stated promise of the truth that the United States has resolved to make real if it is not already so. MindWar is not new.” From PSYOP to MindWar: The Psychology of Victory.

Back in the day, Vallely suggested they could skirt around existing laws about lying to the American public via propaganda and psyops, if they simply believed their own messages and or believed in the truth of the future; that eventually what they say will be the truth. Thus the MindWar was created with the more than Orwellian, “promise of the truth” at it’s core.

Conclusion

What else needs to be said? If you wish to follow a bunch of ultra-Zionist, Gathering of Eagles, FSA-backing MindWarriors to Washington where they are expecting casualties in the furtherance of their neoliberal regime change operation, be my guest.

Personally, I’ll sit this one out. But something tells me, that’s what they expect as well. After all, the MindWar is all about convincing the oppressed population that they’ve already lost and nothing says “Uncle” like a vacant Liberty! march.

UPDATE: This is like a fascist thug job-fair I think. Read this from Riley’s “rules of engagement” page:

(1) No weapons. No ammunition. The Communist forces that control Washington DC do not recognize the 2nd Amendment and have banned all weapons and ammunition from the district… Bring Bibles and constitutions. Of course your 2nd Amendment Rights are God given and no man can disarm you but at this point we must follow the rules laid out by the Communists until we vote them out of office.

(2) Follow all rules of the road.No running red lights, no speeding, no harassment of the Communist forces with your vehicles….

Yes, it’s the Commies who are the problem here in America folks. Not the bankers or the hedge-funders or the massive corporations which are chewing up everything in their paths… no, it’s the Red Menace and all their darned rules and regulations.
