UPDATE: Go here to look at 19 photos from the gala event celebrating the new colonialism in Haiti. One picture is of Ben Stiller standing next to an unidentified man (why would they bother identifying him? He’s just a black guy, right?) ironically standing in front of a display featuring information about how the Haitians won their independence from the French.

“Been there, done that. This is not a strategy that is meant to provide Haiti with any measure of sustainable development … The only reason those industries come to Haiti is because the country has the lowest wages in the region,” Alex Dupuy, a Haiti-born sociologist who teaches at Wesleyan University in Connecticut
Haiti is “open for business” and “committed to taking all appropriate measures to make it easier for you to invest in Haiti.” Yes folks, Bill Clinton has done his job. He is remaking Haiti back into the old colonial model bringing investors from overseas to house them in factories and industrial parks paid for by the governments and the relief money that was meant for the people after the earthquake and he’s made damn sure those people don’t get fat and lazy on the whopping .31 cents per hour they are going to be paying them.
And it’s all for the good of the Haitians don’t ya know.
American “Liberals” doing what they do
You think Mitt Romney is the only vulture capitalist in this race? That’s why Obama will win; because the owners of the country understand what you do not.
The Caracol industrial park as officially opened for business with a big party and celebration featuring the South Korean business owners, the Clintons and a few celebrities like Ben Stiller and Sean Penn.
Take a careful look at that photo above. What you see are very happy millionaires and billionaires floating above some rather angry looking hand-picked Haitian people, the workers who will be exploited by the “liberal” Clintons and their business partners.
What you don’t see are the brutal Haitian police standing just outside of the frame of the picture, like the old Ton Ton Macoute, the most vicious of the national death-squads that the CIA has ever seen
Ton Ton Macoute
Here’s some of those all important celebrities and white investors all walking around in the new industrial park paid for by the people’s stolen relief money. Notice who’s walking along side them? All he needs are some sunglasses.
Oh I wish I were in Dixie, hooray hooray!
After forcing 300 Haitian farmers off their land so they could build it, the neo-liberal Clintons and their puppet regime in Haiti have sunk 300 million or so dollars in the creation of a brand new massive sweat shop in Haiti to rival those of Hanes and Levi Strauss which are already in Haiti making their “all American” products.
These businesses couldn’t stand the idea that the Haitian slaves were going to get a .30 cents andhour raise so they called their friends in the Obama White House and of course, the Clintons in State. The wheels were put in motion and those greedy slaves were put in their places by the progressive Barack Obama.
“This infuriated contractors for American corporations like Hanes and Levi Strauss that pay Haitians slave wages to sew their clothes. They said they would only fork over a seven-cent-an-hour increase, and they got the State Department involved. The U.S. ambassador put pressure on Haiti’s president, who duly carved out a $3 a day minimum wage for textile companies” CJR
The pro-Obama/Clinton rag The Nation actually wrote an article about this Obama repression of the black people of Haiti, believe it or not. But then they came to their senses and pulled it. This is part of what they had to say taken from an article from the CJR on the subject.
“Still the US Embassy wasn’t pleased. A deputy chief of mission, David E. Lindwall, said the $5 per day minimum “did not take economic reality into account” but was a populist measure aimed at appealing to “the unemployed and underpaid masses.”” The Nation via CJR
How dare the government of Haiti take the “populist measure” of actually voting to help the unemployed and UNDERPAID MASSES?!? Don’t they know there are BUSINESSES who could use that money to make more money for themselves? Who does the government in Haiti think they work for?
It’s a good thing the Obama administration was there to set them straight before they did some damage to a business.
As of last year Hanes had 3,200 Haitians making t-shirts for it. Paying each of them two bucks a day more would cost it about $1.6 million a year. Hanesbrands Incorporated made $211 million on $4.3 billion in sales last year, and presumably it would pass on at least some of its higher labor costs to consumers.
Or better yet, Hanesbrands CEO Richard Noll could forego some of his rich compensation package. He could $10 million package last year He could pay for the raises for those 3,200 t-shirt makers with just one-sixth of the $10 million in salary and bonus he raked in last year.
And that five dollars a day? The Nation reports that a Haitian family of three (two kids) needed $12.50 a day in 2008 to make ends meet.” CJR
So let’s see: it would have cost them 1.6 million a year to increase their minimum wage to a rate that is just under half of what is needed to live in Haiti and that company makes 211 million in profit a year. That’s less than 1% of their profits, .75% to be exact.
And that was such an outlandish notion that Hanesbrands had to call their friends in the White House to shut it down.
Now they have a brand new plantation in Haiti run by South Koreans. Oh joy. What a singular accomplishment for the liberal progressives in the White House.
Haiti hasn't gone far intentionally in the several centuries since the days of the original Arawak people, wiped out, then Spanish Main and the africa slave trade, then next kept under control by uncle schlemiel as a gateway/guardpost for the panama canal (opened 1914).

The UAE, US, EU and UK said they will open a sea corridor to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza from Cyprus because a negligible amount has been entering by land, and air drops can provide only a fraction of what can be carried aboard lorries.
The announcement came a day after US President Joe Biden said the US military would build a temporary port on Gaza's Mediterranean coast to receive humanitarian aid by sea,
