In spite of the fact that several alt-left influencers said it would not happen, Rep. Grijalya will be sworn in today which will immediately bring the Epstein files back into focus. Good timing for the Rethuglicans, diverting attention from this horrible bill and the ACA subsidies.
'Speaker Mike Johnson plans to swear in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva of Arizona as a member of Congress on Wednesday, according to his office, 50 days after her election, as the House returns from an extended recess.' NYT

Any form of real debate or pushback taking place in the House today is not expected. They will rush to get this thing signed and over to TrumpyBear so Russ Vought can sign it for him.
'The House of Representatives will finally return to session on Wednesday after a hiatus that stretched on for 54 days, as lawmakers take up legislation that would end the longest government shutdown in American history.
The bill, which passed the Senate on Monday and has President Trump’s support, has sizable momentum on Day 43 of the shutdown, and its approval by the House would clear it for Mr. Trump’s signature. NYT
This will get around 800k government workers back to work and get them paid their back-pay for the time they were forced to sit at home and worry about the rent and mortgage.

The SCOTUS gave the Heritage Foundation another couple of days to use America's poor as pawns, hostages really, in their effort to get this horrible bill passed thru congress.
'The Supreme Court extended on Tuesday a temporary ruling that allowed the Trump administration to withhold full food stamp benefits while Congress worked to advance a measure to end the government shutdown.
The new order will expire just before midnight on Thursday, giving lawmakers and President Trump two more days to approve and sign a government funding bill.' NYT
But the important take away here is (though it's apparently not important to leftie ghouls who only care about tanking Trump approval ratings) SNAP benefits will be freed up almost immediately and single mothers will be able to put food on the table for their 16 million children who depend on SNAP for their daily nutrition.

What they actually end up offering for the ACA extension is anyone's guess at this point but keep in mind that 4.2 million Americans number. It represents 19% of the ACA marketplace consumers who will likely drop out of the coverage pool 6 major insurance companies pull from.
'That doesn't mean the price tag of these ACA plans is doubling, but without the add-on subsidies, consumers will pay an average of $1,016 more in 2026. The final amount consumers will pay depends on their age, income, location and coverage level...
As many as 4.2 million Americans would drop ACA coverage due to the expiration of the pandemic-era credits, according to a June estimate by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. Yet if the pandemic-era subsidies are extended, more than 3.4 million Americans would gain coverage each year through 2034, the CBO said.' USA Today
You tell me an industry that can survive or turn a profit if nearly 20% of their customer base is suddenly gone like the wind.
I stand by my original conclusion that our government, our congress, our Heritage Foundation-led neoliberal president would NEVER do that much harm to Big Insurance in one fell swoop.
Big Insurance takes that hit, Wall Street takes a dive and that's just not the American way, if you know what I mean.
Whatever the compromise is, it wont be good for people on ACA plans that's for damn sure so now the fight needs to be to make sure the subsidies are extended another 3 years as they are.
---
Republicans are floating the narrative that they can't/won't approve of extending the ACA subsidies unless there is a modification of the Hyde amendment (2010) which prohibits federal funds being used to pay for abortions. It's a rouse, something to use as leverage while negotiating. It's obviously a non-starter, a deal-breaker for the Dems, like a nuclear option tactic. Perhaps this is just what the fake left needs to justify killing the ACA subsidies... perhaps it's just a negotiation point they can offer up in order to get what they really want, reductions in regulations that already exist on the insurance companies in the ACA marketplace. We wont know until well after they vote today on the bill and TrumpyBear signs it. We will see.
