Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory

After their idiotic virtue signalling since the 8 Dems jumped across the isle, Democrat Party leaders and influencers have now turned the tables and made it seem like they were the ones holding the American people hostage in the first place. They gave The Trumpster the magic bullet he needed to make his terrorism seem like heroism as the government is set to get back to work and 16 million kids will get the nutrition they need. Congrats idiots.

Grijalva, Shutdown, SNAP and ACA Subsidies UPDATES

by Scott Creighton

In spite of the fact that several alt-left influencers said it would not happen, Rep. Grijalya will be sworn in today which will immediately bring the Epstein files back into focus. Good timing for the Rethuglicans, diverting attention from this horrible bill and the ACA subsidies.

'Speaker Mike Johnson plans to swear in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva of Arizona as a member of Congress on Wednesday, according to his office, 50 days after her election, as the House returns from an extended recess.' NYT

---

Any form of real debate or pushback taking place in the House today is not expected. They will rush to get this thing signed and over to TrumpyBear so Russ Vought can sign it for him.

'The House of Representatives will finally return to session on Wednesday after a hiatus that stretched on for 54 days, as lawmakers take up legislation that would end the longest government shutdown in American history.

The bill, which passed the Senate on Monday and has President Trump’s support, has sizable momentum on Day 43 of the shutdown, and its approval by the House would clear it for Mr. Trump’s signature. NYT

This will get around 800k government workers back to work and get them paid their back-pay for the time they were forced to sit at home and worry about the rent and mortgage.

---

The SCOTUS gave the Heritage Foundation another couple of days to use America's poor as pawns, hostages really, in their effort to get this horrible bill passed thru congress.

'The Supreme Court extended on Tuesday a temporary ruling that allowed the Trump administration to withhold full food stamp benefits while Congress worked to advance a measure to end the government shutdown.

The new order will expire just before midnight on Thursday, giving lawmakers and President Trump two more days to approve and sign a government funding bill.' NYT

But the important take away here is (though it's apparently not important to leftie ghouls who only care about tanking Trump approval ratings) SNAP benefits will be freed up almost immediately and single mothers will be able to put food on the table for their 16 million children who depend on SNAP for their daily nutrition.

---

What they actually end up offering for the ACA extension is anyone's guess at this point but keep in mind that 4.2 million Americans number.  It represents 19% of the ACA marketplace consumers who will likely drop out of the coverage pool 6 major insurance companies pull from.

'That doesn't mean the price tag of these ACA plans is doubling, but without the add-on subsidies, consumers will pay an average of $1,016 more in 2026. The final amount consumers will pay depends on their age, income, location and coverage level...

As many as 4.2 million Americans would drop ACA coverage due to the expiration of the pandemic-era credits, according to a June estimate by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. Yet if the pandemic-era subsidies are extended, more than 3.4 million Americans would gain coverage each year through 2034, the CBO said.' USA Today

You tell me an industry that can survive or turn a profit if nearly 20% of their customer base is suddenly gone like the wind.

I stand by my original conclusion that our government, our congress, our Heritage Foundation-led neoliberal president would NEVER do that much harm to Big Insurance in one fell swoop.

Big Insurance takes that hit, Wall Street takes a dive and that's just not the American way, if you know what I mean.

Whatever the compromise is, it wont be good for people on ACA plans that's for damn sure so now the fight needs to be to make sure the subsidies are extended another 3 years as they are.

---

Republicans are floating the narrative that they can't/won't approve of extending the ACA subsidies unless there is a modification of the Hyde amendment (2010) which prohibits federal funds being used to pay for abortions. It's a rouse, something to use as leverage while negotiating. It's obviously a non-starter, a deal-breaker for the Dems, like a nuclear option tactic. Perhaps this is just what the fake left needs to justify killing the ACA subsidies... perhaps it's just a negotiation point they can offer up in order to get what they really want, reductions in regulations that already exist on the insurance companies in the ACA marketplace. We wont know until well after they vote today on the bill and TrumpyBear signs it. We will see.

Rabid Progressives are Hijacking the Shutdown Begging for Children to Starve

I wish I was kidding. They want a 'win' so f-ing bad it doesn't matter to them that people need paychecks and single moms need to feed their kids. They don't rate in the middle class Leftie Karens' eyes. All that matters is getting a win and telling everyone it's all the fault of the republicans. But who's fault will it be now if the deal falls thru?

My Take on the 'Grand Betrayal' of the Senate Dems on Shutdown Vote

by Scott Creighton

While Secular Talk and Parkrose Permaculture rant and rave about the Dem 'betrayal' and the lost opportunity to help win a mid-term a year from now, keep these numbers in mind...

'Approximately 1.4 million federal employees are currently without pay due to the government shutdown, with about half furloughed and the other half working without pay. This total includes roughly 670,000 furloughed civilian employees and another 730,000 essential employees who continue to work but without a paycheck. Additionally, roughly 1.4 million active-duty military and reserve personnel may also miss paychecks'

That's 2.8 million people who were suddenly facing potential foreclosure or eviction or repossession of their family vehicles or any number of other tragedies that befall the suddenly unemployed.

Fake leftist upper middle class hacks like Parkrose Permaculture and Secular Talk don't even factor in the suffering the Rethuglicans were inflicting on the people in order to get what they wanted. It's almost as if these leftie ghouls WANTED people to lose their homes as a result of this just so long as they could bring it up in the next election cycle.

But trust me, these influencers weren't suffering any losses as they urge congress to hold the line.

And then there is this:

' Approximately 42 million people who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are at risk of losing or having their food stamp benefits delayed due to a government shutdown. This represents roughly one in eight people in the U.S., including about 16 million children...

This includes approximately 16 million children, 8 million older adults, and 4 million people with disabilities...'

16 million kids were at risk and are still at risk of going hungry in the wealthiest nation on the planet and these progressive partisan ideologues don't give a shit about their suffering just so long as they can keep the American people mad at the opposition party.

Senate advances deal to reopen gov’t, fully restore SNAP benefits after Dems cave

from the New York Post

The Senate advanced a bipartisan deal late Sunday to end the record-breaking government shutdown, overcoming the biggest procedural hang-up that has been used to keep Uncle Sam’s lights off for the past 40 days.

In a 60-40 vote — with eight Democratic-leaning senators joining Republicans — the Senate invoked cloture to break the filibuster and move forward with a bipartisan spending patch to fund the government through Jan. 30, 2026, as well as a “minibus” package that will fully restore food stamp benefits...

... Instead, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) offered Democrats a vote on extending the enhanced Obamacare tax credits next month — something he put on the table over three weeks ago.

But Thune has said he is not guaranteeing it will pass the Senate, and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has made no such commitments to even take that measure up in the lower chamber.

In addition to a vote on extending the Obamacare subsidies, Republicans agreed to hire back all the federal workers the Trump administration had laid off during the shutdown and give federal employees back pay...

Senate Moves Toward Ending Shutdown After Democratic Defectors Relent

from the NYT

‘We’re not going to get what we want...But in the meantime, a lot of people are being hurt.”

...  The 60-to-40 vote paved the way for the spending agreement to begin making its way through Congress, where it would still need to be debated and passed by the Senate, win approval in the House and be signed by President Trump to bring the shutdown to a close.

Eight senators in the Democratic caucus voted to advance the measure, which would fund most federal agencies through January. That indicated there were enough votes to end weeks of gridlock that has shuttered the government for 40 days, leaving hundreds of thousands of federal workers furloughed, millions of Americans at risk of losing food assistance and millions more facing air travel disruptions...

... One critical Democratic convert, Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia, said on Sunday evening that he was backing the deal after securing the provision in the temporary spending bill to reverse layoffs made during the shutdown and ensure furloughed workers would receive back pay.

“This legislation will protect federal workers from baseless firings, reinstate those who have been wrongfully terminated during the shutdown, and ensure federal workers receive back pay, as required by a law I got passed in 2019,” Mr. Kaine said in a statement. “That’s a critical step.”...

Six Takeaways From the Senate Deal to End the Shutdown

from the NYT

After more than a month of stalemate, the Senate on Sunday took a crucial step toward reopening the government, when a small but critical group of Democrats broke from their party and voted with Republicans to advance legislation that would end the longest government shutdown in history

The shutdown is not over yet. Sunday’s 60-to-40 vote cleared the way for the Senate to formally debate the spending measure before a final vote. If the Senate approves it, the package still must be passed by the House — which has been on an extended recess and has not yet scheduled a return date — and signed by President Trump...

  1. Democrats’ unity crumbled as the shutdown dragged on.
  2. Health care will stay in the political spotlight.
  3. Trump’s pressure tactics worked, even as voters blamed his party.
  4. Trump stayed on the sidelines.
  5. So did Republican leaders.
  6. Democrats notched a few gains.

... Their biggest win was language that would restore the jobs of thousands of federal workers who were laid off during the shutdown and bar further reductions-in-force through Jan. 30, while guaranteeing back pay for hundreds of thousands of others who were furloughed, as required by law...

Trump Admin Threatens to Penalize States That Don’t ‘Undo’ Full SNAP Payments

(Meanwhile Kyle Kulinsky is freaking out over the possibility of Chuck Schumer cutting a deal to get the government back up and running again with the 'promise' of a vote on the subsidies to take place in Dec. He is putting out the call for everyone to call Schumer and tell him to 'hold the line' on the subsidies in the Big Beautiful Billionaire Bailout Bill while he enjoys having plenty to eat and continues to make money online all day long while parents worry about feeding their kids and 800k are furloughed or working without pay... 2 weeks from Thanksgiving. Listen to his 4 minute video. It's all about the midterm in 2026... 12 months from now. He actually thinks it's worth starving kids so the Corporate Dems can take over and do the same shit the Rethuglicans are doing. The poor are pawns to him and the limousine liberals just like they are to the neocons in the White House. Fuck em both.)

from Common Dreams

President Donald Trump’s Agriculture Department on Saturday threatened to penalize states that don’t “immediately undo” steps taken to pay out full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits for November following a Supreme Court order that temporarily allowed the administration to withhold billions of dollars of aid.

In a memo, the US Department of Agriculture warned that “failure to comply” with the administration’s directive “may result in USDA taking various actions, including cancellation of the federal share of state administrative costs and holding states liable for any overissuances that result from the noncompliance.”

Rep. Angie Craig (D-Minn.), the top Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee, said in a statement that it appears the Trump administration is “demanding that food assistance be taken away from the households that have already received it.”

“They would rather go door to door, taking away people’s food, than do the right thing and fully fund SNAP for November so that struggling veterans, seniors, and children can keep food on the table,” said Craig...

‘Nonstarter’: Senate GOP Rejects New Dem Deal to End Government Shutdown

(Schumer knows in 2026 Dems will win back control of House so a 1 year extension is as good as keeping it forever. But so do the Rethuglicans. As the longest shutdown in history drags on, 800k gov employees are either furloughed or working without pay and that is after the DOGE junkies fired 250k other gov employees. This plays right into the hands of the free market ghouls who wrote Project 2025 from the neoliberal Heritage Foundation. The manufactured crisis is allowing them to do still more damage to the system of government we have.)

from Common Dreams

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Friday offered—and Republican leadership rejected—a compromise deal to end the longest federal shutdown in US history, an agreement under which Democrats proposed to vote to reopen the government in exchange for a one-year extension of expiring Affordable Care Act health insurance subsidies.

“It’s clear we need to try something different,” Schumer (D-NY) asserted on the Senate floor, noting the 14 failed upper chamber votes on the short-term continuing resolution passed by the House of Representatives in September to fund the government through November 21.

“All Republicans have to do is say ‘yes’ to extend current law for one year,” he said. “This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with healthcare affordability, and begins a process of negotiating reforms to the ACA tax credits for the future. Now the ball is in the Republicans’ court. We need Republicans to just say yes.” ...

'Suing to starve people': Trump under fire over new Supreme Court plea

(Trump administration BEGGING SCOTUS to be allowed to starve 40 million Americans until they get their Big Beautiful Billionaire Bailout Bill signed into law. A bill that will cost 20 million Americans about 2x what they pay for useless insurance right now and then kick another 15 million Americans off Medicaid. all so TrumpyBear can give big tax breaks to billionaires... like TrumpyBear.)

from Raw Story

President Donald Trump found himself under fire from critics on Friday night after his administration begged the Supreme Court on Friday night to block a ruling forcing him to fully cover food stamp benefits for tens of millions of Americans in need.

Trump's team filed an emergency request hours after the administration said it would abide by a court ruling to fully fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. That followed a ruling from Rhode Island District Judge John McConnell.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture told states it was working to comply with McConnell’s order...

Trump is Sick: Perverted Lies on SNAP Website Demonize Working Americans as Illegals and Trans

by Scott Creighton

The Trump administration has posted a comment on the front page of the government SNAP website which reads as follows:

Senate Democrats have now voted 13 times to not fund the food stamp program, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Bottom line, the well has run dry. At this time, there will be no benefits issued November 01. We are approaching an inflection point for Senate Democrats. They can continue to hold out for healthcare for illegal aliens and gender mutilation procedures or reopen the government so mothers, babies, and the most vulnerable among us can receive critical nutrition assistance.

This is sick. It's a lie first of all. The republicans aren't even in the House, they are still on extended vacation keeping one woman from being sworn in to protect Trump from Epstein disclosures and to keep them from having to negotiate a deal to get the government off this needless shutdown which Russ Vought and the Heritage Foundation are using to literally destroy our form of government.

But then the ghouls who wrote and posted this heinous lie on a government website where desperate hungry people are going to see what is happening, they conflate the 20 some million hard working Americans who depend on the Obama Care government subsidies to have access to healthcare, which should be free in the first place, to illegal aliens and trans people... as if somehow they don't deserve healthcare in America.

This is the most awful bullshit cowardly shit I have ever seen on a government website.
