The deep snakes just went full covert, continuing doing their usual work, after brazil 'democratized' in the 1980's.
but go back farther, during WW II, and all S.A. was crawling with FBI, supposedly looking for nastis.
yet somehow they missed interdicting any of those nasti german expats who showed up there courtesy of the ratlines starting early 1945 by the score, mainly into 3 S.A. countries but not brazil that i ever read about.
