Israel kills over two dozen, including family of 13, in fresh Gaza strikes

Israel has conducted fresh aerial assaults on the Gaza Strip, killing a total of 26 Palestinians, including a family of 13. 

Reports said on Friday that 13 members of the Baraka family, mostly children, lost their lives as their home was bombed by Israeli warplanes in the town of Bani Suheila, east of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.

Gaza's civil defense agency said that its crews recovered the bodies of the martyrs “and a large number of injuries from the house of the Baraka family and the neighboring houses targeted by the Israeli occupation forces”.

Other Israeli airstrikes targeted the Nasibu family home in Tal Al-Zaatar, in northern Gaza Strip, killing 11 people, including women and children.

US airstrikes on Yemen's Ras Isa oil port kill 74 people

The US military has struck the western Yemeni oil port of Ras Isa, leaving dozens of workers and paramedics dead, and dozens more injured.

The facility in Hudaydah governorate was hit at least two times on Thursday night, with the second strike coming as civil defense and rescue teams were extinguishing fires and recovering victims. 

A spokesperson for Yemen’s Health Ministry said at least 74 people have been killed and 171 wounded in those attacks.

The attacks are among the deadliest since the US launched air raids on Yemen after US President Donald Trump took office in January. In March, two days of US attacks killed more than 50 people, Yemeni officials said.

Ras Isa hosts an oil pipeline and port that are “critical and irreplaceable infrastructure” in Yemen, according to the United Nations Development Programme...

500K Palestinians displaced by Israel since Gaza cease-fire ended: UN

Approximately 500,000 Palestinians have been displaced since Israel resumed its attacks in Gaza following the end of the cease-fire, the United Nations said Wednesday.

"Our humanitarian partners estimate that since March 18, about half a million people have been newly displaced or uprooted once more," said Stephanie Tremblay, spokesperson for U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army said Wednesday that it has designated around 30% of the Gaza Strip as an "operational security perimeter," barring Palestinian access to those areas amid expanded ground operations.

Scores of Syria Alawites killed as HTS sectarian violence continues

The forces of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham-led (HTS) administration have killed at least 42 Alawites during the past two weeks, a month after the massacre of approximately 1,700 members of the religious minority in Syria's coastal areas.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that since the end of Ramadan on March 30, 42 Syrian Alawites lost their lives due to sectarian violence, with incidents occurring from Latakia to Tartus and extending inland to Homs.

Rami Abdurrahman, the head of the SOHR, noted that while the scale of the violence has shifted to individual acts, the killings have not ceased. "The killings did not stop, but now they are individual acts," he stated, highlighting the persisting threat to the minority community.

Syria’s de-facto leader, former al-Qaeda in Iraq commander Abu Mohammad al-Julani has attempted to justify these brutal acts as "mistakes" occurring during a counterinsurgency operation against what his administration refers to as the "remnants” of the ousted Bashar al-Assad government.

Russian spy chief names conditions for Ukraine peace

Peace between Russia and Ukraine is possible only if Kiev abandons its plans to join NATO and acquire nuclear weapons, and recognizes the new borders of Russia, according to the head of the country’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergey Naryshkin.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Naryshkin reiterated that Russia has not changed its strategic goals in the Ukraine conflict. “The conditions of a peace agreement include, certainly, the non-nuclear, neutral status of Ukraine, the demilitarization and denazification of the Ukrainian state, and the repeal of all discriminatory laws adopted after the coup d’état in 2014,” he said.
