America’s war on democracy continues unabated. When the people speak, when they say they want no part of our “managed democracy” anymore, well, our glorious leaders speak out against them and simply refuse to accept the will of the people no matter where those people are. After all, they are trying in the way of glorious profits and Mammon simply wont have any part of allowing that.
The doublespeak in Washington these days is so transparent a child could understand it for what it really is.
After the thugs and the neo-Nazi goons did the work of Washington’s NGOs destabilizing the country with brutality because the vast majority of people in Ukraine didn’t want anything to do with either joining the European Union or a massive debt inducing IMF loans, the Obama White House came forward voicing support for the “wishes of the Ukrainian people”.
Leadership in Ukraine offered early elections and power-sharing, even going so far as to voluntarily remove the elected president. But that wasn’t good enough for the thugs who clawed their way into office along with a bunch of Chicago Boys-type technocrats who are already busily carving up the country to hand it over to the masters of the universe. Ukraine’s oligarchs have been installed in the east of the country and new feudal lords ruling over a population which would NEVER have elected them in a million years.
This is what Barack Obama considers standing up for the people of Ukraine.
In Crimea on Sunday it’s going to be put to the people as too whether or not they wish to remain linked to Ukraine or rejoin the former Soviet Union, Russia.
The results of this vote are easily predicted. Everyone knows the vast majority of the population in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea are Russians and that is where there loyalty lies.
So, in anticipation of the vote, of the will of the people being recorded this time, unlike in Ukraine where violence and mayhem prevented any such indication, our glorious leaders are jumping out ahead of it saying they will not recognize such a vote in any way and in fact, they condemn it.
Washington and the international community won’t recognize the outcome of Sunday’s referendum in Crimea on seceding from Ukraine, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said Friday after six hours of talks with Russia’s foreign minister…
… The U.S. and EU say the Crimean vote violates Ukraine’s constitution and international law. If Crimea votes to secede, the U.S. and European Union plan to slap sanctions as early as Monday on Russian officials and businesses accused of escalating the crisis and undermining Ukraine’s new government. The whole point of having a managed democracy is that the will of the people is subverted because it tends to get in the way of what big business calls “stability”. In this country they do that any number of ways. In the presidential elections of 2000 and 2004 they used rigged election systems from Diebold and ES&S to ensure Cheney and company were in power. In 2008 and 2012, they simply rigged the republican primary cycle in order to ensure the weakest candidate would compete with our glorious leader.
In other countries, they attempt to subvert democracy in a variety of ways. Nixon once famously ranted about people in South America voting “the wrong way” and thus our CIA helped overthrow Salvador Guillermo Allende in 1973. Did the same thing in Iran in ’53 when the people voted the wrong way and chose the leadership of Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh . In 73 in Chile we installed a brutal dictator name Pinochet who killed and disappeared thousands of leftists on behalf of U.S. companies and banks. The Shah of Iran was our boy after we got rid of Mosaddegh. His brutality is legendary.
Over in Egypt, the people elected Morsi. He in turn put a new anti-neoliberal constitution before them in a public referendum. The people read it and wanted it and it passed and was accepted as the law of the land.. by the people. Our state department, on behalf of big business and the IMF, decided to stage an illegal coup in the country and blood was shed and a new dictator was born all the applause of our glorious leader in Washington. That constitution was thrown away and our neoliberal technocrats rushed to Egypt to help them write another.
Today the state department is exposing the “CHANGE” regime once again for what it really is; an instrument of an anti-democratic plutocracy which wishes to undermine the public will at every single turn.
This is what a “managed” democracy is. Like a corporation, you might enjoy the illusion that your contributions are at least considered by upper management but in reality you have no impact on how the company is run. Decisions like that are above your pay-grade.
Same holds true for the corptocracy that is America. The will of the people is a destabilizing element that must be irradiated at all costs while all the time playing to the crowd that they are really in control. They aren’t. We aren’t.
The only thing that matters is keeping people “BELIEVING” in the illusion.
