Matt Taibbi’s “Ball Washing” of Alayne Fleischmann Who Spent Two Years Crafting Toxic Assets for Chase (archive)

(archived from November 8, 2014)

by Scott Creighton

MATT TAIBBI: Well, I can’t stand here and tell you that Jamie Dimon committed a crime.” Matt Taibbi on Democracy Now

Matt Taibbi describes the sub-prime loan demolition conducted by the terrorist banksters this way: like putting a fresh coat of paint on a junkyard car and selling it as new to unsophisticated buyers.

I describe Matt’s “breaking news story” this way: like putting a fresh coat of paint on a junkyard car and selling it as “new” to Amy Goodman.

Yes, Matt Taibbi is back at Rolling Stone after his prime-time fallout with Glenn Greenwald’s CIA/USAID linked billionaire, Pierre Omidyar. He has a new “big story” out on Rolling Stone’s website in which he pretends to break a news story that’s been out for years – big banking sold toxic assets to various institutions in order to demolish the economy and profit from it.

This moment illustrates the most basic element of the case against Chase: The bank knowingly peddled products stuffed with scratch-and-dent loans to investors without disclosing the obvious defects with the underlying loans. Rolling Stone

Wow. Gee thanks Matt. Of course, Matt doesn’t tell you they did it on purpose in order to neoliberalize the country like so many other Economic Hitmen have done across the globe to so many other nations. Nah, he forgets that little part.

Wrong Matt Taibbi. Wrong Cenk Uygur: They Aren’t Prosecuting the Banksters Because the Banksters Were Doing What They Were Told To Do (archive)

It's called Limited Hangout Controlled Opposition.

Cenk Uygur interviews Matt Taibbi about his new article in Rolling Stone magazine which looks at how few (one) of these criminal bankers and financial CEOs have been prosecuted for their blatant criminality over the past 12 years or so. In the end, Taibbi finally suggests that the reason no one got prosecuted as they should have was because of  the “revolving door” in Washington regulatory circles. Bullshit.

Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.. (and for that international flair…) bullshito

The revolving door, where people leave regulatory positions to go to work for the people and the institutions they failed to regulate, is a PERK… it is NOT the problem itself.  It certainly should be against the law, but the revolving door as the answer to what happened is a sickening oversimplification of the situation and it fails to bring the larger problem to light.

These people were doing what they were told to do.

Jason the Ditz at AntiWar Pushes DoD 'ISIS-K' Propaganda for a Living

 by Scott Creighton

Jason Ditz over at fake antiwar outlet 'AntiWar' (was better under Justin Raimondo but not perfect) is pushing State Department, NED and DoD propaganda about a bombing that just took place in Afghanistan.

He claims in an article that 'ISIS-K' bombed a facility outside of Kabul and have been carrying out various attacks in the nation because... get this... the radically pro-Islamic organization doesn't like how the radically pro-Islamic Taliban run the country.

Stop laughing. Please. I can't concentrate.

'On Monday, a suicide bombing was carried out on the southern outskirts of the Afghan capital city of Kabul. The attack killed at least six people and wounded 13 others, according to Afghan police.

The strike was in the Qala Bakhtiar neighborhood. ISIS-K, the local ISIS affiliate which US officials repeatedly claimed was totally destroyed during the Afghan War, has taken credit for the attack, and put the total number of deaths much higher at “more than 45” killed.

ISIS said that the strike was meant to “avenge Muslims held in Taliban prisons.” Though violence in Afghanistan is generally down since the end of the US-led occupation, ISIS-K remains an active force in the country, carrying out attacks of opportunity as they are able.' Jason The Ditz AntiWar

Let's see.

UFV Strike Sept 7

by Scott Creighton H/T AuntBB

In spite of the fact that the Zionist animals are now using their full leverage to bear down on the students who protested their genocide last year, students are gearing up once again, bravely and unselfishly, to take a stand for Palestine and the rest of humanity.

Because where are the rabid Zionists going to go next with their covetous campaign once they are done with wiping Palestine off the map? Syria? Jordan? Lebanon? Egypt? Detroit?

For the Zionists the sky is the limit once they convince the world that they can never be questioned in their global campaign of land acquisition.

The students in B.C. are kicking off another season of resistance and good for them. Their revolution wont be televised. They wont be lionized for taking a stand against wealthy oppressors. They will be smeared and attacked ruthlessly.

Isn't it great how our kids are threatened and attacked by greedy Zionists from across the globe as they strive to threaten and attack Palestinian children with impunity?

There are moments in history where the true nature of a people is exposed for all too see. This is true of the Zionists and their collaborators and appologists. This is true of the courageous Palestinian people.

And this is true of our brave young students who are taking a stand not just for Palestine... but for us all.

Will the protests in Israel have any impact on the war on Gaza? Inside Story

from al Jazeera Live

Israeli Army Ground Forces commander steps down amid Gaza war

from PressTV

The commander of the Israeli Army Ground Forces has resigned from his position, amid a recent wave of resignations by the regime's high-ranking officers, which has fueled speculation about the potential for a domino effect within various institutions.

The Israeli military said in a statement on Tuesday that Major General Tamir Yadai has stepped down due to "personal reasons."

Yadai has served as the head of the Ground Forces for the past three years.

The Israeli army's chief of staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi and minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant have approved Yadai’s request, the statement added.

Yadai is expected to leave the office within the coming weeks, once a replacement officer is found. It is not immediately clear who will be his successor.

Back on June 9, Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz and war cabinet observer Gadi Eisenkot stepped out of Israel’s war cabinet...

Day 333 of Genocide: Israeli airstrikes kill two dozen Gazans amid failed truce talks

from PressTV

Israel continues to commit more massacres against Palestinians in Gaza, as its genocidal war on the besieged strip enters its 333rd day.

Palestinian media reports said dozens of people were killed and injured in Israeli air and artillery strikes that hit residential buildings, tents sheltering displaced people and streets across Gaza on Tuesday.

Gaza's Civil Defense spokesperson, Mahmoud Basal, said an artillery shelling killed one person and wounded many others in the Zeitoun neighborhood, south of Gaza City.

He added that the bodies of four women from the al-Arja family were also recovered after an Israeli strike on the al-Tannour neighborhood, east of Rafah city.

A Palestinian man was also killed in an Israeli attack near al-Fardows school in Mawasi in Gaza’s southern city of Rafah...

‘Netanyahu keeps coming up with new conditions on peace talks’

from Daily Sabah

Washington pressure remains insufficient to stop the fighting in Gaza while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu keeps coming up with new conditions on already difficult peace talks, a Hamas official said.

According to a spokesperson of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, a Hamas official personally involved in the cease-fire negotiations conveyed that "due to security concerns in the region and the upcoming presidential elections, the U.S. might be sincere in its efforts to reach a cease-fire agreement. However, the Americans are not putting any pressure on Israel.”

The latest round of negotiations in Egypt for a cease-fire in the Gaza war are again at an impasse with a difficult stalemate in the talks. As Hamas and Israel are not negotiating directly with each other, the U.S., Qatar and Egypt are acting as mediators with Türkiye diplomatically supporting the process.

The Hamas official highlighted that the U.S. does not share the actual situation of the peace talks with the media. “It keeps giving optimistic messages, but the situation is not positive at all.”

Netanyahu keeps coming up with new conditions, the official said, adding that the premier refuses to leave the Philadelphia corridor, a demilitarized area on the border between Gaza and Egypt, and has put new conditions on the Rafah border crossing...

The head of the Histadrut union, which represents hundreds of thousands of workers across the economy, called for the strike on Sunday after the bodies of six hostages were recovered in a tunnel in southern Gaza.

Israel hit by massive protests after bodies of 6 Gaza captives found

from Daily Sabah

Israel was hit by massive protests late Sunday after its military found the bodies of six more Gaza captives.

The mass protests come as frustration mounted over the failure of the country's leadership to secure a cease-fire and hostage exchange deal.

Crowds estimated by Israeli media to number up to 500,000 strong demonstrated in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and other cities, demanding that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu do more to bring home the remaining 101 hostages, about a third of whom Israeli officials estimate have died.

In Jerusalem, protesters blocked streets and demonstrated outside the prime minister's residence. Aerial footage showed Tel Aviv's main highway filled with protesters holding flags with pictures of the slain hostages.

Israeli television footage showed police directing water canons at demonstrators who had blocked roads. Local media reported 29 arrests.

Labor leaders called a one-day general strike on Monday...
