with aid from the CIA, Mexican federal police (notoriously corrupt) surrounded cartel leader's secret home on feb 20 and killed him in the ensuing gunfight. this cartel leader had been with the police years before and was corrupt. he ended up being arrested and sent to the US where he served a little time but then somehow ended up being released... and sent back to Mexico where he was set up with his own nifty new cartel. now, when they need to send a message to Mexico, suddenly ALL the cartels start attacking soft targets... almost as if they are all just sleeper cells in Mexico working for the CIA/DEA and State Department when Mexico's leadership does something we don't like.
