Tech mogul Elon Musk has become the largest donor of the 2026 US midterm cycle, putting about $366 million into Republican groups and conservative causes, according to figures due in a federal filing on Thursday.
More than $276 million of that total has come since July, which makes it one of the fastest bursts of political spending in US history, The Guardian reported. The New York Times first published the numbers, which Musk’s representatives shared ahead of the filing deadline. The cycle total already exceeds the more than $290 million he spent in the 2024 election, according to OpenSecrets.
Musk’s biggest single contribution was $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, the super PAC working to keep Republican control of the Senate. No individual had given the group more in a single quarter, and the sum alone was larger than everything its Democratic counterpart raised over the same period, NYT reported...
