First off, china successfully tested several times, going back 15 years the first one IIRC, an A-Sat weapon. They did this by taking down one of their own old worn-out comm satellites.

BUT more importantly, the real reason is china has now had several all unmanned both lunar high-def low altitude photo missions & landings.
And ya know, they STILL haven't been able to find any trace of those Apollo mission loony landers, or those cool luxury golf carts with the custom woven wire wheels left behind. Nope, not even a dam bootprint to show for all that.
Must be a big solar storm came thru with high winds & cleaned up the dirt all pristine & blowed everything into one big crater---they should look there!
