Irony or Pathos? 50 War-mongers, Liars and Terrorists from Bush Admin Say Trump is “too Reckless” to be President (archive)

“Decision 2016!” has morphed from a Freakshow into Theater of the Absurd. White is black, up is down and Hillary Clinton is the “stable” candidate according to the war-mongers and zealots who brought us 9/11, Iraq and the Endless War of Terror.

The folks who made up some of the worst aspects of the previous administration in the White House, folks that brought us things like the USA Patriot Act, the anthrax attack, the abuse of the phony “Color Coded Terrorism Threat Level” alerts, Gitmo, Abu Ghraib, torture, extraordinary rendition, WMD lies galore, the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq and the Endless War (of) Terrorism…. Dov Zakheim, Philip Zelikow, Robert Zoellick, Tom Ridge, John Negroponte, Michael Hayden and Michael Chertoff (and 40 or so others)… have all signed a letter saying they don’t believe Donald Trump is fit to be president of the United States because he’s to “reckless” to occupy the Oval Office. Thus they are effectively endorsing Hillary Clinton by default as she is the only realistic alternative in our phony two party system.

Their argument is fraught with obvious contradictions which I blush to point out to my knowledgeable readership. But for the purposes of the historical record, I feel I must.

1. Most of them served under the administration who failed to protect this nation quite dramatically on Sept. 11th, 2001. Does anyone remember the PDB titled “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.” which prompted the New York Times to write that “The Bush White House was Deaf to 9/11 Warnings“? For that matter does anyone remember “Rebuilding America’s Defenses: Strategy, Forces and Resources For a New Century,” (PDF) September 2000, a report of the Project for the New American Century (some of whom signed that letter)?

“… The United States cannot simply declare a strategic pause while experimenting with new technologies and operational concepts. Nor can it choose to pursue a transformation strategy that would decouple American and allied interests. A transformation strategy that solely pursued capabilities for projecting force from the United States, for example, and sacrificed forward basing and presence, would be at odds with larger American policy goals and would trouble American allies.

Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor..” PNAC, Sept. 10th, 2000

Whether you believe it was just a hell of a coincidence or that folks in the government looked the other way or that a small cabal of interested neocons plotted and planned for their New Pearl Harbor catalyzing event doesn’t matter at this point. The fact is, that “reckless” Bush administration MOST OF THEM BELONGED TO was in charge when the greatest single act of terrorism in the history of mankind was perpetrated on the people of this nation. They had forewarning. They were observing most (if not all) of the patsies terrorists involved. They had warnings from other nation’s intelligence agencies. If you want to talk about “reckless”, it’s doesn’t get much more reckless than that. And then of course they lied about it saying “no one could have anticipated someone using commercial airliners as weapons”. If you believe that you should look up Operation Pentagon Mascal (Oct. 2000) or you can just read this New York Times article from 2002:

” The F.B.I. had been aware for several years that Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network were training pilots in the United States and elsewhere around the world, according to court records and interviews at flight schools and with federal law enforcement officials. ” New York Times May 2002

You want to talk reckless? It doesn’t get more reckless than that. They already knew “terrorists” plan to use planes as weapons, even possibly targeting the Pentagon, and as they watched al Qaeda members taking flight lessons across the country, they sat around and did nothing. And that’s the vanilla version of the story, the official story straight from the 9/11 Commission Report. That kind of recklessness should have provoked a series of firings or demotions in it’s wake but of course, as we know, none were to follow.

Abject “asleep at the wheel” protect the homeland recklessness at BEST… something else entirely at worse. But reckless without a doubt and, as a matter of fact, the official story.

2. Most of these individuals who signed this open letter, effectively endorsing Hillary Clinton by default, were supporters of the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq in 2002 and 2003 and as Donald Trump rightly asserts in his response to this pathetic “hearts and minds” campaign of a letter from these liars and war-mongers, no single foreign policy decision in recent U.S. history has been more “reckless” than that one.

For that matter and not coincidentally I am sure, the candidate they support by default with that letter, Hillary Clinton, also backed the illegal Iraq invasion and occupation. She did so on the floor of the U.S. Senate by repeating many of the lies and falsehoods created by the folks who signed that letter demonizing Donald Trump.

Comes around full circle, doesn’t it?

Aside from the one million + dead civilians in Iraq and the countless made homeless and the 5,000+ dead U.S. soldiers and the countless maimed or emotionally scarred for life (and the thousands more who took their own lives afterward) the Iraq invasion and occupation has created the most unstable sector of the Middle East I have seen my entire adult life.

al Qaeda did not exist in Iraq prior to our invasion and the thing they call “ISIS” was bred and born in the wasteland these “reckless” adventurers created over there. And again, that is the “official” version of events. The reality is certainly more damning than even that.

They now say the intelligence was “flawed” but if you understand the truth of the time, they knew it was “flawed” even before Colin Powell gave his now infamous address to the UNSC asking for permission to wage a war of aggression against a nation that had done NOTHING to us. That permission was not granted and the reckless bastards went forward with the attack anyway.

We were told we would be welcomed as heroes. We were told it wouldn’t take 6 months. We were told the oil reserves would pay for the adventurism. None of that was true and President Obama is currently sending troops back into Iraq to fight, “boots on the ground”, once again.

Nothing good has come from the reckless decision to invade and occupy Iraq. Nothing. Not single thing, except for a “business opportunities” Hillary Clinton spoke of back in 2011. But nothing worth a single U.S. soldier’s life. Not one.

“Iraq has in many ways been a leader in demonstrating to believe and to see that democracy delivers. Is your life better or not? Do your children have a better opportunity or not? And this is clearly not a job for government alone. It is clearly an important partnership that has to be forged. 3. The default candidate these war-mongers, liars and terrorists support is Hillary Clinton and I could on and on for hours about her reckless foreign policy decisions as Sec. of State but I wont go into talking about the “moderate” terrorists she armed and sent into Syria or the destabilization campaign she waged against Libya on behalf of France and Great Britain which wrecked that nation and turned it into a hotbed for terrorist training. I won’t talk about how she tried to use the accidental sinking of the Cheonan to start a war between North and South Korea while I wont say a word about the color revolution she tried to create in Russia of all places.

I wont talk about those in order to show her recklessness because I don’t need to. All I need to do is quote FBI Director Comey:

“…Secretary Clinton used several different servers and administrators of those servers during her four years at the State Department, and used numerous mobile devices to view and send e-mail on that personal domain. As new servers and equipment were employed, older servers were taken out of service, stored, and decommissioned in various ways…

…The FBI also discovered several thousand work-related e-mails that were not in the group of 30,000 that were returned by Secretary Clinton to State in 2014. We found those additional e-mails in a variety of ways…

This helped us recover work-related e-mails that were not among the 30,000 produced to State..

… Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information… (reckless?)

… With respect to potential computer intrusion by hostile actors, we did not find direct evidence that Secretary Clinton’s personal e-mail domain, in its various configurations since 2009, was successfully hacked. But, given the nature of the system and of the actors potentially involved, we assess that we would be unlikely to see such direct evidence. We do assess that hostile actors gained access to the private commercial e-mail accounts of people with whom Secretary Clinton was in regular contact from her personal account. We also assess that Secretary Clinton’s use of a personal e-mail domain was both known by a large number of people and readily apparent…

To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions.” FBI Director Comey

How many emails her lawyers deleted permanently are of no consequence nor is the fact that there were “thousands” of work related emails the FBI were still able to recover that had not been turned over or the glaring fact that her personal email servers were indeed hacked. Though highly illegal, none of that even comes close to the level of recklessness employed by Hillary Clinton when she DECIDED to run her own private email servers in order to avoid having certain communications made a matter of public record.

In order to protect HERSELF and her FUTURE POLITICAL AMBITIONS, Hillary Clinton opted to put EVERYONE working for the State Department and other foreign officials at risk. That is a fact that is undeniable.

There is not a more unstable, reckless presidential candidate that I have seen in my adult life than Hillary Clinton. Reckless should be her middle name.

What these war-mongers, liars and terrorists are concerned about is the possibility that Donald Trump might, might, be adverse to the idea of continuing the ongoing regime change operation in Russia.

What they are concerned about is the possibility that Donald Trump might, might, turn away from the New Middle East operation taking place right now in Iraq, Syria, Turkey and Iran.

They are concerned he might renegotiate the TPP and the TTIP which would open up a HUGE can of worms not just here but across the world and certainly open them up for debate in the public realm.

These things cannot be allowed.

Even though The Donald comes out and says the right neoliberal “trickle down” talking points regarding his economic platform, the possibility that he wont “surge” in the Middle East like Hillary will or wage a new cold war against Russia until they crack and install another Yeltsin is something that these servants of the masters of the universe cant risk.

That is why they are repaying Hillary Clinton for her endless support of their globalist adventurism while she was a senator from New York and Secretary of State.

Donald Trump has done nothing “reckless” in terms of foreign policy thus far whereas these bastards and the witch they support by default have done nothing, not one single thing that could be construed as stable in the real world. Not one.

Only in the theater of the absurd of the current presidential contest we see unfolding in front of us, could tainted former Bush/Cheney “crazies” like this make a claim so ludicrously hypocritical without being tarred and feathered and banished from the borders of this nation by a mob of incensed voters from both sides of the fake political divide that is U.S. “democracy”

It is tiresome to have to point these things out over and over and over again but we have to do so if for no other reason than to let researchers of future generations know there were some rational, reasonable folks left in the country during these dark days.
