ALBA-TCP Condemns US Military Buildup Near Venezuela as China and Regional Allies Back Maduro

Mexico City, Mexico, August 22, 2025 (venezuelanalysis.com) – Member nations from the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America–Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) unanimously condemned recent US military deployments in Latin America and the Caribbean, labeling them as illegal and a threat to regional stability. 

Following the escalation of “narco-state” accusations against Caracas, the US dispatched about 4,000 troops to the southern Caribbean Sea, at the edge of Venezuela’s territorial waters, in a purported anti-narcotics operation.

“Cuba firmly denounces this new demonstration of imperial force and makes a call to ALBA-TCP and from here to all the peoples of the world to condemn this irrational attack by the Trump Administration,” said Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel at the XIII Extraordinary Summit on Wednesday.

The declaration from the summit stated that the US is carrying out political persecution, military threats, and economic blockades against Venezuela and Cuba, violating international law and destabilizing the region. It reaffirmed ALBA-TCP’s anti-imperialist stance, calling for regional unity, rejection of foreign intervention, and defense of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace...

ALBA Bloc Defends Peace, Sovereignty, and Palestine at XXIV Summit

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) held Saturday the XXIV Summit of Heads of State and Government in Caracas, Venezuela, commemorating the alliance’s twentieth anniversary and reaffirming the commitment to its founding principles of peace, development, and sovereignty. 

“Ambushes and attacks have occurred and will continue to occur against our rights to freedom and independence, but there will also be brave popular advances, for all the hours, days, weeks, months, and years to come. The course of our history is set,” said Venezuelan President and summit host Nicolás Maduro.

Special mention was made of the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the Latin American and Caribbean integration bloc by the late former Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez and the late leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, who signed the founding agreement on December 14, 2004. The gathering likewise recalled Chávez and Castro’s first meeting in December 1994.
