Resistance movements condemn Israeli assassination of Yemeni officials, vow sustained struggle

from PressTV

Resistance movements have issued separate strong statements of mourning and condemnation following the Israeli regime’s assassination of nine senior Yemeni officials.

In a collective statement issued on Saturday, Palestinian resistance factions commended the atrocities for their elimination of the lifelong defenders of the Palestinian people and their cause.

They vowed that “the escalating Nazi Zionist assassination operations” would not break the Yemeni people’s will, nor diminish their support for Palestine.

Extending condolences to Yemen’s Ansarallah resistance movement’s leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, the country’s President Mahdi al-Mashat, and the martyrs’ survivors, the factions pledged continued “jihad (struggle) of victory or martyrdom.”

Houthi Leader: Israeli-enforced starvation in Gaza ‘shameful disgrace’ to Arab, Muslim leaders

(So what does Glorious Israel do in response to statements like this one? They bomb the people who make them. That's what.)

from PressTV

The leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement has strongly denounced the world's Arab and Muslim states for their failure to respond effectively to the Israeli regime’s deliberate starvation of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

“What the Palestinian people in Gaza are enduring is a horrific tragedy. Children are dying daily from hunger — this is the worst stage of starvation,” Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said during a speech on Sunday.

The Yemeni official blasted the broader Muslim world for its passivity amid the situation, saying, “Many in Gaza are suffering extreme hunger while surrounded by hundreds of millions of Arabs and two billion Muslims watching helplessly -- as if they were a paralyzed nation.”

He slammed the Arab and Muslim world for its “absence of honor and conscience,” calling its inaction a “shameful disgrace.”...

Yemeni forces target Israeli Nevatim Airbase with hypersonic ballistic missile

from PressTV

Yemeni Armed Forces have carried out a retaliatory operation against a strategic Israeli military position north of the Negev Desert, as part of their unflinching support for Palestinians plagued by the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesperson for the Yemeni military, announced in a statement that the Arab nation’s missile units targeted Nevatim Airbase, located 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) southeast of Beershea, on Saturday, using a homegrown Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile.

He added that the missile strike could successfully achieve its desired objectives, and the Israeli military’s anti-air missile systems failed to intercept the projectile.

Saree underscored that the Yemeni forces will continue to confront the US acts of aggression against their homeland, will not cease developing their military capabilities, will put up more steadfastness, and will offer greater support to the oppressed Palestinian nation...

US airstrikes escalate in Yemen as 71 raids hit in 24 hours

from al Mayadeen English

Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported Friday that US warplanes launched more than 26 airstrikes targeting multiple areas in Yemen, including the capital Sanaa and the provinces of Saada and al-Jawf.

In Sanaa, the strikes focused on the southern region of the city. Eight raids specifically hit the al-Sawad area in the Sanhan district, located south of the capital.

In Saada province, northern Yemen, US forces carried out 10 additional strikes, including two on the Sahar district.

One civilian was killed and three others injured when a farm east of Saada City was bombed.

This marks a clear escalation in US military activity. Within a 24-hour period, a total of 71 airstrikes were recorded across Sanaa and the provinces of Amran, Saada, Al-Jawf, Marib, and al-Hudaydah...

Israeli airstrikes on Yemen, Lebanon leave entire Mideast reeling

from Daily Sabah

Israel struck multiple neighboring countries over the weekend, leaving the entire Middle East reeling from deadly violence Sunday.

Tel Aviv bombed Gaza, Lebanon and Yemen in quick succession in what it claimed was a response to attacks from Iran-backed armed groups across the region.

Despite Washington's top diplomat asserting a deal is near the "goal line" to end more than nine months of genocidal war on Gaza, the Israeli military said it intercepted a missile fired from Yemen, as it pressed on with its offensive in the besieged Palestinian territory...

Red Sea attacks deliver new shock to global trade, but will it get worse?

from Daily Sabah

Car factories in Belgium and Germany have come to a standstill. A renowned British department store faces delays in launching its spring fashion lines. A Maryland-based company producing hospital supplies is grappling with uncertainty over the arrival of crucial parts from Asia.

Attacks on ships in the Red Sea are delivering another shock to global trade, coming on top of pandemic-related logjams at ports and Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Houthi rebels in Yemen, seeking to stop Israel's offensive against Gaza, are attacking cargo ships plying the waters connecting Asia with Europe and the United States, forcing traffic away from the Suez Canal and around the tip of Africa. The disruption is causing delays and driving up costs – at a time when the world has yet to vanquish a resurgence of inflation.

"What’s happened right now is short-term chaos, and chaos leads to increased costs," said Ryan Petersen, CEO of the supply chain management company Flexport. "Every ship that gets rerouted has 10,000 containers on it. It’s a lot of emails and phone calls getting made to replan each of those container journeys."...

Yemen's Houthis Attack Another US Ship in Gulf of Aden

from Sputnik News

Ships of the UK Carrier Strike Group, USS Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group, and Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group operate in formation in the Gulf of Aden, July 12. - Sputnik International, 1920, 17.01.2024

The Houthi rebels in Yemen have attacked another ship of the United States in the Gulf of Aden after the beginning of the US and the United Kingdom's airstrikes against their positions, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said Wednesday.

"Yemen's navy carried out attacks with the use of anti-ship missiles on a US ship in the Gulf of Aden in response to the aggression against the territory of Yemen," the spokesman said in a televised appearance on the Al Masirah broadcaster, adding that Yemen's navy would respond to any attacks against the republic.

According to the spokesman's post on X (formerly Twitter), the Houthis have targeted a US cargo ship identified as Genco Picardy in the Gulf of Aden, which has been hit with several "naval missiles, leaving direct hits."

The spokesman said the movement "will not hesitate to target all sources of threat in the Arab and Red Seas," adding that "a retaliation to the American and British attacks is unavoidable."

According to marine traffic data, the bulk carrier Genco Picardy was heading to the port of Thoothukudi in India from Egypt under the flag of the Marshall Islands.

On Monday, the Houthis targeted a US-owned and operated container ship in the Gulf of Aden after the beginning of the US and UK airstrikes.

State of the Unconventional and Irregular Wars Report – Exposing the Deep State Machinations of our Irregular Wars (archive)

(archived from January 19, 2015)

by Scott Creighton

Leading into tomorrow’s State of the Union Address, in which President Peace Prize will lay out his agenda for the coming year (including his feigned attempt to push a new “rich tax” with a republican controlled House and Senate… heh heh), I thought it might be good to give the people a bit of an update on all of that “CHANGE” we got in 2008.

Specifically, I thought it would be good to give a bit of a rundown of the ongoing Endless Global War OF Terror in all it’s many facets with what I call the State of Unconventional and Irregular Wars Report.

The Global Rise of the Radical Left in Opposition to Fascist Globalization (archive)

(archived from January 24, 2015)

by Scott Creighton

I see in the future a crisis approaching that fills me with anxiety. As a result of the war, corporations have become enthroned, and an era of corruption in high places will follow. The money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its rule by preying upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is concentrated in a few hands and the Republic destroyed. ~ Abraham Lincoln.

Savage capitalism of the neoliberal IMF/World Bank “free market economy” persuasion is failing across the globe. From one nation to another, people are sick and tired of Ayn Randian philosophy and Milton Friedman/ University of Chicago austerity packages otherwise known as the Washington Consensus. There is another name for it.

The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is Fascism – ownership of Government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. ~ Franklin D. Roosevelt.

It is with good reason that Ayn Rand hated FDR and with good reason Milton Friedman loved her so. They were both fascists.

Will President Xi Bring Peace to Ukraine AND Yemen? Will We Allow It?

President Xi of China is currently working on two separate peace agreements in conflicts that have been causing immense pain and suffering across the globe. In Ukraine and in Yeman, Xi is working to reach cease fire agreements between warring parties and it looks like those efforts will be successful if our 'democracy' loving leaders can't successfully undermine them and drag out the conflicts forever. And folks wonder how our government can treat us like slaves right here at home.

Yemen: Hostage Luke Somers Killed During Rescue Attempt – Along With 8 Unarmed Civilians

(archived from December 6, 2014)

by Scott Creighton

UPDATE: According to the official story told by unnamed officials, those 8 civilians are now al Qaeda:

At least nine al-Qaida militants were killed in an initial drone strike, another security official said. Both spoke on condition of anonymity” Huffington Post

Also of note, the raid took place this morning, one day before the other hostage was reported to be released. That hostage died as well.

But an aid group helping negotiate Korkie’s release said he was to be freed Sunday and his wife was told that “the wait is almost over.” Huffington Post

The timing of the raid, just one day before that release, was spurred by a report from a Yemeni security official who claims he had word that Luke would be killed today.

———-

It hardly seems like a story worth reporting on anymore. “At least” eight civilians killed during a U.S. commando raid in Yemen. The headline at the New York Times focuses exclusively on the American hostage, Luke Somers, who also died as a result.

The left is busy running around protesting the militarization of police departments and the deaths of a couple unarmed men here in the states and feeling very good about themselves while they do it… while in the meantime, the military continues to rain hell down on unarmed civilians across the world and there isn’t a peep out of the fake left anymore.
