Sumud Flotilla for Gaza departs Barcelona again after delay due to storm

(This is NOT the 'selfie boat' or at least it isn't for most of the very serious activists and humanitarians on board. But then again, there is Greta who managed to use her celebrity 'activism' clout to worm her way onto the steering committee. She just makes me sick. I wish them well and safe travels.)

from al Jazeera

The Global Sumud Flotilla carrying aid to the Israeli-blockaded Gaza Strip departed Barcelona again on Monday evening, several hours after poor weather forced it to return to the Spanish port, according to a journalist travelling on one of the boats.

Earlier on Monday, the flotilla – which had set off from Barcelona on Sunday – said in a statement on X that strong winds of more than 30 knots (55.6 kilometres per hour, or 34.5 miles per hour) on the Mediterranean Sea could have posed a problem for smaller boats in the convoy...

This flotilla is organised by four major coalitions that have participated in previous land and sea efforts to Gaza: the Global Movement to Gaza, Freedom Flotilla Coalition, Maghreb Sumud Flotilla and Sumud Nusantara...

The coalition’s steering committee includes a number of high-profile activists and figures, such as Palestinian activist Saif Abukeshek, human rights activist Yasemin Acar, historian Kleoniki Alexopoulou, activist Marouan Ben Guettaia, human rights activist Torkia Chaibi, physicist Maria Elena Delia, activist and social researcher Hayfa Mansouri, social scientist Karen Moynihan, humanitarian Muhammad Nadir al-Nuri, activist Wael Nawar, political scientist and lawyer Melanie Schweizer, Avila and ...Thunberg...

The Selfie Boat 2: Greta Spills the Beans Overboard (Part 1)

This video ends abruptly because I forgot to charge the battery. Part 2 will be out later today. But in this video I start to show you an interview in which Greta tells us all that she can't 'pretend to care about Global Warming' if she doesn't also pretend to care about the people in Gaza. I'm not kidding. Enjoy.

Largest civilian flotilla to challenge Gaza blockade set to sail

(The Chinese and the Russians should each sent warships to accompany these vessels and put an end to this horror once and for all.)

from Daily Sabah

A massive civilian flotilla involving activists from 44 countries is scheduled to set sail for Gaza at the end of August in what organizers describe as the largest effort to date to challenge Israel’s blockade, which has pushed the enclave’s population to the brink of famine.

Speaking at a news conference in Tunis hosted by the Joint Action Coordination for Palestine, members of the Global Sumud Flotilla said participants aim to break the blockade, establish a humanitarian corridor and draw attention to what they call an ongoing genocide against Palestinians.

“This summer, dozens of boats, both large and small, will set sail from ports across the world, converging on Gaza in the largest civilian flotilla of its kind in history,” organizer Haifa Mansouri said.

The initiative unites four movements: the Maghreb Sumud Flotilla, the Global Movement to Gaza, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition and Sumud Nusantara...

Israel intercepts 2nd Gaza-bound ship carrying activists, aid

from Daily Sabah

The Israeli military seized a Gaza-bound aid ship attempting to breach its blockade, detaining 21 international activists and journalists and confiscating supplies including baby formula, food and medicine, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition said Sunday.

The coalition that operates the vessel Handala said the Israeli military "violently intercepted” the ship in international waters about 40 nautical miles from Gaza, cutting the cameras and communication, just before midnight Saturday.

"All cargo was non-military, civilian and intended for direct distribution to a population facing deliberate starvation and medical collapse under Israel’s illegal blockade," the group said in a statement.

The Israeli military had no immediate comment. Israel's Foreign Ministry posted on X early Sunday that the Navy stopped the vessel and was bringing it to shore.

It was the second ship operated by the coalition that Israel has prevented in recent months from delivering aid to Gaza, where food experts have for months warned of the risk of famine. Activist Greta Thunberg was among 12 activists on board the ship Madleen when it was seized by the Israeli military in June.

The ship's interception comes as Israel faces mounting international criticism over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, with concern growing over rising hunger in the territory amid Israeli restrictions on aid...

Contact lost with Handala; FFC says flotilla intercepted or attacked

from al Mayadeen English

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition announced that contact was lost with the Handala flotilla, which was bound for Gaza to break the Israeli siege on humanitarian aid entering the enclave.

"All communications with the Handala's crew have been jammed," a statement published on the FCC's telegram channel read, adding that they lost all contact with the crew while multiple drones hovered over the vessel. The FCC noted that this could mean the Handala could have been intercepted or attacked.

"We need you to pressure for the safety of the crew," the FCC's statement added, calling on people to contact their representatives and local media to "pressure Israel to let 'Handala' go and guarantee a safe passage to Gaza."...

Greta Thunberg deported, Israel says, after Gaza aid boat intercepted

(kidnapped huh?aa They gave her a sandwich and tried to make her watch some hasbara movie about Oct7th complete with all the lies they could come up... and then sent her home I am am sure... coach)

from the BBC

Israel says it has deported Swedish campaigner Greta Thunberg, a day after the Gaza-bound aid boat she and 11 other people were on was intercepted by Israeli forces in the Mediterranean.

Thunberg departed Tel Aviv on Tuesday morning on a flight to France after she agreed to be deported, the Israeli foreign ministry said.

Upon arriving at an airport in Paris, Thunberg accused Israel of illegally kidnapping her and other activists on the boat while they were in international waters.

France said five of the six French citizens detained alongside her had refused to sign their deportation orders and would now be subject to judicial proceedings...

Greta and the Selfie Flotilla Run Aground: It Was a Stunt and Needs to be Called Out as Such

Greta Gets Some Attention

by Scott Creighton

Folks on the fakie left are praising Greta for all the attention she is bringing to the genocide so I thought I would contextualize it for you.

The Selfie Boat Runs Aground as Greta Smiling Eats a Sandwich

Parkrose Permaculture and other lefties out there are praising the great Greta for 'bringing attention to' the situation in Gaza.

The situation in Gaza doesn't need attention as it's the most highly publicized campaign of genocide in history.

What they needed was food, water, medicine, building materials, medical equipment. They needed help. But Greta Thunberg's 'Selfie Boat' stunt never intended to deliver anything to them other than attention.

Question is: attention to whom?

Here she is receiving a sandwich from the IDF after her luxury yacht was boarded. The thought of what a Gazan mother would do for that little meal to give to her kids should have made Greta weep in shame.

Instead... this is what we got along with the headlines like 'The Greta photo that exposes the hollowness of Leftie activism'.

But still the identity politics is strong with this one.

Freedom Flotilla or Thunberg Rebranding Cruise?

Let's take a look at the 2025 Freedom Flotilla: 2025 Grifters of the Year Award?  https://nomadiceveryman.blogspot.com/2025/06/lets-take-look-at-2025-freedom-flotilla.html

Let's take a look at the 2025 Freedom Flotilla: 2025 Grifters of the Year Award?

by Scott Creighton

Let's take a look at the 2025 Freedom Flotilla.

On board:

Greta Thunburg: Spoiled child used as a prop by PR guy to be the face of young people in support of the WEF's Global Warming campaign. 'How dare you?' she growled, just like her mother the actor coached her. Greta is getting older, the Global Warming thing is no longer the cause de jour it used to be so now she suddenly cares about Palestinian children.

Rima Hassan: politician, ex-pat from Syria, mother ran off to France and later at age 9 Rima joined her. 'There will be no 2-state solution' 'She condemned equally "Hamas' war crimes", "Israel's impunity", and the "genocide" of the Palestinians'  "the solution is a democratic and secular bi-national state."[37] Explaining herself later, she specified that she "dreams" of a bi-national state with peaceful coexistence of Palestinians and Israelis, and is in favor of the two-state solution...'

Yasemin Acar: she has an Instagram account.  Here she is posing on the boat.

She looks like she is having a good time. For contrast, here is a photo taken on the Marvi Marmara on the night before the deadly Israeli raid back in May of 2010.

Seems to be a more... serious mood on board don't you think? Not a lot of selfies and Instagram video shoots taking place back then.

Aid flotilla nears Gaza after reaching Egypt, organizers say

(Here is an interesting take... I think they might let em come ashore in Gaza and deliver the aid. How much can that little yacht carry anyway? As much as one aid truck? They might be swamped by starving people and that would make for good PR for the Zionists if Greta gets stampeded for some rice. And if not they can step back and say 'see? we let the flotilla in'. It becomes PR for the Zionists either way. The only drawback is when others see them land they will load up a real flotilla and set sail and Israel can't allow for that. But they can deal with that then with a few well placed drones. I think they might let em land. We will see.)

from Daily Sabah

An aid flotilla with 12 activists on board, including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg, has reached the coast of Egypt and is nearing the besieged Gaza Strip, organizers said Saturday.

The Madleen, part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, left Sicily last week with a cargo of relief supplies "to break Israel's blockade on Gaza".

"We are now sailing off the Egyptian coast," German human rights activist Yasemin Acar told AFP. "We are all good," she added.

In a statement from London on Saturday, the International Committee for Breaking the Siege of Gaza, a member organization of the flotilla coalition, said the ship had entered Egyptian waters.

The group said it remains in contact with international legal and human rights bodies to ensure the safety of those on board, warning that any interception would constitute "a blatant violation of international humanitarian law"...

Madleen Gaza flotilla live tracker: Greta Thunberg, crew move towards Gaza

from al Jazeera

  • The Madleen ship, launched by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), is en route to Gaza, carrying humanitarian aid as the Palestinian enclave faces food shortages due to more than 90 days of total Israeli blockade.
  • Climate activist Greta Thunberg is among the 12 activists on board the vessel to break Israel’s siege of the Strip since March 2. The enclave has already been under Israel’s land, sea and air blockade since 2007.
  • The Madleen departed Catania, Sicily, on June 1, just one month after Israeli drones bombed another FFC aid ship headed for Gaza. This is the latest effort to send aid into Gaza, where more than 54,000 people have been killed in Israeli bombardment.
  • The 2,000km (1,250-mile) journey is expected to take seven days, provided there are no disruptions. The ship’s location is being monitored live by Forensic Architecture and using a Garmin live tracker on board. The latest location as of June 4, at 07:23 GMT, was 70 nautical miles (130km) southwest of the Greek island of Crete.
  • Multiple reports in Israeli media say that the military will not allow the ship to reach Gaza, and that the activists risk detention and the seizure of their ship if they failt to comply with the Israeli army.

Aid ship to set sail for Gaza despite drone attack on similar mission

from PressTV

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s (FFC) next ship, Madleen, is scheduled to depart for Gaza on Sunday, as part of the group’s ongoing effort to break the Israeli regime’s “illegal blockade” of the besieged Gaza Strip.

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and Irish actor Liam Cunningham, best known for his role in Game of Thrones and his vocal support for Palestinian rights, are among the prominent figures joining the mission.

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese took to her X page to express concern for the participants, writing, “Stay safe, my friends. I am painfully aware of the risks you are taking on behalf of all of us—of Humanity.”

She further called on global leaders to ensure the flotilla’s safety. “Diplomats and politicians around the world: The Flotilla Giants are taking the heavy lift. PLEASE make sure they are protected, will you? This is the least you can do,” she added...

Gaza 'freedom flotilla' blocked, activists vow to press ahead

from Daily Sabah

Plans of the International Freedom Flotilla Coalition hit a snag when Guinea-Bissau decided to withdraw its flag from ships that would deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The flotilla was expected to set sail on Friday before the unexpected decision of the West African country.

At a protest in Sultanahmet Square of Istanbul, a group chanting slogans against Israel displayed banners that read: "Stop the Fire on Civilians" and "Free Palestine." Protesters also referenced a ban on the Palestinian flag in 1967, symbolically marching with watermelon slices, an icon at that time.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Marry Ann Wright said the flag of Guinea-Bissau, the flag country of two of the Freedom Flotilla's four ships, had been withdrawn from the ships. Highlighting that one of the flagged ships was loaded with more than 5,000 tons of aid, Wright alleged that Guinea-Bissau's decision assisted Israel in its illegal blockade and genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. Despite the potential repercussions, Wright emphasized their determination to reach the people of Gaza, asserting that Israel's refusal to provide the aid necessary for Palestinians to survive demonstrated how far it would go.

U.N. experts on Friday demanded safe passage for the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, whose ships departing Türkiye will be carrying 5,500 tons of humanitarian aid and hundreds of international humanitarian observers to Gaza...
