'Beyond Orwellian': Netizens slam US-drafted UNSC resolution on so-called 'Gaza peace plan'

(Trump's plan was to bust off 60% of Gaza, give it to the Jews in Israel for redevelopment, let their settlers move on in like Daniella Weiss, and refuse to provide a single dollar to rebuild what is left of Gaza for the Palestinians until they promise to quit resisting the Glorious Israelis and the occupation of the Jewish Supremists. Oh yeah, and lots and lots of golden calf statues of TrumpyBear on every city block. This is absurd and the head of the General Assembly supports this shit. Fucking sellouts everywhere INCLUDING RUSSIA AND CHINA FOR NOT VETOING THIS RACIST SHIT)

from PressTV

Social media users erupt in outrage after the UN Security Council passes a US-drafted resolution calling for an “international force” in Gaza to pursue “demilitarization” and dismantle resistance infrastructure despite ongoing Israeli occupation and atrocities.

The UNSC on Monday adopted the resolution to establish the so-called International Stabilization Force (ISF) in the coastal sliver.

The force, reportedly to be formed by the United States, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt, would operate under the pretext of reconstruction and security. Critics have, however, say that a proposal forwarded by US President Donald Trump that includes the force’s deployment ignores the core issues of Israeli occupation, accountability for war crimes, and Palestinians’ right to self-determination and compensation.

“The UNSC resolution is kind of beyond Orwellian. It's comical. It's like a parody of Orwellian,” Sam Husseini, an American writer and political activist, campaigning to expose the Israeli regime’s genocide in Gaza among other things, wrote on X. By Orwellian, he was referring to the dark and oppressive world portrayed by George Orwell, especially in his novel 1984.

In Major Breakthrough, U.N. Security Council Adopts U.S. Peace Plan for Gaza

(Unbelievable. Russia and China abstained from the vote so Trump's Great Trust 20-point neoliberalization plan of Gaza would be approved by the UNSC. Either could have said no and it would have been toast but they didn't so now TrumpyBear is going to head his Board of Peace along with Tony Blair and other neoliberal thugs as they run terrorists inside Gaza to kill off resistance fighters in the 40% of Gaza that remains for the Palestinians and they work 'deals' with various businesses to build out the remaining 60% on the Israel side of the 'Yellow Line' to build resorts and various free trade zones for the likes of Elon Musk and UAE. Unfuckingbelievable.)

from the NYT

The United Nations Security Council on Monday approved President Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, a breakthrough that provides a legal U.N. mandate for the administration’s vision of how to move past the cease-fire and rebuild the war-ravaged Gaza Strip after two years of war.

The Council’s vote was also a major diplomatic victory for the Trump administration. For the past two years, as the conflict between Israel and Hamas has raged, the United States had been isolated at the United Nations over its staunch support for Israel.

The U.S. resolution calls for an International Stabilization Force to enter, demilitarize and govern Gaza. The proposal, which contained Mr. Trump’s 20-point cease-fire plan, also envisions a “Board of Peace” to oversee the peace plan, though it does not clarify the composition of the board.

The resolution passed with 13 votes in favor and zero votes against. Russia and China, either of which could have vetoed it, abstained, apparently swayed by the support for the resolution from a number of Arab and Muslim nations: Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as Indonesia, Turkey and Pakistan, which is a member of the Council.

UN Security Council to vote on Trump peace plan for Gaza

(Russia has a counter offer

from the BBC

The UN Security Council is expected to vote on a draft resolution backing Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza.

The text, submitted by the US, would give a mandate for the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) and to set up transitional governance there.

The US says multiple unnamed countries have offered to contribute to the ISF, though it is unclear whether it would be required to ensure Hamas disarms or function as a peacekeeping force.

Its formation is a central plank of Trump's 20-point plan which last month brought a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in their two-year war.

The draft also raises the possibility of a Palestinian state - something Israel strongly opposes...

UN Security Council set for Monday vote on Trump’s Gaza plan

(Monday is setting up to be a big showdown for the future of Gaza and Palestine. Fuck Turkey for supporting Trump's Great Trust/Gaza 2035 bullshit)

from Daily Sabah

The U.N. Security Council will vote Monday on a resolution backing U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, diplomats said, while Russia submitted a rival draft resolution, setting up a confrontation among the council’s veto powers.

Last week the Americans officially launched negotiations within the 15-member Security Council on a text that would follow up on a cease-fire in Israel’s two-year war on the Gaza Strip and endorse Trump's plan.

A draft of the resolution seen Thursday by AFP "welcomes the establishment of the Board of Peace," a transitional governing body for Gaza, that Trump would theoretically chair, with a mandate running until the end of 2027.

It would authorize member states to form a "temporary International Stabilization Force (ISF)" that would work with Israel and Egypt and newly trained Palestinian police to help secure border areas and demilitarize the Gaza Strip.

Unlike previous drafts, the latest mentions a possible future Palestinian state.

The United States and several Arab and Muslim-majority nations including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye called Friday for the U.N. Security Council to quickly adopt the resolution.

"The United States, Qatar, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan, and Türkiye express our joint support for the Security Council Resolution currently under consideration," the countries said in a joint statement, adding they were seeking the measure's "swift adoption."

Friday's joint statement comes as Russia circulated a competing draft resolution to Council members that does not authorize the creation of a board of peace or the immediate deployment of an international force in Gaza, according to the text seen Friday by AFP.

The Russian version welcomes "the initiative that led to the cease-fire" but does not name Trump.

It also only calls on the U.N. secretary-general to submit a report that addresses the possibilities of deploying an international stabilization force in war-ravaged Gaza...

Global outcry as US veto blocks UNSC Gaza cease-fire resolution

(The day before she cast this vote to keep from legitimizing the Hamas 'narrative'...

'Israel's far-right finance minister Bezalel Smotrich has said the Gaza Strip could be a "real estate bonanza" and that he is in talks with the US about dividing up the territory after the war - an idea previously condemned internationally.

Speaking at an event in Tel Aviv, he said "a business plan is on President Trump's table".

"We've done the demolition phase... Now we need to build," he said.' BBC

That's right, a covetous Israeli minister, Smotrich, was bragging about their land-grabbing plans. He said they were planning to divide up Gaza with Donald Trump and his corrupt developer buddy Steve Witkoff, the same guy who made a bunch of money with Donnie Sticky Hands in that UAE deal a couple months ago.

So the next day his envoy to the U.N. blocks a peace deal... so The Donald can make that money in Gaza.

Holy fucking shit.)

from Daily Sabah

The United States on Thursday once again blocked a U.N. Security Council resolution demanding an immediate, unconditional cease-fire in Gaza and the release of hostages, sparking widespread international criticism and highlighting Washington’s isolation on the world stage.

All 14 other members of the Council voted in favor, denouncing the "catastrophic" humanitarian situation in Gaza and calling on Israel to lift restrictions on aid to the territory’s 2.1 million civilians.

Diplomats, aid groups, and human rights advocates framed the veto as a dramatic failure of international diplomacy at a moment of escalating violence.

Morgan Ortagus, senior U.S. policy adviser, defended the decision, saying the resolution “fails to condemn Hamas or recognize Israel’s right to defend itself” and risks legitimizing Hamas’ narrative.

But her words did little to quiet the chorus of outrage from other Council members...

Twelve-nation bloc defies US, enforces law to halt Israeli genocide in Gaza (Hague Group Emergency Summit)

from PressTV

... Backing the Zionist entity politically, financially, and militarily, the US has blocked any reasonable path forward for a ceasefire...

... The result of the (Hague Group Emergency Summit) was unprecedented in regard to political action against the child-murdering illegitimate entity.

Twelve countries—Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Indonesia, Iraq, Libya, Malaysia, Namibia, Nicaragua, Oman, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and South Africa—have committed to implementing the six measures immediately.

The six measures, per the Hague Group joint statement, are as follows:

Prevent the provision or transfer of arms, munitions, military fuel, related military equipment, and dual-use items to Israel.

Prevent the transit, docking, and servicing of vessels at any port… in all cases where there is a clear risk of the vessel being used to carry arms, munitions, military fuel, related military equipment, and dual-use items to Israel.

Prevent the carriage of arms, munitions, military fuel, related military equipment, and dual-use items to Israel on vessels bearing our flag… and ensure full accountability, including de-flagging, for non-compliance with this prohibition.

Commence an urgent review of all public contracts to prevent public institutions and funds from supporting Israel's illegal occupation of the Palestinian Territory and entrenching its unlawful presence.

Comply with obligations to ensure accountability for the most serious crimes under international law, through robust, impartial, and independent investigations and prosecutions at national or international levels, to ensure justice for all victims and the prevention of future crimes.

Support universal jurisdiction mandates, as and where applicable in national legal frameworks and judiciaries, to ensure justice for victims of international crimes committed in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The importance of these measures, committed to by a global coalition of countries across different continents, represents a firm defense of upholding international law in the face of the American insistence on imposing a "rules-based order."

Of course, these measures are material, meant to punish and isolate the Zionist occupation economically, politically, and militarily...

Moscow blasts US redo of ‘Iraqi weapons of mass destruction’ stunt

from RT

Russia has condemned the United States for its airstrikes and missile attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, calling them “irresponsible, provocative and dangerous,” and warning that they risk pushing the Middle East toward a large-scale war with potentially catastrophic nuclear consequences.

Speaking at an emergency session of the UN Security Council on Sunday, Russian Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia accused Washington of violating the UN Charter, international law and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

“The United States has opened a Pandora’s box, and no one knows what consequences may follow,” Nebenzia said, noting that by targeting IAEA-supervised nuclear sites, Washington has “once again demonstrated total disregard for the position of the international community.”...

Key players tangle at UNSC at ‘perilous turn’ of US-Israel-Iran conflict

from al Jazeera

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has convened an emergency session after the US-led strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, prompting sharp rebukes from several member states and renewed calls for a ceasefire in the Middle East, while allies Israel and the US lauded the attack.

Russia, China and Pakistan have proposed a resolution demanding an “immediate and unconditional ceasefire”, according to diplomats familiar with the draft circulated on Sunday. While the proposal does not explicitly name the United States or Israel, it condemns the attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. A vote has not yet been scheduled.

To pass, the resolution requires the backing of at least nine members and no vetoes from the five permanent members – China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the US. This makes it a non-starter since the US will not censure itself.

Speaking to the UNSC, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the region was standing “on the brink of a deadly downward spiral”.

“The bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities by the United States marks a perilous turn in a region that is already reeling,” Guterres said. “We now risk descending into a rathole of retaliation after retaliation. We must act – immediately and decisively – to halt the fighting and return to serious, sustained negotiations on the Iran nuclear programme.”

Acting US Ambassador Dorothy Shea defended the military action, saying that Washington had moved to dismantle Iran’s enrichment capacity to protect both US citizens and allies...

U.S. Vetoes U.N. Resolution Demanding Immediate Gaza Cease-Fire

from the New York Times

The United States on Wednesday vetoed a U.N. Security Council resolution demanding an immediate and unconditional cease-fire in Gaza, the release of all hostages and the resumption of full-scale humanitarian aid deliveries to the enclave.

Ten nonpermanent members of the 15-seat Council had put forth the resolution for a vote. It was the first time since President Trump took office that the Council had considered a cease-fire resolution on the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

The United States was the only member to vote against the measure; the other 14 members of the Council, including Russia, voted in favor, once again highlighting Washington’s isolation on the global stage over its policy of unconditional support of Israel.

“We believe this text reflects the consensus shared by all Council members that the war in Gaza has to come to an immediate halt, all hostages must be immediately and unconditionally released, and civilians in Gaza must not starve and must have full and unimpeded access to aid,” said a joint statement from the 10 nonpermanent members, which was read by Slovenia’s ambassador to the U.N., Samuel Zbogar, at the Council meeting ahead of the vote.

A Security Council resolution must receive nine votes in favor and no vetoes from the five permanent members — Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States — to be adopted. Since the war broke out after the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack on Israel, the United States has vetoed four Council resolutions calling for a cease-fire and has abstained from one, allowing it to pass, last June...

Security Council Debates Israeli Attacks on Hospitals Allegedly Misused by Hamas, as UN Rights Chief Urges Independent Probes

from UNSC Jan 3 2025

Following Israel’s 27 December attack on the last functioning hospital in north Gaza, the Security Council today heard calls for urgent international action to protect civilians and ensure accountability, including independent investigations into these incidents and the alleged misuse of medical facilities by Hamas.

“A human-rights catastrophe continues to unfold in Gaza before the eyes of the world,” said Volker Türk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.  Citing a recent report by his Office, he pointed to a pattern of attacks on hospitals between 7 October 2023 and 30 June 2024 that begin with Israeli airstrikes and are followed by ground raids and the detention of patients and staff — “leaving the hospital essentially non-functional”. Meanwhile, Hamas and other armed groups continue to reportedly operate behind civilian infrastructure, including health facilities, exposing them to attacks.

Israel’s recent attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital — the last functioning hospital in north Gaza — “reflects the patterns of attacks documented in the report”, he said, stating that Israeli military operations in and around hospitals across Gaza “have had a terrible impact, precisely at a time of massive demands on healthcare due to the ongoing conflict”.  Underscoring that military operations must always distinguish between military targets and civilians, he observed:  “The use of heavy weapons against hospitals is difficult to reconcile with that principle.”

While noting that Israel has alleged that hospitals were being improperly used for military purposes, he stated that Israel “has not provided sufficient information to substantiate many of these claims”. Against that backdrop, he called for independent, thorough and transparent investigations into all Israeli attacks on hospitals, healthcare infrastructure and medical personnel, as well as the alleged misuse of such facilities.

‘Kids aren’t terrorists’: UN officials discredit Israeli killing machine

(This in spite of what Rudy G. said during the MSG speech to a bunch of Trump fans 'they are taught at two years old to kill us!!!!! 9/11!!!! 9/11, 9/11, 9/11!!!! '

from PressTV

The United Nations officials sitting on the world body’s fact-finding mission that probes the regime’s war crimes strongly refute the allegations that it has been using to try to justify its ongoing genocide against Palestinians.

Miloon Kothari and Chris Sidoti of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory made the remarks during a UN briefing on Wednesday.

“Kids aren't terrorists,” Sidoti asserted, referring to the regime’s routine way of branding everyone in the enclave in those terms to attempt to rationalize its indiscriminate deadly attacks against the coastal sliver.

The officials noted that using the claim, the regime had killed at least 13,319 Palestinian children since October last year, when it began bringing Gaza under a genocidal war.

The fatalities are among the 43,000-plus Palestinians, who have been killed as a result of the brutal military onslaught...

UNSC sounds alarm amid deteriorating situation in Gaza, West Bank

from Daily Sabah

The UN Security Council (UNSC) on Thursday highlighted the urgent crisis in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, cautioning about the potential for a regional war amid escalating tensions in Lebanon.

U.S. Deputy Envoy Robert Wood underscored that Washington is actively monitoring the situation regarding the explosions in Lebanon, adding that "a broader regional conflict serves no one's interests."

He emphasized that a cease-fire is the best option to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and ensure regional stability, urging all parties to exercise restraint.

Wood condemned attacks by extremist settlers on Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank and criticized Israel's illegal settlement policies as inconsistent with international law and detrimental to Israel's security.

"We must not grow numb to the human suffering in the region," he said...

Iran urges UN Security Council action to halt Gaza genocide

from PressTV

Iran’s acting foreign minister has called for immediate decisive action by the United Nations Security Council to bring Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza to a halt.

Ali Baqeri Kani made the remarks as he was addressing the Security Council in New York on Wednesday.

The Iranian minister highlighted the crimes of Israel in Gaza over the past nine months, which have resulted in the massacre of innocent people, mostly women and children.

“Over the past 285 days, the Israeli-occupying regime has been committing extensive international crimes in Gaza. This regime, through a campaign of brutality and terror, continues to massacre innocent people, mostly women and children.”

The Iranian foreign minister said approximately 20 people are killed or injured every hour in Gaza, with over 80% of residential areas and all infrastructure, including hospitals, mosques, churches, educational centers, and historical sites, destroyed.

Baqeri Kani said the Israeli regime has also weaponized starvation by blocking aid routes and attacking refugee camps and displaced people...
