Fearing war, Georgia chooses a return to Russia’s embrace

from the Washington Post (H/T T)

After a contentious parliamentary election, Georgia — a small nation once part of the Soviet Union — finds itself sliding back into Russia’s orbit following decades of seeking greater integration with the West.

The ruling Georgian Dream party, adopting a pro-Russian stance, declared victory in October’s elections after winning 54 percent of the vote and running a campaign with a stark warning: Align with the West and suffer Ukraine’s fate.

The opposition has rejected the election as stolen, but it does appear that the ruling party successfully capitalized on a fragmented opposition and Georgians’ fear of war, aided by Russian disinformation and a patchy record from the West when it comes to supporting nations seeking to leave Russia’s sphere of influence...

Washington issues new threat to Georgia

(We didn't like the results of the election because they upheld the credibility of the party that kicked our NGOs to the curb, you know, the ones who were making Disease X for the next round of Rona lockdowns. So we are now openly warning them we will regime change the country if they don't do the bidding of our 'interests' like everyone in America does.)

from RT

The US has threatened Georgia with “consequences,” after the country's pro-NATO political opposition accused the ruling Georgian Dream party of rigging Saturday’s parliamentary election.

According to the official tally, the Georgian Dream party received almost 54% of the vote, while various opposition parties received 3% to 11%. The victory is expected to give the Georgian Dream at least 90 seats in the 150-member national parliament, allowing it form the Caucasian country's next government.

Four pro-Western opposition parties have refused to recognize the results and said they would not be taking part in the work of the new legislature. Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, a former French ambassador to Georgia who acquired citizenship in 2004, refused to recognize the results either and called for protests. A large demonstration was held outside the parliament building in Tbilisi on Monday evening.

Despite Zourabichvili calling the election a “total fraud,” the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) reported that it observed no systemic voting irregularities. It did, however, claim to have observed incidents of vote-buying and pressure on public sector employees, but praised the diversity of choices on the ballot.

At a press conference on Monday, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the election was held in an “environment shaped by the ruling party’s policies including misuse of public resources, vote buying and voter intimidation.”

“We encourage Georgia’s governing officials to consider the relationship they want with the Euro-Atlantic community rather than strengthening policies that are praised by authoritarians,” Miller added.

“We do not rule out further consequences if the Georgian government’s direction does not change,” he said, urging Tbilisi to start “withdrawing and repealing anti-democratic legislation.”...

US behind two failed ‘color revolutions’ – Georgian PM

from RT

Tbilisi needs to “reconsider” its relationship with Washington, given that American-funded NGOs were behind at least two attempts at overthrowing the government, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said.

The US has threatened sanctions against senior Georgian officials after the former Soviet republic passed a ‘foreign agents’ law which was denounced by the West as a threat to democracy.

“I don’t know why there were two attempts at revolution in 2020-2021, and then in 2022. I don’t know why there were these attempts, but the fact is that the previous [US] ambassador spoiled a lot of things, a lot of things were ruined in those years, and this needs to be corrected,” Kobakhidze told reporters on Friday.

“This includes American-funded NGOs that stood on the revolutionary stage, calling for the resignation of the government, and the formation of a government with their participation. Therefore, Georgian-American relations need to be reconsidered,” the prime minister added...

Georgian PM accuses EU of ‘blackmailing’ him with assassination threat

from RT

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has claimed that a European commissioner told him he could end up suffering the same fate as Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who survived an assassination attempt last week.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Kobakhidze said that the unnamed commissioner warned him during a recent phone call that the West would take “a number of measures” against him if his government pressed ahead with a law requiring foreign NGOs in Georgia to disclose their funding.

“While listing these measures, he mentioned: ‘you see what happened to Fico, and you should be very careful’,” he wrote.

Fico was shot multiple times as he met with supporters outside a government meeting in the town of Handlova on May 15. He was rushed to hospital, underwent emergency surgery, and is currently recuperating from his injuries. His would-be assassin – a 71-year-old poet who allegedly disagreed with Fico’s suspension of military aid to Ukraine – has been charged with attempted murder.

Georgia’s parliament passed the ‘Transparency of Foreign Influence Act’ last week. The law requires NGOs, media outlets, and individuals receiving more than 20% of their funding from abroad to register as entities “promoting the interests of a foreign power” and disclose their donors...

The West has invented a magic phrase to hide its geopolitical games

from RT

The elites and mainstream media of the West are so addicted to double standards that spotting yet another one is hardly news. These are the people who have just given us genocide re-labeled as self-defense,” who abhor spheres of influence except when they are global and belong to Washington (with a sidekick role for Brussels), and who insist on the rule of law while threatening the International Criminal Court if it so much as dares look their way.

Yet there is something special about the latest case of Western ‘values’ schizophrenia, this time about the concept of ‘civil society’ in conjunction with two political struggles, one in the US and the other in the Caucasus nation of Georgia.

In the US, students, professors, and others are protesting against the ongoing Israeli genocide of the Palestinians and against American participation in that crime. In Georgia, the issue at stake is a proposed law to impose transparency on the sprawling and unusually powerful NGO sector. Its critics denounce this law as a government power grab and as somehow ‘Russian’ (which, spoiler alert, it is not).

The very different reactions to these two cases of intense public contention by the West’s political and mainstream media elites show that, for them, there are really two kinds of civil society: There is the ‘vibrant’ variety, with ‘vibrant’ an almost comically ossified cliche, used by the Washington Post Editorial Board, in EU statements, and by White House spokesman John Kirby, to name only a few. It is almost as if someone had sent around a memo on proper terminology. This vibrant, good kind of civil society is to be celebrated and supported...

Georgia’s parliament approves law on ‘foreign agents’ in first reading

(Looks like real democracy won out. They passed the foreign agent law first reading in Georgia. Our proxy asset employees are pissed off. I wonder if they finished making Disease X before they shut down the Lugar Center. Let's hope not.)

from NBC

Georgia’s parliament on Wednesday approved the first reading of a bill on “foreign agents” that has provoked several days of protests by critics who see it as authoritarian and Russian-inspired, Georgian media reported.

Eighty-three out of 150 deputies voted in favour of the bill, while opposition MPs boycotted the vote. It must pass two more readings before becoming law.

The bill would require organisations receiving more than 20% of their funding from abroad to register as agents of foreign influence, and has been compared by critics to a law that Russia has used extensively to crack down on dissent...

Our Assets in Tbilisi Resort to Violence for Freedom and Democracy and Such

 by Scott Creighton

Another night of Western-backed 'protests' (destabilization) and violence inside Georgia's parliament building over the so-called 'Russian Law' which forces assets of foreign NGOs to register as assets of foreign NGOs.

The United States and EU have instigated these activities as they don't wish to lose their investments and assets in the nation.

Even Human Rights Watch (HRW) and Amnesty International have come out against the bill. Both have been compromised for years if not from the beginning.

Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have denounced the “foreign agents” law, saying if adopted, it would also “impose additional onerous reporting requirements, inspections, and administrative and criminal liability, including up to five years in prison for violations.”

The legislation is “incompatible with international human rights law and standards that protect the rights to freedom of expression and association,” Human Rights Watch warned. CNN

It's been known for a long time that organizations like the CIA, State Department and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) use these types of humanitarian NGOs to gain entrance into countries where they would not be allowed access. Closer inspections and reporting requirements threaten to shut down their 'democracy building' projects.

Covid Makers Riot in Tbilisi

Yeah it's true. Our NGOs are under threat of exposure in Georgia right as they are still working on Predict Project and Deep VZN's next big thing. Maybe, just maybe, the real origin story of Sars-CoV-2 should be reviewed once again this time leaving out the WEF's propaganda. You think?

Our NGO Assets are Rioting in Tbilisi to Keep from Being Labeled 'Foreign Agents'

 by Scott Creighton

In Tbilisi, Georgia supporters of foreign-financed NGOs are trying to disrupt a new law that forces those institutions to register as agents of a foreign power. Because... that's what they are.

The United States and the EU have tried to use their influence to keep the new law from being enacted and even had some success forcing (and/or bribing) lawmakers into changing the wording of the legislation, if not the intent.

You see, we made Sars-CoV-2 (Covid-19) in that city at a place called the Lugar Center. And by 'we' I mean the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Department of Defense (DoD), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), EcoHealth Alliance, Ralph Baric, Peter Daszak and Anthony Fauci.

We're still doing it, BTW.
