Recently leaked internal data has exposed Meta’s compliance rate of 94 percent with Israeli takedown requests since October 7, 2023, revealing the tech giant’s systematic silencing of content critical of Israel’s genocidal actions in Gaza.
The data was provided to the Drop Site website by whistleblowers, exposing the operational details of Meta’s “Integrity Organization”—a department claiming to ensure safety and authenticity across its platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.
The leaked data reveals that the Israeli regime, known as “the biggest originator of takedown requests globally,” is unique in its success in censoring speech, with a mere 1.3 percent of its takedown requests affecting Israeli users.
The leaked information confirms the American multinational technology conglomerate’s compliance with Israeli requests to conduct what has been termed the “largest mass censorship operation in modern history,” predominantly targeting users from Arab and Muslim-majority nations.
In total, users from over 60 countries have reported censorship of Palestine-related content, with the top 12 affected countries being Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Algeria, Yemen, Tunisia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey, respectively...
