Trump pushing India into high-stakes, high-risk China clash

(In Nov of 2024, Lashkar-e-Taiba (The Resistance Front) used grenades to attack target in India: 12 people were injured. On April 22 2025, the same group killed killed 28 people in yet another destabilization attack called 2025 Pahalgam attack.

On Monday, the 21st day of April 2025, JD Vance arrived in India to hold high level talks with Modi in an effort to lock in that country's allegiance to Donald Trump and his trade war with China and the other BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) nations.

Pakistan is being blamed in Indian media for the attack in Pahlgam. Pakistan is seeking BRICS membership AND is a member of the SCO.

Lashkar-e-Taiba has been linked to al Qaeda, al Nusra and ISIS in the past in that it is believed to be, like the rest are, controlled by U.S. Special Operations forces as a proxy army.

It is not a coincidence that this attack took place the day after Vance arrived in India. The implication we are meant to read into it is that Pakistan doesn't want India to take sides with the U.S. in this global trade conflict.

That is ridiculous because the only result that could possibly come from this attack would be to drive India further from Pakistan and China and the SCO and BRICS rather than bring them together.

Which is why it is painfully clear who is really behind this brutal attack.)

US President Donald Trump’s tariff war has sent shockwaves across the global economy, but no leader has felt its sting more keenly than India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Caught in a high-stakes geopolitical bind, India is grappling with an existential dilemma: balancing its vital economic ties with China against the allure of the American market.

On April 2, 2025, the Trump administration slapped a 26% “reciprocal” tariff on Indian goods, forcing New Delhi into fraught negotiations to preserve access to the American market, its largest export destination.

Despite the Indian media’s portrayal of Modi as a “Vishwaguru” (world leader) and indomitable strongman, India’s response has betrayed a surprising deference, seen in fast and big import duty cuts on Harley-Davidson motorbikes and American-made bourbon whiskey amid a broad pledge to tear down trade barriers. New Delhi has also announced plans to buy more US energy and defense products in a bid to placate Trump.

Donald Trump declares "BRICS is dead," claims 100% tariff threat stopped Bloc’s dollar moves

from some greedy fucking website

US President Donald Trump has issued a blunt warning to BRICS nations, threatening a 100% tariff on all imports into the United States if they proceed with launching a common currency. Speaking just hours before a scheduled meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Trump dismissed the economic bloc’s relevance, declaring, "BRICS is dead."

Trump did not hold back in his criticism. "BRICS was put there for a bad purpose... I told them if they want to play games with the dollar, then they are going to be hit by a 100% tariff. The day they mention that they want to do it, they will come back and say - we beg you, we beg you. BRICS is dead since I mentioned that..." he stated. His comments reinforce his long-standing position that any move to undermine the US dollar’s dominance in global trade would be met with severe economic consequences

While answering whether he wanted to dismantle BRICS or be part of it, Trump responded, "I don't care, but BRICS was put there for a bad purpose and most of those people don't want it. They don't even want to talk about it now. They're afraid to talk about it because I told them if they want to play games with the dollar, then they're going to be hit with a 100% tariff."

The Belt and Road in Europe: Between Tragedy in Ukraine and Hope in Serbia

from BRIX March 2022

... China and Serbia are negotiating a Free Trade Agreement that is expected to be signed by the end of 2022. This will increase the volume of trade between the two countries dramatically.

President Alexander Vučić, and President of Poland Andrzej Duda were among the few European leaders who visited Beijing during the Winter Olympics 2022 and held talks with President Xi Jinping on matters related to the Eurasian express rail connection and the importance of enhancing the connectivity through rail and building logistics hubs in Poland. Poland has become one of the bottlenecks in the China-EU Express and needs investments in rail infrastructure to cope with the rising volumes of freight.

Serbia is emerging as a major economic partner of China in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. But this is not an isolated country nor a separate policy of China. This is integral to the expansion of the BRI cooperation in a region which has been basically abandoned by the EU and the U.S. in terms of investments in infrastructure and regional connectivity. In reality, China is doing the EU and Europe a favor by connecting this region together to the Mediterranean, Adriatic, and the Black Sea. Many of the “European Corridors” in this region are standing still with lack of financing and capacity to construct. China is filling a major gap in the connectivity of the European continent.

Peace through economic cooperation should become the norm for modern diplomacy and international relations. The BRI has shown its potential to bridge political, cultural, and social differences.

China, Serbia Eye Stepped-Up Cooperation Through Extraditions

from the CIA's Radio Free Europe Dec 2024 H/T AuntBB

Serbia has extradited five Chinese citizens in the last five years, according to data obtained by RFE/RL.

While one extradition case between China and Serbia was made public in 2021, the new instances, which were obtained by RFE/RL’s Balkan Service through a freedom-of-information request from the Serbian Justice Ministry, shows extraditions took place on a larger scale than previously known.

That cooperation is also set to grow as the Justice Ministry prepares to submit to parliament a draft extradition law with China that, if passed, would expand the scope of cooperation between Beijing and Belgrade...

Panama Canal chief rejects Trump's accusations of biased use of canal

(As more countries are talking to China about joining BRICS and the threat of the looming devaluation of the dollar hangs over his head, Trump figures we can take the canal and keep China or anyone in  BRICS from using it as a bludgeon to punish and threaten nation states to stay with us and our neoliberal ways. He also figures the added revenue will come in handy when he announces his historic tax break he is going to give Big Business and billionaires like himself and half of his cabinet.)

from al Mayadeen English

Ricaurte Vasquez Morales, head of the Panama Canal Authority, has rejected US President-elect Donald Trump's claims that China allegedly controls the canal and is increasing tariffs on US ships.

Vasquez Morales told The Wall Street Journal newspaper on Wednesday, "The accusations that China is running the Canal are unfounded. China has no involvement whatsoever in our operations. Rules are rules, and there are no exceptions. We cannot discriminate against the Chinese, the Americans, or anyone else. This will violate the neutrality treaty and international law, and it will lead to chaos."

The report stated that the average cost for ships to transit the canal is approximately $750,000, with fees ranging between $300,000 and $1 million.

Morales added, "They [tariffs] apply to all ships from around the world and there are no exceptions."...

At least 18 of a force of 24 armed men were killed in the failed assault on the president’s office on Wednesday evening, the government said, and one member of the security forces also died in the gun battles.

A US ally wants to join BRICS. Why?

from RT

Last November, Kenyan President William Ruto made public his country’s intention to join BRICS during a visit by Li Xi, the secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the ruling Communist Party of China. Specifically, Ruto made an appeal to China to support Kenya’s quest for membership in the group.

Ruto’s request reflects the desire of a nation keen on spurring economic growth and enhancing its regional and global influence amid rapidly changing modern geopolitics. Diplomacy experts in Nairobi argue that, just like many other Global South nations, by joining BRICS, Kenya seeks to benefit from a global economic model that resonates with the needs of developing nations...

from RT

Tanks have been deployed on Wednesday night to the streets of Chad's capital N’Djamena and heavy gunfire can be heard in the heart of the city, as the presidential palace has reportedly came under attack by unidentified militants, sources have told RT.

The French news agency AFP first reported “heavy gunfire” on Wednesday evening. AFP cited a Chadian security source, who said that “armed men had attacked the presidential palace.”...

BRICS not about dividing the world – Lavrov

from RT

The BRICS group of countries does not aim to divide the world, but instead advocates for a new global order based on sovereign equality among nations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

In an interview with journalist Marina Kim for the ‘New World’ project published on Thursday, Lavrov emphasized that “BRICS is about the world order founded on the main principle of the UN Charter – sovereign equality of states.”

This statement highlights BRICS’ distinct approach compared to Western-dominated institutions such as the G7, Lavrov said.

The diplomat was asked whether the recent BRICS summit in the Russian city of Kazan could be likened to historic events such as the Tehran or Yalta conferences. Lavrov responded that while past meetings were characterized by territorial divisions, BRICS aims to empower nations to live based on their own civilizational values, without external interference in trade practices or resource management.

“BRICS is not at all planning to divide the world. It is an association of countries that want to live on the lands given to them by God and their predecessors according to the traditions of their great civilizations, including China, India, Iran, Russia, and many other states,” Lavrov noted. They wish for no one to dictate how they should trade or prohibit them from processing natural resources, as is happening in Africa.”...

Moscow backs NATO country’s BRICS membership bid

from RT

Türkiye’s determination to join BRICS reflects the appeal of the economic group, which is based on respect for international law and pragmatism, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

Ankara announced in September that it had formally applied to become a full-fledged BRICS member, making it the first NATO state to seek membership in the group.

In an interview with the Turkish daily Hurriyet on Friday, Lavrov said Russia welcomes Türkiye’s bid to become part of the group, which already accounts for 45% of the world’s population.

“We stand for expanding BRICS ties with the countries of the Global Majority – primarily with those who share a focus on strengthening multilateral principles, pursue a sovereign foreign policy, and do not join unilateral sanctions,” the foreign minister stated...

Iran, Russia to sign partnership agreement ‘in near future’: Lavrov

from PressTV

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has announced that his country will sign a strategic partnership agreement with Iran “in the near future.”

“The treaty is being prepared for signing in the near future,” Lavrov said at a Eurasian security summit in Belarus on Thursday.

“It will affirm both parties’ commitment to closer defense cooperation and collaboration for regional and global peace and security,” he added.

His remarks came as Russian President Vladimir Putin last month approved a proposal forwarded by the country’s foreign ministry for the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with Iran.

Last week, Putin invited Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to visit Russia to ink a comprehensive cooperation agreement.

Putin has called Moscow-Tehran ties a “priority” for his country...

BRICS Summit Highlights ‘Twilight of US Hegemony’, Marks ‘Official Launch of Multipolar World Order’

(propagandists from the NYT are flipping out and working in overdrive over the meeting)

from Sputnik News

Thursday marked the fourth and final day of the 16th Summit of the BRICS bloc, held this year in Kazan, Russia. Packed with dozens of high-level meetings and bilateral talks and summarized in a 134-point joint declaration, the summit also had plenty of symbolic meaning, which observers unpacked for Sputnik.

“The BRICS Summit in Kazan is undoubtedly one of the most important global political and diplomatic events of this year as it brought together the leaders of the expanded BRICS family for the first time,” Professor Alexis Habiyaremye, a senior researcher with DSI/NRF, South African Research Chair in Industrial Development, University of Johannesburg, told Sputnik, summarizing the summit’s results as the long-anticipated event reached its final day.

“The grouping has now become the global growth engine and its economic muscle is by any measure stronger than that of the old hegemonic grouping. One can say that it's the official launch of the multilateral world order, the twilight of the US hegemony,” Habiyaremye

The Kazan Declaration, published Wednesday and featuring 134 provisions aimed at "creating a more just and democratic world order," "enhancing cooperation for global and regional stability and security," “fostering economic and financial cooperation” and "strengthening people-to-people exchanges for social and economic development."...

'US Sanctions backfired': De-dollarization tops agenda of BRICS Parliamentary Forum

from PressTV

The 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum has kicked off in the Russian city of St. Petersburg, with de-dollarization being at the top of the agenda of the event that saw the participation of Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.

Speaking at the forum on Thursday, Vyacheslav Volodin, the chairman of the State Duma (the lower house of the Russian parliament), noted that dollar is losing its status as a world reserve currency.

He said sovereign countries, particularly BRICS members, are beginning to ditch the “toxic” dollar in order to “ensure their financial security.”

"Last year, its (dollar’s) share in export-import transactions within the framework of the association was only 28.7%," Volodin added.

He noted that the US and Western countries have used international payment systems and the dollar as a tool of political pressure, but the sanctions have backfired...

BRICS ministerial meeting begins with minute's silence for late Iran president, FM

from PressTV

A two-day meeting of foreign ministers of the BRICS group of countries has begun in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod.

The summit kicked off on Monday, with the participants observing a minute's silence in memory of Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who lost their lives in a tragic helicopter accident last month.

It continued with an address by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the participants at the meeting will discuss “international relations, improvement of the global governance system with emphasis on strengthening the role of developing countries, conflict resolution, and interaction in leading multilateral platforms.”

The BRICS group of fast-developing economies initially consisted of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

This year, the group was expanded to include Iran, Egypt, the UAE and Ethiopia as new members.

The bloc, which is often seen as an alternative to the Western economic and political hegemony, comprises almost 46 percent of the global population, 36 percent of the world’s gross domestic product (GDP) and 25 percent of the global trade measured in terms of exports.

Iran’s interim Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani arrived in Nizhny Novgorod early Monday to attend the BRICS ministerial meeting...
