domestic terrorism offices
within the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of
Justice, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to analyze and
monitor domestic terrorist
activity and require the Federal Government to take
steps to prevent domestic
terrorism
Definitions
the term “domestic
terrorism” has the meaning given the term in section
2331 of title 18, United States Code
(5) the term "domestic
terrorism" means activities that—
(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation
of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;
(B) appear to be intended—
(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or
coercion; or
(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction,
assassination, or kidnapping; and
occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the
United States; and
Authorizations
(a) Authorization of offices to monitor, analyze, investigate, and
prosecute domestic terrorism.—
DOMESTIC TERRORISM
UNIT.—There is authorized a Domestic
Terrorism Unit in the Office of Intelligence and
Analysis of the Department of Homeland Security, which shall be
responsible for monitoring and analyzing domestic
terrorism activity.
