Indonesia’s Prabowo scraps China trip over protests, TikTok halts live feed

(Clearly someone has tried to hijack a legitimate demonstration expressing Indonesian anger over excessive pay for cabinet officials in order to stop Prabowo from attending a SCO meeting and getting closer to China and BRICS. Also interesting TikTok has decided to stop allowing their platform to be used to further the color revolution agenda.)

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has cancelled a trip to China, as deadly antigovernment protests spread outside the capital, and social media platform TikTok suspended its live feature, citing concerns over the “increasing violence” in the Southeast Asian country.

The announcement by Prabowo’s spokesman came on Saturday as Indonesian authorities said that at least three people were killed in an arson attack on a parliament building in Makassar, the capital of the South Sulawesi province, on the previous day.

The protests mark the first major test for Prabowo’s nearly year-old government. They began in Jakarta on Monday over lawmakers’ pay and worsened after a police vehicle hit and killed a motorcycle rider.

“The president wants to continue monitoring [the situation in Indonesia] directly… and seek the best solutions,” presidential spokesperson Prasetyo Hadi said in a video statement.

“Therefore, the president apologises to the Chinese government that he could not attend the invitation.”

Prabowo had been due to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in China’s Tianjin as well as a “Victory Day” parade on September 3 to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II...

Indonesian president Prabowo cancels China trip amid violent protests

(Yes it looks like a color revolution to keep Indonesia from getting closer to China but keep in mind, Prabowo is a former military leader who was very close to Suharto back in the day who wanted to take his place as neoliberal dictator when he left office. So much so, he married Suharto's daughter. When he wasn't selected for that job, he dumped her. While serving in the military he was directly involved with mass murders in East Timor. And he of course is a 'businessman')

(All this doesn't mean he isn't  being regime changed, it just means the neoliberal rulers of various nations that would traditionally be siding with the West are jumping ship at an alarming rate perhaps.)'

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has cancelled his scheduled trip to China due to ongoing protests in several Indonesian cities, local media reported.

Presidential spokesman Prasetyo Hadi announced on Saturday that Prabowo wishes to remain in Indonesia to monitor the nationwide protests, according to Antara News.

Prabowo was scheduled to travel to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the Victory Day Parade in Beijing on September 3, 2025, marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

"Mr. President wants to observe conditions directly, to lead and seek the best resolution to the unrest. Hence, President Prabowo Subianto humbly apologised to the Chinese government for not being able to fulfil their invitation," Prasetyo said.

At least three people were killed in violent protests in Indonesia on Saturday after angry demonstrators set fire to several government buildings in the capital Jakarta following the death of a motorcycle taxi driver hit by a police vehicle.

Protesters attacked police outposts and set fire to the city's police command headquarters, destroying dozens of vehicles, shattering windows, levelling guard posts, and injuring officers with stones and torched several vehicles with rocks and Molotov cocktails, injuring four people.

"A total of eight people were evacuated by the rescue team after the burning of the Makassar City DPRD Office, three of whom were declared dead, suspected of being trapped inside the room when the fire broke out," a local disaster management official said...

The Act Of Killing

A documentary of Joshua Oppenheimer (2012) which challenges former Indonesian death-squad leaders to reenact their mass-killings in 1965 of communists in particular in whichever cinematic genres they wish, including classic Hollywood crime scenarios and lavish musical numbers. This was some years ago a free download in the Netherlands!
