Israeli army kills 400 Palestinians at Gazan Al-Shifa Hospital

Israeli forces killed more than 400 Palestinians and demolished over 1,050 homes during a 13-day raid on Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, the government media office reported Saturday.

The Gaza-based government Media Office said Israeli forces detained and tortured hundreds of patients, displaced individuals and health care workers in and around the hospital.

A statement highlighted the dire situation of 107 patients and 60 health care workers trapped in the hospital under inhumane conditions without water, medicine, food or electricity.

It accused Israel of obstructing attempts by international organizations to evacuate the patients, putting their lives at risk...

Israeli forces retreat from Gaza’s al-Shifa hospital after weeks of siege

The Gaza Health Ministry says Israeli forces have withdrawn tanks and vehicles from Gaza’s main hospital al-Shifa after a two-week siege of the medical complex.

In a statement on Monday, the ministry said that dozens of bodies, some of them decomposed, had been found at the complex after the Israeli pullout, which also left behind a vast swath of destruction.

It emphasized that Israel retreated from the hospital “after burning down the complex buildings and putting it completely out of service.”

“The scale of the destruction inside the complex and the buildings around it is very large,” the ministry said.

All buildings in the hospital were exposed to fire or sustained damage, including the mortuary and the hospital’s courtyards and corridors.

Israel demands evacuations as it storms 2 more Gaza hospitals

Israeli forces demanded evacuations after they besieged two more Gaza hospitals Sunday, pinning down medical teams under heavy gunfire, the Palestinian Red Crescent said.

The storming comes amid Israeli claims it had captured 480 alleged fighters in continued clashes at Gaza's main Al-Shifa hospital.

Israeli forces allege hospitals in the Palestinian enclave have frequently been used as strongholds of Hamas bases and weapons, a claim dismissed by Hames and the medical staff.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said one of its staff was killed when Israeli tanks suddenly pushed back into areas around Al-Amal and Nasser hospitals in the southern city of Khan Younis, amid heavy bombardment and gunfire.

Israeli armored forces sealed off Al-Amal Hospital and carried out extensive bulldozing operations in its vicinity, the Red Crescent said in a statement, adding: "All of our teams are in extreme danger at the moment and are completely immobilized."...

Witnesses say Israeli tanks 'crushed' bodies at Gaza al-Shifa Hospital as scale of tragedy unfolds

Eyewitnesses to Israel’s week-long raid on the al-Shifa Hospital and its vicinity in Gaza City say they saw the regime’s armored vehicles running over bodies and ambulances at the medical complex.

Jameel al-Ayoubi, who was sheltering at the hospital during the attack, said tanks and armored bulldozers plowed into the hospital courtyard, crushing ambulances and civilian vehicles.

He also saw tanks running over at least four bodies of the Palestinian people killed during the assault.

Abed Radwan, who lived near the al-Shifa Hospital, said Israeli forces detained several people and forced the rest to march to the south.

“They left nothing intact,” he further said, adding that bodies of the victims were scattered in the streets and homes were flattened in the aftermath of the Israeli raid...

The real reason Israel stormed al-Shifa Hospital yet again

In the past two days, a number of things happened that seemingly had nothing to do with each other. At 2:00 a.m. on Monday, the Israeli army stormed al-Shifa hospital, entering with tanks and heavy gunfire and killing and injuring dozens. It was the fourth invasion of al-Shifa since October, resulting in the arrest of over 80 people. 

The day before, 13 aid trucks arrived in northern Gaza for the first time in four months without being turned back by the Israeli army or resulting in the massacre of starving Palestinian aid-seekers. People flocking to the UNRWA warehouse in Jabalia refugee camp to receive the aid stood in uncharacteristically orderly lines and patiently waited for the handouts of flour, rice, and other foodstuffs. Many could be seen cheering once the aid arrived, a scene captured by Al Jazeera’s coverage.

But what few people know is that this successful delivery of sorely needed food aid to northern Gaza is what led the Israeli army to launch its deadly raid on al-Shifa Hospital the next day.

Israel acknowledges killing 90 Palestinians at Al-Shifa Hospital

The Israeli army acknowledged Wednesday that it killed at least 90 Palestinians during a two-day raid in Al-Shifa Hospital and surrounding areas in Gaza City.

It also arrested 160 others and transferred them to Israel for further interrogation, while 300 are still being interrogated at the site in the hospital, the military said in a statement.

It noted that the Israeli troops were still fighting in the areas around the Al-Shifa Hospital and claimed that they were avoiding harm to civilians, patients, medical teams and the medical equipment there.

Al Shifa, the Gaza Strip's biggest hospital before the war, is now one of the few health care facilities that are even partially operational in the north of the territory and has also been housing displaced civilians.

Earlier Tuesday, the Media Office in Gaza said the people held in Al-Shifa Hospital, including patients and medical teams, were without food and water under the Israeli siege.

It also said some 250 Palestinian civilians have been killed and injured in the hospital by the Israeli forces...

IDF raided al-Shifa hospital despite uncovering Hamas HQ miles away – media

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) raided Gaza’s al-Shifa hospital complex, insisting Hamas was using the healthcare facility as its “terror headquarters,” despite having uncovered the militant group’s actual headquarters just days earlier, Consortium News reported on Thursday. 

The outlet’s report cited a Jerusalem Post story published ahead of the controversial raid detailing how the IDF had discovered Hamas’ underground high command center – five miles (8.5km) away from the hospital. The IDF nevertheless went ahead with the assault on al-Shifa, continuing to insist that the complex hid Hamas’ central base of operations without mentioning the discovery it had made days before.
