Türkiye welcomes steps to recognize Palestinian state: Erdoğan

from Daily Sabah

Türkiye welcomes recent steps taken to recognize a Palestinian state by France, Britain and others, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Thursday, vowing to work to put more pressure on Israel to prevent a humanitarian disaster in Gaza.

"We find the recent humanitarian reactions coming from Europe, particularly from France and Britain, very valuable. We welcome every step taken toward recognition of the State of Palestine," Erdoğan said.

"One of the most effective responses to Israel's genocide policy is to support the two-state solution based on the 1967 borders," he told a joint news conference with Gabon President Brice Oligui Nguema in Ankara.

His remarks came after multiple countries in recent days announced their intentions to recognize an independent Palestinian state, as part of a broader global shift against Israel's attrocities in Gaza.

The moves have come as international concern and criticism have grown as starvation and famine are taking place in Gaza and Palestinians are not getting food due to Israeli blockade.

The leading international authority on hunger crises this week said Israel's military offensive and blockade have led to the "worst-case scenario of famine" in the territory...

Ankara condemns Israeli parliament’s call to annex occupied West Bank

(Imagine that. The 'Jewish State' voting to steal some shit from other people. What are the odds?)

(But we are told over and over and over again it's all about Hamas. It's all about Oct. 7th. It's all about Jews feeling safe. Turns out all of that is bullshit. They knew before Oct. 7th and let it happen anyway so they could use it as cover to launch Greater Israel plan in earnest. And this is the West Bank. Hamas doesn't run the West Bank. They just want to steal the land and the West Bank, thanks to Vichy Fatah and PA is the easiest mark to start with. Plus, they figure, America is distracted by Trump and Epstein so... never let a crisis go to waste.)

from Daily Sabah

Türkiye has strongly condemned the Israeli parliament's recent resolution urging the government to annex the occupied West Bank, denouncing the move as a flagrant violation of international law and a dangerous provocation.

In a written statement issued Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry declared the resolution “null and void under international law and without any validity,” stressing that the West Bank is Palestinian territory that has remained under Israeli occupation since 1967.

The ministry criticized the move as part of broader efforts by Israel to undermine peace and destabilize the region.

“Any Israeli attempt at annexation is illegitimate and provocative,” the statement read, warning that Israel's “violent policies and unlawful actions” are not only worsening the humanitarian crisis but also threatening international order and regional security.

Türkiye calls on the international community to take immediate and concrete steps to halt Israel’s actions, the statement said.

“Binding and deterrent measures must be taken without delay against genocidal Israel’s aggression; the legal and moral obligations of the international system must be effectively fulfilled,” the statement urged.

Earlier this week, the Israeli parliament voted in favor of a resolution calling on the government to annex the West Bank – territory internationally recognized as occupied Palestinian land. Of the 120 Knesset members, 71 supported the resolution, 13 opposed it, and the rest abstained.

The resolution claims the West Bank as “the historical, cultural and spiritual homeland of the Jewish people and an inseparable part of the Land of Israel.”...

The Turkish public asks: After Israel's attack on Iran, are we next?

from Middle East Eye

A day before Israel attacked Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was at the Knesset, welcoming Argentinian President Javier Milei with open arms.

"Argentina became a safe haven for thousands of Jews," Netanyahu told the Israeli parliament.

"They sought refuge from economic hardship and antisemitic persecution. Not only in Eastern Europe, but also in the Ottoman Empire.

"An empire that I don't think will be renewed anytime soon, even though there are those who disagree with me."

The remarks, which were clearly directed at Turkey and its long-serving President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, were not lost on officials in Ankara.

A burgeoning regional power, Turkey has played an outsized role in the Middle East since the so-called Arab Spring uprisings of the 2010s.

Amid the new power dynamic that has taken shape in the region, Ankara has seen its stock increase in major western capitals.

Such has been its rise that on Thursday, Turkey was among a small group of US allies notified in advance that Israel would be launching its attack on Iran...

Israel’s attack threatens regional stability: President Erdoğan

from Daily Sabah

Israel has taken its strategy of drowning the region, especially Gaza, in blood, tears and instability to a very dangerous stage,” President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Friday, condemning the attack on Iran.

“Israel's attacks on our neighbor Iran are a clear provocation that disregards international law,” he underlined, adding that these attacks, which come at a time when negotiations on Iran's nuclear program are intensifying and international pressure is increasing against inhumane actions targeting Gaza, demonstrate Israel's "rule-breaking mentality.”

“The Netanyahu administration is trying to drag our region and the entire world into disaster with its reckless, aggressive and lawless actions,” the president continued, indicating that the international community must put an end to Israeli banditry that targets global and regional stability.

“The attacks of Netanyahu and his massacre network, which are setting our entire region on fire, must be prevented.”...

Türkiye appeals for Gaza cease-fire, 2-state solution

from Daily Sabah

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yılmaz expressed Türkiye's call for an immediate end to Israeli military operations in Gaza and emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian access.

During a high-level meeting of the Madrid Group in the Spanish capital on Sunday, Yılmaz stressed "the necessity of the cessation of the Israeli aggression in Gaza and the unhindered flow of urgent humanitarian aid," according to a statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry released on X.

Yılmaz also underscored the "importance of increased international cooperation to implement the two-state solution."

The ministry added that the extended session of the Madrid Group – a diplomatic initiative focusing on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict – included representatives from the OIC-Arab League Gaza Contact Group, as well as Ireland, Spain, Norway and Slovenia. The latter four nations formally recognized the State of Palestine in 2024...

Erdoğan praises Spain's principled stance regarding Gaza

from Daily Sabah

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hailed Spain for its "principled and honorable" stance against Israel's genocidal attacks in Gaza, as he emphasized Türkiye's priority of ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinian enclave, as he met with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Thursday in Istanbul.

The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional conflicts, and global issues, according to an official readout of the meeting.

Erdoğan welcomed Sanchez with an official ceremony before their talks, which covered efforts to deepen cooperation in defense, transportation, and other strategic sectors. The Turkish president noted that both countries are working to boost trade volume and expand ties across multiple fields.

Sanchez, a vocal critic of Israel's violations in Gaza, has repeatedly urged world leaders to increase pressure on Israel to end what he described as a “massacre,” using all avenues available under international law.

Sanchez said his government plans to introduce a United Nations resolution requesting the International Court of Justice to assess the legality of Israel's wartime conduct...

Hamas thanks Türkiye for facilitating Gaza cease-fire efforts

from Daily Sabah

Hamas thanked Türkiye for playing the role of facilitator for a cease-fire in Gaza as the conflict rages on, diplomatic sources said on Monday.

According to a written statement, Hamas stressed that they were ready to make efforts to reach a final agreement and thanked Türkiye for its mediation role.

Diplomatic sources cited by TRT also emphasized that the cease-fire efforts and the release of U.S. citizen Edan Alexander were some of the most important agenda items during Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s contacts with Hamas in Istanbul, Ankara and Doha in recent weeks.

NATO member Türkiye has been a traditional ally to Palestine, but the more brutal Israeli attacks became, the harsher Ankara has made its criticism. It has condemned what it calls genocide, halted all trade with Israel and applied to join a genocide case against Israel at the World Court, which Israel rejects...

Trump may visit Türkiye to attend Russia-Ukraine talks

(Just imagine TrumpyBear announcing our recognition of Palestine as a state in the same week they are able to bring an end to the Russia Ukraine conflict. Cus you know TrumpyBear is thinking about it.)

from Daily Sabah

U.S. President Donald Trump said he was thinking of attending the upcoming Russia-Ukraine discussions in Türkiye on Thursday.

"I was thinking about actually flying over there. There's a possibility of it, I guess, if I think things can happen," Trump told journalists at the White House before departing for a trip to the Middle East.

Trump also said he thinks President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan would be a good host for the Ukraine-Russia talks.

Calling the upcoming Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Türkiye "very important," Trump said he thinks "good things can come out of that meeting."

"Thursday's meeting with Russia and Ukraine is very important," Trump said. "I was very insistent that the meeting take place."...

Erdoğan calls the world act against Israel

(While Erdogan and Turkey put the thumbscrews to Israel to stop them from committing genocide in Gaza, Max Blumenthal (son of Sidney Blumenthal, Bill and Hillary Clinton hatchet-man and perennial insider in D.C.)  interviewed Mother Miriam and tried to get her to agree with him that Erdogan was behind the Syrian regime change op in his ongoing effort to support ALL REGIME CHANGE OPS since Gaddafi in Libya. She did not bite.)

from Daily Sabah

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Saturday that the world was definitely “bigger than Israel” and should act to “extinguish the fireball caused by Israel” in the region.

Remarks of Erdoğan were published on Sunday by journalists accompanying him to a trip to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Erdoğan reiterated Türkiye’s support for TRNC and said the country would “sooner or later gain sovereign equality and equal international status.”

Erdoğan also spoke about a recent drone attack targeting an aid ship for Gaza near Malta and described it as “banditry and piracy.”

He also commented on tensions between Israel and Türkiye and emphasized that they were closely monitoring steps Israel planned to take against Türkiye.

Turkish FM calls forcing Israel into peace

(The other day Israel's foreign minister was screeching about how Iran causes all the problems in the world and said that Glorious Israel is on the front lines defending the world from da ebil Iranians... she had been asked about Israel's nukes. She also snuck in a dig at Turkey saying they are doing the same thing and that Israel 'has no ambitions'... This morning the NYT published an op ed from the editorial staff about how ebil Erdogan needs to be regime changed for democracy and liberty and all that jazz. For folks out there still demonizing Turkey and Erdogan from the fake alt-left... you will be known by the company you keep.)

from Daily Sabah

At a news conference with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha on Sunday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reiterated Ankara's support for Palestinians, expressing hope for swift aid delivery to Gaza. Fidan said Hamas was ready for truce in the Palestinian enclave and now Israel should be forced to accept peace.

He emphasized that Palestinian resistance movement was open to a lasting solution and Israel should take steps accordingly too.

Fidan also spoke about presence of YPG, an offshoot of terrorist group PKK, in Syria. He underlined that the group should either accept being "left out of the system in Syria as Daesh did" or they would bear the consequences. He urged YPG to accept ending its presence in post-Assad Syria "in peace."

The two groups also condemned the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.

Israel's actions in Syria pave way for regional instability: Fidan

from Daily Sabah

As tensions have been running high between Türkiye and Israel on the Syrian front, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Friday that Tel Aviv's actions in the war-torn country risk future regional instability.

In an interview with Reuters on the sidelines of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, Fidan said Ankara does not aim for confrontation with Tel Aviv.

If the new administration in Damascus wants to have "certain understandings" with Israel, which, like Türkiye, is a neighbor of Syria, then that is their own business, he added.

NATO member Türkiye has fiercely criticized Israel over its attacks on Gaza since 2023, saying they amount to a genocide against the Palestinians, and has applied to join a case at the World Court against Israel while also halting all trade.

Israel denies the genocide accusations...

Rubio defends revoking visa of Turkish student over Israel criticism

from Daily Sabah

The United States has revoked the visa of Turkish student Rumeysa Öztürk, Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday confirmed as he defended her arrest over her article criticizing Israel.

"We revoked her visa," Rubio told a news conference in Guyana, referring to Öztürk's F1 student visa. "We give you a visa to come and study and get a degree, not to become a social activist that tears up our university campuses."

Rubio defended the decision, saying foreign students engaging in activism that disrupts university life would face similar consequences.

"If you apply for a visa to enter the United States and be a student, and you tell us that the reason why you're coming to the United States is not just because you want to write op-eds, but because you want to participate in movements that are involved in doing things like vandalizing universities, harassing students, taking over buildings ... We're not going to give you a visa," he said.

"If you lie to us and get a visa and then enter the United States, and with that visa participate in that sort of activity, we're going to take away your visa," he added...

Türkiye to make presentation at ICJ on Israel’s crimes against Gaza

from Daily Sabah

Ankara will make an oral presentation at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) as part of the advisory opinion on determining Israel's obligations towards the United Nations, other international organizations and third states in the occupied Palestinian territories, Parliament's Justice Committee chief Cüneyt Yüksel said on Thursday.

Yüksel, speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), reiterated that the ICJ asked for an advisory view on the obligations. Recalling that Türkiye submitted its written opinion to the court in accordance with the second paragraph of Article 66 of the Statute of the ICJ, Yüksel said that 45 member states and international organizations, along with Türkiye, submitted written opinions within this framework prepared in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and Parliament’s legal team. The written statement underlined that Israel’s attacks against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) hindered the effective distribution of humanitarian aid to local people. It further added that Israel’s attempt to close the UNRWA is against the U.N. Charter and the 1946 Convention on Privileges and Immunities.

He added that the hearings would begin on April 28...

Türkiye refuses to accept Trump’s Gaza takeover plan

(aaaaand the teenie-bopper regime change color revolution starts in 5.. 4... 3...)

from Daily Sabah

Türkiye will not accept U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to take over Gaza and forcibly displace its people, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Wednesday, urging his proposal not to be taken seriously.

Trump has repeatedly proposed emptying war-ravaged Gaza of Palestinians.

He has floated the idea of a U.S. takeover of Gaza under which its Palestinian population would be relocated – a proposal met with widespread condemnation but welcomed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"There are probably only two countries in the world that support this: the U.S. and Israel. The rest of the world is against it," Fidan said in an interview with Al-Jazeera Arabic.

Fidan said that Netanyahu's government sees Israel's security not in a two-state solution but in Israel's expansion and expansionism in the region....

Erdoğan rips Trump’s Gaza plan, blames US missteps for 'atrocity'

from Daily Sabah

U.S. President Donald Trump’s plans to displace Palestinians from Gaza and “take over” the territory would only be a “complete atrocity,” President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said as he repeated his rebuke of Trump’s shocking policy.

“It’s impossible to accept the forced displacement. It would be a complete atrocity,” Erdoğan said, according to a transcript of comments to journalists on a return flight from his tour of Malaysia, Indonesia and Pakistan.

He said the Trump administration was making "wrong calculations" regarding the Middle East, adding that heeding "Zionist lies" would only exacerbate conflicts.

Türkiye has rejected Trump’s plan to remove more than 2 million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, claim U.S. control of it and turn it into the "Riviera of the Middle East." It has also said Israel's assault on Gaza amounted to a genocide while calling for international measures against its government.

"Unfortunately, the United States is making a wrong calculation about our region. One should not be engaged in an approach that disregards the region's history, values and accumulation," he said...

Türkiye labels Trump's bid to empty Gaza ‘absurd’

from Daily Sabah

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reiterated Ankara’s opposition to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to move Palestinians out of Gaza and into other countries.

Fidan told Anadolu Agency (AA) on Wednesday that even thinking about it was “absurd.”

“It is a fool’s errand,” the minister said, noting that the current conflict itself stemmed from the displacement of Palestinians from their lands.

During a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump expanded on his earlier proposal to resettle Palestinians in other countries, namely Egypt and Jordan. He said he would make the enclave "unbelievable" by removing the rubble and redeveloping it, suggesting that the U.S. should take over Gaza. His proposal faced stern opposition from the international community, including Egypt, the United Kingdom, France and Germany, while Hamas and the Palestinian Authority flatly rejected the idea.

"We oppose any initiative that leaves people of Gaza out of the equation," Fidan said.

Türkiye is a staunch supporter of the resistance movement Hamas and has repeatedly denounced Israel's "genocide" of Palestinians since 2023. Fidan led the country's diplomatic efforts for a resolution to the Palestine-Israel conflict based on a two-state solution, one with an independent State of Palestine...

Türkiye dispatches new aid ship to Gaza following cease-fire

from Daily Sabah

The 14th ship carrying essential humanitarian aid for displaced Palestinians set sail from Türkiye to the Gaza Strip, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Tuesday, days after the cease-fire with Israel took effect.

"To heal the wounds of our Gazan brothers and sisters and meet their temporary shelter needs, we have launched our #ShipOfGoodness," Yerlikaya said on X.

The ship is carrying 10,460 tents, 14,350 blankets, 20 portable toilet and shower units, and 300 generators, totaling 871 tons of humanitarian aid, he noted.

He emphasized Ankara's commitment to helping those in need. "As in the past, today we continue to stand by the oppressed and deliver the helping hand of our noble nation to those in need," he noted.

The shipment reflects Türkiye's ongoing support for Palestinians and efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which was devastated by Israel's use of air and artillery before a cease-fire agreement was reached with the Palestinian group Hamas after more than 15 months.

The cease-fire agreement, which began on Jan. 19, halted Israel's genocidal war that has killed more than 47,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children and injured over 111,400 since Oct. 7, 2023...

Millions in Istanbul plan to rally for Palestine on New Year’s Day

from Daily Sabah

A civil society organization is calling on millions in Istanbul to rally on New Year’s Day for Palestine as Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip nears the 16-month mark.

Turkish Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) President Ibrahim Beşinci said the pro-Palestine rally scheduled to kick off from the Galata Bridge in Istanbul must be spread to the masses to raise awareness about Palestine.

“We cannot enter the new year while there are women and children being killed,” Beşinci told Anadolu Agency (AA).

The rally is organized by the National Will Platform, which brings together 308 civil society organizations.

Beşinci said last year’s pro-Palestine rally must be repeated “since the issue of Palestine is not receiving enough public attention with the recent increase in pro-Israel posts.”

Israel has dropped 85,000 tons of bombs on Gaza in the past 16 months, killing at least 50,000 people, Beşinci pointed out, stressing that people “cannot remain silent” in the face of Israel’s attacks.

“We aim to send a strong message to the world by reiterating our stance in the course of history,” he said...
