China’s Xi slams ‘bullying’ behavior in world affairs, urges cooperation to strengthen SCO

from PressTV

Chinese President Xi Jinping has criticized “bullying behavior” in international affairs, pledging to strengthen multilateral ties as he opened the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin.

In an address to SCO leaders on Sunday evening, Xi called on the world to reject Cold War mentalities, bloc confrontations and “bullying behavior” in international politics.

Xi delivered his remarks at the opening of the two-day SCO summit, which brought together leaders from more than 20 nations.

Among the attendees were Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly also took part in the gathering.

“The current international situation is becoming increasingly chaotic and intertwined … The security and development tasks facing member states have become even more challenging,” Xi warned.

He urged the SCO to uphold fairness and justice in both domestic and international affairs, while resisting what he called the mentality of power politics.

Xi highlighted that the organization has made progress by adhering to the “Shanghai Spirit,” a principle based on mutual respect, equality, and cooperation.

“Looking to the future, with the world undergoing turbulence and transformation, we must continue to forge ahead and enhance the functions of the organization,” he said...

Iran president urges SCO to take concrete steps toward peace, economic cooperation

from PressTV

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) should take practical and clear steps to promote global peace and economic cooperation.

Pezeshkian was addressing the 25th Meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State in northern China's port city of Tianjin on Monday.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as one of the important pillars of the multipolarization of the international system, should take practical, clear, and specific steps in two parallel paths to create a more peaceful world and a world conducive to expanding economic cooperation,” he said.

He proposed the creation of a specialized initiative, the "Accounts and Settlements of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization," as a practical mechanism to enhance financial cooperation and reduce the impacts of unlawful sanctions on the economic interactions among the member states.

He said the initiative rests on greater use of national currencies in settlements to decrease reliance on the US dollar, the establishment of shared digital infrastructure and the employment of central bank digital currencies to ensure secure and efficient payments and the establishment of a multilateral currency swap fund to assist countries facing sanctions or liquidity shortages.

“We believe that the implementation of this initiative can not only enhance the economic resilience of the members but can also turn the Shanghai Cooperation Organization into a successful model for establishing a multipolar, fair, and resilient financial order against external pressures,” the Iranian president added...

Trump pushing India into high-stakes, high-risk China clash

(In Nov of 2024, Lashkar-e-Taiba (The Resistance Front) used grenades to attack target in India: 12 people were injured. On April 22 2025, the same group killed killed 28 people in yet another destabilization attack called 2025 Pahalgam attack.

On Monday, the 21st day of April 2025, JD Vance arrived in India to hold high level talks with Modi in an effort to lock in that country's allegiance to Donald Trump and his trade war with China and the other BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) nations.

Pakistan is being blamed in Indian media for the attack in Pahlgam. Pakistan is seeking BRICS membership AND is a member of the SCO.

Lashkar-e-Taiba has been linked to al Qaeda, al Nusra and ISIS in the past in that it is believed to be, like the rest are, controlled by U.S. Special Operations forces as a proxy army.

It is not a coincidence that this attack took place the day after Vance arrived in India. The implication we are meant to read into it is that Pakistan doesn't want India to take sides with the U.S. in this global trade conflict.

That is ridiculous because the only result that could possibly come from this attack would be to drive India further from Pakistan and China and the SCO and BRICS rather than bring them together.

Which is why it is painfully clear who is really behind this brutal attack.)

US President Donald Trump’s tariff war has sent shockwaves across the global economy, but no leader has felt its sting more keenly than India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Caught in a high-stakes geopolitical bind, India is grappling with an existential dilemma: balancing its vital economic ties with China against the allure of the American market.

On April 2, 2025, the Trump administration slapped a 26% “reciprocal” tariff on Indian goods, forcing New Delhi into fraught negotiations to preserve access to the American market, its largest export destination.

Despite the Indian media’s portrayal of Modi as a “Vishwaguru” (world leader) and indomitable strongman, India’s response has betrayed a surprising deference, seen in fast and big import duty cuts on Harley-Davidson motorbikes and American-made bourbon whiskey amid a broad pledge to tear down trade barriers. New Delhi has also announced plans to buy more US energy and defense products in a bid to placate Trump.
