Syria's al-Sharaa met Israeli security official in UAE

from al Mayadeen English

Diplomatic sources have revealed to Al Mayadeen that Syrian interim president Ahmad Al-Sharaa held a secret meeting on Wednesday with the Israeli occupation’s National Security Advisor, Tzachi Hanegbi, in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi. The high-level encounter was reportedly coordinated directly by UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed.

According to the sources, both al-Sharaa and Hanegbi arrived in Abu Dhabi aboard separate flights that landed at nearly the same time. The meeting, which took place in the city, marks what the sources described as “a significant development” in the ongoing clandestine normalization negotiations between Damascus and Tel Aviv.

The sources further disclosed that a degree of coordination has been developing between certain new security agencies in Damascus and the Israeli occupation. One of the key outcomes of the meeting, according to the sources, was a concession offered by al-Sharaa regarding the occupied Syrian Golan Heights in exchange for international backing to secure his position in power...

Trump eases sanctions on HTS amid report of Israeli expansion in Syria's Quneitra

from PressTV

... On June 29, the United States lifted most sanctions on the Arab country, citing alleged reforms under the head of the HTS-led regime in Syria, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, whose administration reportedly agreed to normalize ties with Israel and expel Palestinian factions.

As part of the executive order, the US president also ordered Secretary of State Marco Rubio to review the designation of the HTS leader and Jolani as a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist.”

During a visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in May, Trump initially revealed his intention to lift sanctions that had crippled Syria’s economy for over a decade and driven more than 90 percent of its population into poverty.

Based on Western media reports last month, the US government’s conditions to lift sanctions against Syria included normalizing relations with Israel through signing the Abraham Accords and expelling Palestinian resistance factions from the country.

Washington has imposed sanctions on Syria since 1979 in response to its foreign policy stance against Israel.

The executive order was scheduled to take effect on July 1...

PKK/YPG forcefully recruited 286 children in Syria last year: UN

(Yes, the Glorious Kurds, our heroes in the region (read as: our proxy army), abducting children to be weapons of war against their will. Boy can we pick em huh?)

from Daily Sabah

The PKK terrorist group’s Syrian wing, the YPG, forcefully recruited 286 children in Syria last year, a U.N. report said.

Anadolu Agency (AA) compiled the records of terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq regarding children from the "Children and Armed Conflict" report of U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres, which includes data for 2024.

The 40-page report said that 527 children were recruited into armed cadres by various groups, primarily the PKK/YPG, which uses the name "SDF," and its affiliates, as well as Daesh.

The report noted that the U.N. confirmed that a total of 286 children were forcibly recruited into armed cadres and used in Syria by the PKK/YPG and its affiliates alone.

The PKK/YPG and other organizations were held responsible for the deaths or disabilities of 110 children and the forced abduction of 10 children in 2024, and it was stated that the terrorists used 23 schools and hospitals for their armed activities.

It was stated that as of the end of 2024, approximately 1,000 children, including foreigners, had their freedoms restricted due to their ties to armed groups, especially Daesh...

As Other Arab States Condemn Israeli Attacks on Iran, Syria Is Notably Silenta (al Qaeda stands with the Jewish State)

(Syria's new leader, al-Shara (formerly known as al Qaeda operative Abu Mohammad al-Julani), stands with Glorious Israel and their Operation Cowardly Lion. Congrats to all those in the West who do the same. You will be known by the company you keep.)

from the NYT

In the hours after Israel launched its most brazen attacks yet on Iran, Arab countries — many of which are no real friends of the Islamic republic — quickly condemned the Israeli aggression.

Arab leaders denounced the Israeli strikes as “heinous attacks” and “violations of international law.” But amid the chorus of criticism, one key player in the region has remained notably silent: Syria.

The decision by Syria’s new government, led by President Ahmed al-Shara, to remain silent is a sign of just how much the geopolitical sands have shifted in the country since rebels toppled the Assad regime in December, analysts say.

That regime was among Iran’s closet allies in the region, providing key support as Iran built up its network of anti-Israel militias, the so-called Axis of Resistance, across the Levant.

But since coming to power, the new government has made clear that Iran’s proxies are no longer welcome in Syria and pledged that it would not allow any armed groups to launch attacks into Israel from Syrian soil...

The IMF Would Not Work with Assad but they have No Problem Working With al Qaeda

by Scott Creighton

Every now and again we get a little glimpse into the way the world really works. A peek past the propaganda and thru the smoke screens reveals the IMF willing to work with al Qaeda terrorists we installed in Syria... when they refused to work with Bashar al Assad, the elected leader of the Syrian people.

Anyone remember 9/11?

It's a kinder, gentler al Qaeda.

Anyone remember al Qaeda killing U.S. soldiers in Iraq?

I must be a dinosaur.

BTW... Saudi Arabia and Qatar just paid Syria's outstanding IMF bill of $15 million dollars so they can get a nice clean slate and those 'radical Islamists' of the al Qaeda government in Syria will be free to take out more money... from the evil capitalists of the 'Great Satan'

'An International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation visited Syria for the first time in 15 years, signaling renewed engagement with the war-torn nation following the fall of Bashar Assad and years of devastating conflict, the IMF said Tuesday...

In April, Saudi Arabia and Qatar announced they would jointly settle Syria’s $15 million debt to the World Bank. The move paves the way for renewed World Bank operations in the country, which were suspended at the start of the war.' Daily Sabah

Former US ambassador to Syria boasts of role in rebranding Jolani

(Robert Ford is a professional terrorist himself. He acts as if this is the first time he has come in contact with one of our Takfari/Wahhabist mercenaries but it is not. He was part of the CPA in Iraq that Bush set up after that illegal invasion to hand over the profits of the country to our corporations. Death quads were needed back then. Then he went in under ObamaGod to start the regime change op in Syria, hiring death squads once again. So of course they brought him into rebrand an al Qaeda terrorist merc into some sort of 'reputable' leader of Syria. Of course, Rubio said yesterday there is a growing civil war in Syria between our al Qaeda government and the SAA who are fighting to get their country back. So, yeah, expect more death squads and lies about 'ISIS' and American bombing campaigns.)

from PressTV

Former United States ambassador to Syria, Robert Ford, has boasted about his role in rebranding Daesh-linked terrorist Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, the head of the HTS-led administration in Syria, but hid his role in Syria death squads, a political commentator says.

On his X account, Tim Anderson, the director of the Center for Counter Hegemonic Studies (CCHS) in Australia, posted a short video of Ford, in which he is speaking at a gathering and revealing how he managed to rebrand the former Daesh terrorist.

“Former US diplomat Robert Ford boasts about his role in rebranding ISIS (Daesh) terrorist Jolani. But Ford is dissembling. He was a key patron of the death squads in Syria, from 2011 onwards,” Anderson said on X.

Ford, who was the US ambassador to Syria from 2011 until 2014, said that in 2023, a UK-based conflict resolution NGO, called on him to help transition former Takfiri terrorist leader Ahmad Sharaa (aka Jolani) into mainstream politics.

“Starting in 2023, a British non-government organization, which specializes in conflict resolution, invited me to help them bring this guy (= Jolani) out of the terrorist world and into regular politics,” the former American ambassador to Syria said...

Syria responds to US demands, says will not be threat to 'Israel'

(So our al Qaeda government in Syria is now going to promise to play nice and let Glorious Israel steal all the land they need for the Greater Israel project... but also... America has promised to use U.S. soldiers and material... to DEFEND AL QAEDA AND KEEP THE SYRIAN ARAB ARMY FROM RETAKING THE COUNTRY. We are, once again, defending al Qaeda.)

from al Mayadeen English

... However, the letter was less forthcoming on other critical points, including the removal of foreign fighters in Syria and granting the US permission to conduct counterterrorism strikes.

The letter indicated that discussions had been held with former US envoy Daniel Rubinstein regarding foreign fighters but described the matter as needing “broader consultative sessions.” It noted that military promotions for foreign fighters had been suspended but did not confirm whether previous appointments had been revoked.

Syria also addressed concerns about Palestinian factions operating within its territory. The letter stated that a committee had been formed to monitor these groups and assured that armed factions outside of state control would not be tolerated. Notably, Syria pledged not to allow its territory to become a source of threat to any party, “including Israel.”

On 'counterterrorism', Syria’s position was that any such cooperation “requires mutual understandings.” The letter affirmed that the interim government would not permit threats to US or Western interests, but stopped short of committing to specific actions.

Syria expressed a willingness to engage further with Washington, suggesting that the steps taken could lead to detailed discussions about lifting sanctions and reopening embassies. The letter, sent on April 14, arrived shortly before Shibani traveled to New York, where he was expected to discuss the response with US officials.

The document proposed ongoing dialogue about coordinating anti-extremist efforts without directly authorizing US strikes, a sensitive issue given past foreign military interventions.

The letter acknowledged existing communication between Syrian counterterrorism officials and US representatives in Amman, revealing previously unreported direct contact aimed at combating ISIS elements. Syria indicated it was open to expanding this collaboration under mutually agreed-upon terms...

Scores of Syria Alawites killed as HTS sectarian violence continues

from PressTV

The forces of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham-led (HTS) administration have killed at least 42 Alawites during the past two weeks, a month after the massacre of approximately 1,700 members of the religious minority in Syria's coastal areas.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that since the end of Ramadan on March 30, 42 Syrian Alawites lost their lives due to sectarian violence, with incidents occurring from Latakia to Tartus and extending inland to Homs.

Rami Abdurrahman, the head of the SOHR, noted that while the scale of the violence has shifted to individual acts, the killings have not ceased. "The killings did not stop, but now they are individual acts," he stated, highlighting the persisting threat to the minority community.

Syria’s de-facto leader, former al-Qaeda in Iraq commander Abu Mohammad al-Julani has attempted to justify these brutal acts as "mistakes" occurring during a counterinsurgency operation against what his administration refers to as the "remnants” of the ousted Bashar al-Assad government.

However, Alawites in the affected areas express deep fear and confusion regarding this narrative, feeling increasingly isolated and targeted...

A Chat with Aunt BB on the Subject of Syria

Had a real nice talk with Aunt BB today discussing Syria and what has been happening since our terrorists from al Tanf took over the country. Enjoy.

Syria's U.S.-trained opposition fighters wait to learn of their role in a new Syria

from NPR Dec 2024

... Anteri, a colonel and the commander of the Syrian Free Army, a small, U.S.-trained opposition force before the fall of the Syrian regime, spoke with NPR at his base next to a remote U.S. military outpost in southern Syria...

Al-Tanf, originally a U.S. special forces base, has played a key role in training Syrian opposition fighters, including Anteri's. It lies about 200 miles from Syria's capital Damascus, on the main Damascus-Baghdad highway. Abandoned regime tanks lie by the side of the road. Nearby are cast-off Syrian army uniforms, tossed aside by fleeing soldiers as Assad fell.

The Syrian ruler was quickly toppled in a surprise offensive this month by opposition forces, who took back the country with little resistance after more than a decade of civil war. Anteri believes the reason the regime soldiers his forces encountered didn't fight back was because they knew the U.S. military was backing the SFA. Along with a patch bearing the Syrian insignia on his fighters' uniforms, he also instructed soldiers to wear a patch with an American flag.

The American base at al-Tanf is testament to the uneasy U.S. role in a key strategic region. The U.S. has not had diplomatic relations with Syria since 2012, after the start of the Syrian civil war. The bases it established over the past decade in the south and east operate under no Syrian legal authority. They fall under the U.S.-led anti-ISIS coalition operating in Iraq and Syria, but that coalition is soon being dismantled...

Britain warns against Israeli attacks on Syria, citing regional stability concerns

from PressTV

Britain has urged Israel against conducting strikes on Syrian territory, saying that Syria’s stability is in the best interest of the entire region.

Hamish Falconer, the British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, in a post on X on Friday, said that while Israel’s strikes in Syria have led to civilian deaths and regional destabilization, the regime should prioritize diplomatic efforts and refrain from military action in Syria.

“Israel’s strikes in Syria have reportedly killed civilians and risk destabilising Syria further,” he wrote.

“We call on Israel to respect Syria’s territorial integrity and address legitimate security threats through diplomacy. A stable Syria is in the interests of the whole region,” he added...

Amy Goodman Decries Loss of CIA Regime Change Assets then Pushes Propaganda on Serbian Color Revolution

 by Scott Creighton

Amy Goodman is a Cass Sunstein agent and there is no question about it.

During yesterday's Democracy NOW! Headline segment (March 17 2025) Amy Goodman spends several minutes chastising the Trump administration for closing various regime change NGOs and then promotes deliberate disinformation and propaganda related the the current color revolution and regime change op taking place in Serbia.

Amazing for an 'independent' news outlet whose tagline reads 'The War and Peace Report' (if link doesn't start video at mark I choose, please go to the 9:01 mark)

Amy says Trump is shutting down U.S. Agency for Global Media which Trump rightly called 'tax-payer funded propaganda' and  Politico also attacked this move claiming UAAGM was  'pro-democracy media'

Since when have we ever installed a truly democratic government in a nation we regime changed? Politico knows the answer to that question as does Amy and yet... here we are.

Israel announces indefinite military presence in Syria

from RT

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are preparing for an indefinite stay in southern Syria, Defense Minister Israel Katz has said during a visit to the Mount Hermon, which is across the Israeli border in the area. The nation’s military expanded its presence on Syrian soil back in December, following the ousting of former president, Bashar Assad.

West Jerusalem is seeking to establish a so-called security zone on the occupied Syrian territories and in the adjacent areas to supposedly combat threats to its national security and effectively keep any other military forces out of the area, Katz said on Wednesday.

“The IDF is prepared to stay in Syria for an unlimited amount of time. We will hold the security area in Hermon and make sure that all the security zone in southern Syria is demilitarized and clear of weapons and threats,” the defense minister stated.

According to the Times of Israel, the IDF has established nine military bases on territories they had occupied since December, including two on Mount Hermon...

Syria leader urges unity, peace as anti-Assad loyalist ops kill many

from the Daily Sabah

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa urged national unity and peace Sunday following reports that more than 1,000 people were killed in the deadliest clashes along the country’s coast since Bashar Assad’s ouster.

The violence erupted Thursday between the new security forces and loyalists of the former government along the Mediterranean coast in the heartland of the Alawite minority to which Assad belonged.

It has since escalated into the largest challenge to the new government's forces since al-Sharaa's HTS-led coalition toppled Assad in December.

"We must preserve national unity (and) civil peace as much as possible and, God willing, we will be able to live together in this country," al-Sharaa said from a mosque in Damascus.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor has reported that 745 Alawite civilians were allegedly killed in Latakia and Tartus provinces.

The fighting has also killed 125 members of the security forces and 148 pro-Assad fighters, according to the Observatory, taking the overall death toll to 1,018.

The official SANA news agency reported Saturday that security forces had deployed to Latakia, as well as Jableh and Baniyas further south, to restore order.

Defence ministry spokesman Hassan Abdul Ghani said the security forces had "reimposed control" over areas that had seen attacks by Assad loyalists...

The al Qaeda/ISIS Terrorist Merc We Installed in Syria is Steadily Killing Syrians and Surrendering to Israel

by Scott Creighton

How many 'thought leaders' on the so-called alt-left sang the praises of the new regime in Syria run by a terrorist with a bounty on his head for killing U.S. service men and women in Iraq? How many? A lot.

Yeah, anyone heard from Assad or his wife and brother since that day? No? You know why? Because he didn't leave, we had our assets close to him kill them all.

And then folks in the alt-left influencer world sang the praises of the al Qaeda terrorists who took over.

But guess what al Qaeda terrorists do... they kill civilians.

For good old 'Merika! that's what they do (though Max Blumenthal will tell you it was Erdogan who did it but we know better)

Israeli media claims Trump to withdraw US troops from Syria

from Daily Sabah

Israeli media on Tuesday alleged U.S. President Donald Trump plans to pull out thousands of American troops from Syria, something that would impact Israel's expansionist plans in the south and activities of the terrorist groups it supports in the north.

Israel's official public broadcasting Kan reported that "senior White House officials conveyed a message to their Israeli counterparts indicating that President Trump intends to pull thousands of U.S. troops from Syria."

It added that "the withdrawal of American forces from Syria will raise significant concerns in Tel Aviv."

According to a Pentagon announcement in December, the U.S. has some 2,000 troops deployed in Syria.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, visited the occupied Mount Hermon in Syria on Tuesday, emphasizing Israel's intent to maintain a military presence there indefinitely following its occupation last month.

"We will not allow hostile forces to establish a foothold in the security zone south of Syria, from here to the Sweida-Damascus axis. We will act against any threat," said Katz...

Israeli war minister says troops will remain in Syrian territory indefinitely

(It's OURS! We stole it fair and square! Just ask Donnie)

from PressTV

The Israeli minister of military affairs says the regime’s troops, who seized ground at a so-called “buffer zone” inside the strategic Syrian Golan Heights after the fall of Bashar al-Assad, will remain stationed there indefinitely.

“The Israeli military forces will remain at the summit of the Hermon, and the security zone indefinitely to ensure the security of the communities of the Golan Heights and the north, and all the residents” of the Israeli-occupied territories, Israel Katz said on Tuesday during a visit to the Syrian side of Mount Hermon.

Mount Hermon, known as Jabal al-Shaykh in Arabic, is a huge cluster of snowcapped mountain peaks towering above the Syria-Lebanon border.

It overlooks the Damascus countryside as well as the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, which Israel captured from Syria during the 1967 Six-Day War.

Katz also said Israel would not allow what he described as hostile forces to establish themselves in southern Syria...
