Musk spent $1bn on coup attempt – Maduro

from RT

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has accused tech tycoon Elon Musk of “investing” at least $1 billion in inciting violence in the South American country after the presidential election earlier this year.

Maduro was declared the winner of the July 28 poll by the national election authorities, though the US claimed that victory had been stolen from opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez.

During his weekly television program on Monday, Maduro alleged to have direct knowledge that Musk – with whom he has been engaged in a long-running public feud – had spent “no less than $1 billion” on “the coup d’etat, the fascist outbreak, the violence against the electoral process in Venezuela.”

The Venezuelan leader named his political opponent, businesswoman Maria Corina Machado, as the distributor of the alleged funding to “fascist” groups, claiming that the US government was ultimately behind attempts to oust him from power...

Musk has previously expressed support for removing foreign governments in pursuit of his corporate interests. In July 2020, he was challenged online with a claim that Washington had orchestrated a coup against Bolivian President Evo Morales so that his electric car company, Tesla, could secure access to the country’s rich lithium reserves. Musk responded with a post: “We will coup whoever we want! Deal with it.”...

Maduro discusses opposition, anti-fascism, and economic growth

from al Mayadeen English

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro expressed his respect for the decision of the right-wing opposition candidate in the recent presidential election, Edmundo Gonzalez, to leave the country, stressing that Venezuela today is "calm and applauding what happened."

Maduro stressed that diplomacy and negotiations always lead to the preservation of peace, stability, and the interests of the country, stressing that the most important values for him are one's word and the fulfillment of agreements.

Gonzalez had requested political asylum from the government of Spain, and recently left the country after voluntarily taking refuge in the Spanish embassy in Caracas for several days, due to the issuance of a judicial warrant for his arrest to try him on several charges committed during the period following the announcement of the election results by the National Electoral Commission in Venezuela.

According to Venezuelan prosecutors, the charges against Gonzalez include usurpation of a public office, forgery of a public document, incitement to insurrection, sabotage, and conspiracy with organized crime and terrorist financiers...

Venezuela: Supreme Court Delivers Electoral Review Verdict, Confirms Maduro Victory

from Venezuelan Analysis

The Venezuelan Supreme Court (TSJ) has concluded its review of the July 28 presidential elections in the Caribbean country.

On Thursday, Venezuela’s maximum judicial authority ratified President Nicolás Maduro’s victory to secure a third term that will run from January 10, 2025, to January 10, 2031.

In a press conference with state officials, diplomatic representatives and reporters, TSJ President Caryslia Rodríguez began by reaffirming the court’s jurisdiction and recalling recent electoral processes in Brazil, Mexico and the United States that were ultimately settled by judicial rulings. The magistrate then proceeded to read the verdict.

“We certify in an unobjectionable way that the examined electoral evidence confirms the results proclaimed by the National Electoral Council (CNE) which saw Nicolás Maduro reelected as president,” she said.

The CNE declared Maduro the winner with 52 percent of the vote, compared to 43 percent for US-backed opposition candidate Edmundo González...

Venezuela’s Supreme Court To Rule on Documentation Submitted To Decide on Election Result

(Let me get this straight:

  1. there was a massive DDOS attack on the official election site of Venezuela that prevented them from publishing the official results
  2. the opposition claiming Gonzalez won 70+% of the vote decided to skip the Supreme Court hearing refusing to submit their fraudulent 'evidence'
  3. the opposition now claims their 'evidence' of election rigging isn't actually theirs and they have no idea who put it on their bullshit website. The same evidence even the ALT-LEFT here in the States have used to say Maduro must go

Is that about the size of it?)

from TeleSUR

The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuela announced this Saturday that it will review documents submitted by political organizations and former candidates to make a decision at the end of the “validation” process of the elections on July 28, whose result confirmed the victory of President Nicolás Maduro.

“The judges of this Electoral Chamber are committed to the expertise of all the electoral material of probative value recorded in physical and/or digital, as well as to the expertise on the massive cyber attack that was the object of the Venezuelan electoral system” said the judges declaration.

The judge recalled that the candidate of the main opposition coalition, the Democratic Unitarian Platform (PUD), Edmundo González Urrutia, was the only one of the ten candidates who did not appear before the TSJ for this process requested by the re-elected president Nicolas Maduro.

In addition, Caryslia Rodríguez stated that the citizens Manuel Rosales, representative of Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT), José Luis Cartaya, of the Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD) and José Simón Calzadilla, of the Movimiento por Venezuela (MPV), all members of the United Platform for Democratic Democracy and candidates of former candidate González Urrutia did not register any electoral material, arguing that they do not have any documentation related to this electoral process.

The judge added that they stated that they do not have records of the counting of witnesses at the tables, nor lists of witnesses, Further arguing that they did not participate in the process of transferring and storing any material and were unaware of who uploaded the information of the alleged voting records on the website...

US offering Maduro ‘amnesty’ – WSJ

(Who uses narcoterrorism as a tool of war? Oh yeah, we do.  It's practically in our military's DNA.)

from RT

American officials have offered to drop “narco-terrorism” charges against Nicolas Maduro if the Venezuelan president transfers power to his political opponents, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.

Maduro defeated Western-backed opposition figure Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia by 51.2% to 44.2% in a presidential election last month, securing himself a third term in office. Gonzalez’s supporters, however, claim that the vote was rigged, and the US officially recognized Gonzalez as Venezuela’s president-elect earlier this month.

According to the Wall Street Journal’s sources, Washington is now attempting to persuade Maduro to cede power to Gonzalez. In secret talks with confidants of Maduro, the White House has offered to pardon the Venezuelan president and his allies, who are currently wanted in the US on drug charges.

American officials are also trying to enlist Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia – whose leftist governments are seen as sympathetic to Caracas – to convince Maduro to accept the deal, the newspaper reported. Meanwhile, Gonzalez’s allies have also offered security guarantees to Maduro if he were to step down...

Maduro bans X

from RT

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has announced a temporary ban on X (formerly Twitter) in the country. The decision followed his war of words with the platform’s CEO, Elon Musk, who has accused Maduro of election fraud.

In a televised speech on Thursday, Maduro accused the tech mogul of “inciting hatred, fascism, civil war, death, [and] confrontation of Venezuelans,” as well as violating national laws. The leader added that he has signed a resolution presented by the National Commission of Telecommunications to ban the social media platform for ten days.

“Let the plans on social networks to spread violence, hatred... [in] Venezuela from abroad end,” Maduro wrote in a separate post on X.

In response, Musk took to the platform to mockingly promise to “singe his [Maduro’s] mustache from space.”...

Venezuela: CNE Ratifies Maduro Victory, Supreme Court Demands Voting Records and Hacking Evidence

(Are we DDOSing the CNE website so they can't produce the specific tally results?)

from Venezuela Analysis

Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE) released a second bulletin on Friday confirming President Nicolás Maduro’s reelection amidst tensions and fraud claims.

With a reported 96.87 percent of voting centers tallied, the CNE had Maduro win July 28’s presidential election with 51.95 percent (6.4 million votes) compared to 43.18 percent (5.3 million votes) for opposition candidate Edmundo González. The margin between the two candidates increased marginally compared to the CNE’s first bulletin.

In a press conference, CNE President Elvis Amoroso stated that 12.3 out of 21.3 million voted on Sunday for a 59.97 percent turnout.

However, the electoral body did not release the results broken down by voting center on its website which remains out of service. CNE authorities have denounced an ongoing cyber attack that has delayed the vote-tallying and publishing operations. The magnitude of the issue has not been fully clarified.

For its part, Venezuela’s hardline opposition has rejected the official results and set up a parallel website purportedly including more than 80 percent of voting records from polling stations gathered by its electoral witnesses on Sunday.

These yet unverified electoral tallies reportedly grant González a landslide victory with more than 70 percent of the vote.

National Assembly (AN) President Jorge Rodríguez said on Friday a “superficial analysis” of the opposition’s electoral evidence revealed several inconsistencies and claimed the materials were forged...

Maduro slams US for interfering in Venezuela's domestic affairs

from Daily Sabah

President Nicolas Maduro condemned the United States for recognizing the opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez as the winner of the recent elections, as Argentina, Peru and Uruguay joined Washington in their recognition.

"The United States should not stick its nose into our affairs, because in Venezuela the sovereign people decide," Maduro said Friday. "Is the USA perhaps the electoral office? The fascist demon is the electoral office?"

Venezuela's electoral authority declared Maduro, who has been in power since 2013, the winner of Sunday's election. However, it has not yet published the detailed results from individual constituencies.

The opposition accuses the government of fraud and claims victory for González. The U.S., the European Union, the Organization of American States and a number of Latin American countries are also questioning the official election results.

Maduro told supporters at the Miraflores presidential palace that González "is a murderer and an agent of the CIA."...

Maduro slams protesters against election results as ‘fascist, counter-revolutionary’

from PressTV

President Nicolas Maduro slammed violent protests that flooded the streets of Venezuela’s capital and other cities after he had secured a third term in the election.

Maduro said in a nationally televised ceremony that “an attempt is being made to impose a coup d’etat in Venezuela again of a fascist and counterrevolutionary nature.”

“We have never been moved by hatred. On the contrary, we have always been victims of the powerful,” Maduro said.

“We already know this movie, and this time, there will be no kind of weakness,” he added, saying that Venezuela’s “law will be respected.”

Public anger swelled after the National Electoral Council (CNE) on Monday formally confirmed that Maduro had been re-elected by a majority of Venezuelans to another six-year term as president “for the period 2025-2031.”

It maintained Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia had failed to defeat the president, earning 44 percent of the votes compared with Maduro’s 51 percent...

Venezuela: Gov’t, Hardline Opposition Call for Mobilizations in Tense Election Aftermath

from Venezuelan Analysis

Caracas, July 30, 2024 (venezuelanalysis.com) – Venezuela’s post-electoral scene has been marked by anti-government mobilizations and confrontations with security corps.

The unrest has followed the July 28 presidential elections that saw incumbent Nicolás Maduro secure a third term while the hardline opposition refused to accept the results.

Since late Sunday, there have been multiple reports of street barricades in different cities, with burnt tires or other debris used to block major roads and highways. Transit between Caracas and the country’s main airport in La Guaira was interrupted on Monday morning.

In the early afternoon, a group of protesters attempted to advance to Miraflores Presidential Palace through the central Urdaneta Avenue before being stopped by a police cordon. Social media videos showed armed civilians appearing to fire live rounds at the opposition crowd to disperse it.

Other social media footage showed protesters with weapons as well as attacking bystanders or security officers.

Later in the afternoon, another group of masked activists clashed with the National Guard in El Silencio, close to another access to the presidential palace. A large pro-opposition contingent likewise attempted to march from Eastern Caracas but was stopped by police cordons and eventually dispersed.

Social media users reported on mobilizations in a number of Venezuelan cities as well. A mob in the Lara state town of Jiménez set the local city hall on fire on Monday evening. There were unconfirmed reports of three people dead and more than forty wounded. For his part, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino spoke of 23 wounded servicemen and called on the Venezuelan people to remain calm...

Venezuelan Government Withdraws the Diplomatic Personnel from Seven Latin American Nations

from TeleSur English

The Government of Venezuela ordered on Monday all its diplomatic personnel from Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay to withdraw and demanded the immediate expulsion of representatives from these countries from Venezuela, after they refused to accept the victory of President Nicolás Maduro in the elections on July 28.

Through an official statement, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry stated that this decision was taken in view of the «disastrous precedent which undermines our national sovereignty»while he stressed that the nation expresses its strongest rejection of the interventionist actions and statements of the group of right-wing governments, subordinated to Washington.

These governments, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry emphasized, are openly committed “with the sordidest ideological postulates of international fascism, trying to republish the failed and defeated Lima Group, they claim to ignore the electoral results of the presidential elections held this Sunday, July 28».

“The Bolivarian Government has stressed that it will confront all actions that undermine the climate of peace and coexistence that so many efforts have demanded from the Venezuelan people, we are therefore opposed to all interventionist and siege pronouncements with which, repeatedly, the will of the Venezuelan people is being ignored”, said the Foreign Ministry...

And the Lies Begin

 CNN

With 80% of votes counted, Maduro won more than 51% of the vote, besting the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, who gained more than 44%, according to a statement by the National Electoral Council (CNE).

But the opposition painted a very different picture of the results. Opposition leader María Corina Machado said in a news conference that their own records showed their candidate Edmundo González Urrutia had received 70% of the vote against Maduro’s 30%.

“We won, and everyone knows it,” Machado said, adding that the opposition would “defend the truth.”

“The entire international community knows what happened in Venezuela and how people voted for change,” she said.

 ABC

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the United States has ‘serious concerns’ about the announced result of Venezuela’s hotly contested presidential election that authorities say was won by incumbent Nicolas Maduro.

President Nicolas Maduro on Election Day

 by Scott Creighton

US sanctions on Venezuela caused crises 3x worse than Great Depression... and yet he is still going to be elected.

Why is that?

Maybe because he is on the right side of history, the obviously right side of history, and not afraid to say so.

"Long Live Free Palestine" Maduro

Maybe because he's also not afraid of the people he represents.

Don't know why.

We don't have politicians like him in this country.

We have actors and whores who fear everything including the day they get found out for being nothing more than actors and whores.

Foreign Forces Seek to Interfere in Venezuelan Presidential Elections

from Tele Sur

Over the past week, Jorge Rodriguez, the coordinator of the Our Venezuela campaign, has repeatedly claimed that the far-right opposition is setting the stage to reject the results of the Venezuelan presidential elections scheduled for Sunday, July 28.

This strategy aims to proclaim the supposed victory of the presidential candidate of the Democratic Unity Platform (PUD), who is being supported by the extremist organization Vente Venezuela.

“Without votes, they want to win the elections with bots,” Rodriguez said, explaining that far-right activists seek to manipulate public opinion through social media and digital platforms.

The campaign chief of the Great Patriotic Pole also denounced that the destabilization strategy includes the early publication of exit polls, which are not permitted in Venezuela.

Subsequently, far-right politicians will launch unfounded accusations of electoral fraud to delegitimize the official results to be issued by the National Electoral Council (CNE)...

Maduro Campaign Chief Warns of Miami-Based Plot to Cry Election Fraud

from Venezuela Analysis

Jorge Rodríguez, head of President Nicolás Maduro’s reelection effort, spoke out against an alleged made-in-Miami plot by Venezuela’s far-right opposition to claim electoral fraud following Sunday’s presidential vote.

According to Rodríguez, who also serves as head of the country’s National Assembly, the opposition intends to run an independent vote count from an operations center in Miami, Florida.

“It is not from the National Electoral Council (CNE), it is not even located in any city in Venezuela, but instead in Miami,” said Rodríguez in a press conference Monday.

Pointing to election polls favoring the US-backed opposition, leaders from Venezuela’s right-wing parties have been on a media tour alleging that their victory is virtually guaranteed and that only “fraud” could allow Maduro to be re-elected; a position that has been uncritically echoed in most media outlets.

Polling in Venezuela is considered unreliable, with pollsters historically showing a measurable pro-opposition bias.. Ahead of this election, opinion pollsters without a track record in past contests have offered wildly varying results, with either Maduro or his main rival, Edmundo González, holding sizable leads.

A leaked report from pro-opposition pollster Datanálisis reportedly predicted a narrow Maduro victory on July 28...
