Vancouver festival attack suspect was ‘known’ to police, apologized to crowd as they detained him after deadly rampage

(Seems like it was just a horrible accident caused by a mentally challenged individual. I'm sure the Monties and local law enforcement WANT to paint it as 'terrorism' so they can get more money and more toys in their budget this year.)

(Couple years ago some druggie scored up the street and was rushing to get back home to use and hit a dip in the road at the intersection half a block away. She panicked, jammed the accelerator thinking it was the break and swerved all the way down here side swiping cars and eventually t-boning my neighbor's car so hard it shoved it into a telephone pole breaking it. Sometimes people just freak out and panic for whatever reason. Drugs, disability, whatever. Sounds like that may be the case here.)

police identified the suspect as Kai-Ji Adam Lo )

from the New York Post

... The attack does not seem to be terror-related, Rai added, explaining that the suspect was “known” to police and because of a “history” of mental health-related incident – but that no political or religious ideations had ever been reported.

That history included a “significant” number of interactions with police over mental health episodes, along with a history of interactions with “health-care professionals related to mental health,” Rai said.

The suspect was apprehended after his car came to a halt in the middle of the street with its front end obliterated and a trail of bodies lying in its wake.

Footage circulating on social media shows a man being held up against a fence by police as crowds berate him – and saying “I’m sorry” as he covers his face...

What is Lapu-Lapu Day? Filipinos shocked by festival tragedy in Vancouver

from Reuters

Thousands of Filipinos in Vancouver were celebrating Lapu-Lapu Day on Saturday, marking a defining moment in Philippine history, when tragedy struck - a vehicle drove into the crowd killing multiple people and injuring others.

The festival, celebrated especially in the central Philippines, honours Datu Lapu-Lapu, the Filipino chieftain who famously defeated Spanish forces led by Ferdinand Magellan in the Battle of Mactan in 1521 and became a national hero.

The centrepiece of the festivities in Vancouver is a multi-block street party in the Sunset neighbourhood featuring Filipino food and traditions, live performances and cultural displays. The party on Saturday was just starting to break up but many people were still in the streets when a dark SUV rammed into the crowd.

Police said they were investigating a mass casualty incident and had arrested a 30-year-old Vancouver man at the scene, but did not immediately give the number of fatalities or injured.

"We pray that our community remains strong and resilient imbued with the spirit of bayanihan (community spirit) during this difficult time," The Philippine consulate in Vancouver said in a statement...
