The Syrian army has reportedly thwarted large-scale terrorist operations in Aleppo province through a preemptive strike.
Four major terrorist operations, which were set to begin from the town of Anadan,12 kilometers northwest of Aleppo, were foiled before they could start, Al-Mayadeen reported on Friday.
Intense clashes are still ongoing in the area between the Syrian armed forces and terrorist groups, mainly Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly known as the Nusra Front, according to the report.
Reports on Friday said fierce battles are ongoing in western Aleppo. Syrian state media said artillery shelling killed four civilians at student housing in Aleppo.
"Four civilians were killed after terrorist organizations shelled the university dorms in Aleppo," the official news agency SANA said.
The Syrian army launched intensified missile attacks on terrorist positions that stretch from villages in western Aleppo to Mount Zawiya south of Idlib, according to the report.
